CFFL Week 14 and Playoff Preview

Wow!  What a Monday Night Football game last night!  Reminiscent of  Rams/Chiefs MNF in 2018.  This game had everything.  Big plays, smash mouth running, comebacks on both sides.  Lamar Jackson coming out of the locker room after taking a wicked shit to play Super Man!  Tucker game winning 55 yard FG. And to top it off the shitshow lateral at end of the game that ended up being one of the worst beats this year in gambling.  Ravens up by 3 against Browns.  Spread was +3 for Browns, so a push if you took Browns.  Browns lateral the kick off a hundred times backwards and eventually out of the end zone.  Score lands at 47-42, 5 points! Ouch!

There were lots of final game ramifications in last nights game as well as in the CFFL and playoff seeding.  Here is what happened.

Juggernauts 57  Krauts 34 - This game was close at one point.  After 18 wasted points from Aaron Rodgers the Krauts led the Juggs 34-23 going into MNF.  Juggs needed 12 points from any of their players playing last night; Jackson, Hunt, Higgins.  Juggs said hold my beer.  Jackson would go off for 16 points, but Hunt would score 12 as well, and even Higgins got in the fun scoring a TD!  The win drops the Krauts to the 7th seed and instead of playing the Killers, they now will be playing the defending champ Sinistars.
Jackson scores 16 in the season finale for Juggs

Killers 28  Crush 20 - This game was 22-20 going into Sunday Night.  Crush needed a TD from either Claypool or Johnson to take the lead.  Seemed reasonable, but the Steeler WRs forgot how to catch passes.  So even though the game was over heading into MNF, the Killers could improve their seeding from 4th to 3rd with a "Hollywood" Brown score.  It wasn't looking like it was going to happen, but late in the game Brown would catch a 44 yard TD to give the Killers the point advantage over the Dragons.  Hell it wasn't even over yet.  With the Dragons having the Ravens D, and the shenanigans at the end of the game, they could have picked up ball and scored, but got a safety instead and fall 2 points short or the Killers.  Killers might not have wanted this, as they now take on the red hot Cocktails.

Brown scores for the Killers!

Chislers 55 Animals 50 - In another game that got interesting during Monday Night, the Animals needed 3 TDs from Chubb and Landry to pull off the comeback upset.  Earlier in the game the Chislers seemed to score at will, getting points from all of their players except Lockett, including 12 from King Henry and 8 from their D (KC).  Chubb would score twice in the first half of the MNF game and it looked like the Animals might pull it off.  Unfortunately, Chubb would not see the endzone again, but instead Hunt would twice.  Chislers luck once again prevails.

King Henry the Rat Tail

Around the league...Ferrets had their way with a struggling Crew team 51-29.  Gus Edwards added 2
Taylor playing well for hot Cocktails

scores late to pour salt in the proverbial wound.  Crew were resting most of their players in the second half and had little interest...Mayhem finish the season with a win over the Bees, who seemed to have faded at the end and fell out of the playoff race.  Rivers managed two TDs for the Mayhem...Titans beat their brother Dragons 16-13 with a partial lineup, no kicker, no defense.  Dragons needed a Ravens ST/D score to win the game, but only got a safety...Cocktails smoked the Sinistars 57-29 and seem to be hitting on all cylinders right now.  Taylor, Hill and Hilton all had 12 points each...Whales had little difficulty with the Legion winning 28-9 even though Mahomes had an average game scoring only 8.  Legion really faded towards the end of the season...

Player of the Week:  Aaron Rodgers, QB, Krauts - 18 points

Now its off to the playoffs.  If I was to predict the Fantasy Bowl right now I would say it will be between Chislers and Cocktails.  At least they are both the odds on favorite to win it all.  However they may meet in the second round!  Let's take a look at Round One action next week:

Monterey Bay Whales at Cherry's Chislers (-14) - In their first year in the league, the Whales make the playoffs and for their efforts they get the Chislers.  Chislers are the number 1 scoring team in the league and have 6 titles under their belt and looking for a 7th.

Diggs and Allen of the Chislers

Chislers have a powerful running attack of Cook and King Henry.  Add in Allen and Diggs and this team is very dangerous.  Oh and don't forget A.J. Brown who is a beast and has 9 TDs on the season already.

Whales will need a monster game from Mahomes to make this a game.  They just don't match up at all in any other position. WRs of Robby Anderson, Woods and Hockenson?  Carson at RB has 9 scores on the year though.

Prediction:  Swallow the points and take the Chislers.  Chislers win comfortably 52-23

Kretz's Krauts at Stamm's Sinistars (-6) - An Eastern Bloc rubber game. Sinistars won the match up in Week 2 44-24 while the Krauts were victorious in Week 13 34-28. This should be a good one as the Sinistars begin their defense of the their Fantasy Bowl Title.

Sinistars are led by Russell Wilson and have done a nice job of piecing together various combinations of running backs between Gibson and Robinson.  Key to this game could be the counter to Krauts' QB Rogers as Sinistars have Davante Adams!
Adams and Rodgers face off

Krauts as mentioned have Aaron Rogers who is leading all players in scoring this year.  That Adams counter could be problematic.  Montgomery anchors the running game and it's an eclectic mix at WRs as always.

Prediction:  This game could be close, but ultimately the Sinistars prevail.  Take the points and the Krauts.  Sinistars win a close one 32-29

Molotov Cocktails at Cam's Killers (+12.5) - In another first round mismatch, the red hot Cocktails come into town to play the Killers who managed to win the West led by mostly Buccaneers.  It's going to be hard to make a case for the Killers to pull off the upset here.

Killers led by many Buccaneers including the GOAT, Good Ole Tom.  11 point connections out there between Brady and Gronk with kicker Succop.  They are going to need some production out of the running game of Gurley and Murray to make this a game.

TY has found new life with the Cocktails

Cocktails have had the Midas touch lately.  TY Hilton had been garbage all year and was a free agent when the Cocktails picked him up and he has scored 3 times in past two weeks.  Tyreek Hill is just a scoring machine and has 16 TDs on the season already!

Prediction:  Killers are no match for the Cocktails.  Lay the points and take the Cocktails -12.5 as they win big 48-23.

R.C. Wrecking Crew at Monclova Dragons (+8.5) - Not a very stellar performance for either team entering the playoffs.  Crew got buried by the Ferrets and the Dragons scored only 13 points to lose to a team with a partial lineup.  Crew certainly have the advantage as they have the third highest scoring offense and have a lot of talent.  Dragons up and down, but with Watson, can put up some points.

Dragons need a big game from Watson, who has the potential to score double digit points.  Rest of the team is nursing some injuries and suspensions which could make the lineup a bit thin.

Crew hope these two can connect!

Crew are hoping to get McCaffrey back.  He has been out a lot this year with injuries, but when he plays he scores.  Murray will look to hit Hopkins for 10 points and Metcalf is a beast.

Prediction:  Crew should win this one relatively easily if they can get back on track.  Take the Crew, lay the 8.5.  Crew win 38-28

Baby its cold outside...
