CFFL Week 12

Getting down to the home stretch now.  12 weeks in the book already.  We enter the final two weeks of the season and get back into divisional play.  Things are heating up in the CFFL.

Last weeks action:

Wrecking Crew 32  Crush 22 - The Crew needed just one FG from Cairo Santos "Todd Chontos" to get the win against the Crush.  When Santos missed his first FG Monday night, flashes of Fantasy Bowl XXII entered the Crew's head, where they needed just 6 points from Robbie Gould in the final game of the season to win the Fantasy Bowl against the Crush.  Well Santos would kick 4 FGs Monday that and was no problem this week. C.J. Stroud continued to impress, scoring 14 points for the Crew.

Stroud runs it in for the Crew!

Cocktails 37  Dragons 28 - Cocktails get the win over the Dragons and are closer to clinching a playoff spot.  They got 12 points from Derrick "King" Henry.  Where has he been all season.  Questionable line up from the Dragons.  They started Ravens' Bateman instead of Zay Flowers who had 12 points...which would have won the game...

King Henry gets his first two TD game of the year!

Juggeranuts 25  Titans 16 - Juggernauts move to 9-3 and are one win away from clinching the East.  They continue to do this with the QB duo of Fields and Minshew.  It helps having McCaffrey though.  This week he found the end zone twice.

McCaffrey earned his turkey leg scoring twice

Warbirds 41  Krauts 36 - The Warbirds, who did a Bunker fly by this weekend, ended the Krauts playoff hopes to the delight of all.  They did it in dramatic fashion too.  Krauts were led by Bijan Robinson's 12 points and had a 36-35 lead late into the game.  Jalen Hurts was doing everything he could to get the win scoring 18 points before the Eagles went into OT.  Seemed like the Warbirds were done.  Not so fast.  Hurts would run in the final score of that game giving the Warbirds the lead, 41-36 and they would hang on Monday night as Kraut RB Mattision "Not Addison" would be held scoreless. The win clinches the South Division for the Warbirds.

Hurts scores the game winner for the Warbirds

Killer Bees 41  Sinistars 37 (OT) - In another nail bitter the Bees were able to upset the Sinistars in OT despite Josh Allen's 20 points. Allen is the leagues leading scorer and has double digit points in 10 out of 12 weeks so far this season.   The Bees got 16 points from their QB Stafford in the win.  The game would end up tied and the Bees' 2nd round pick McPherson kicked the winning 4 points.  Good think he drafted him in the second round...just saying.

Stafford has a big game for the Bees

Ferrets 34  Iron Legion 30 - The Ferrets upset the West leading Legion behind 12 points from Jonathan Taylor.  Yet another player people were wondering where he has been (see above regarding Henry).  They were able to sustain the Legions' Charger attack of Herbert and Allen along with kicker Tucker on Sunday night.

Taylor gets his first 2 score game of the year.

Chislers 30  Whales 26 (OT) - In another overtime game, the Chislers were able to defeat the Whales with, of all people, Jake Browning's one TD pass.  Isiah "Peak at my Butthole" Pacheco had 12 points for the Chislers.  They needed the OT since Dobbs only managed one TD pass, which tied the game, and Addisoin "Not Mattison" was kept out of the end zone.

Animals 52  Killers 22 - The Animals Machine continued to roll, winning it's 10th in a row since starting the season 0-2.  They got 17 points from QB Dak Prescott and 12 points from FA pick up Kyreen Williams.  Apparently it pays to lose first two games of the season and be able to have first choice of Free Agents.

Dak playing well for the Animal Machine

Player of the Week:  Jalen Hurts, QB, Warbirds - 24 points

Playoff Picture:

Division Leaders                          Wild Card                            Lurking
1. Animals 10-2                            5. Chislers 9-3                    Crew 6-6 (299)
2. Juggernauts 9-3                        6. Cocktails 7-5 (346)         Ferrets 5-7 (372)
3. Legion 8-4 (393)                      7. Sinistars 7-5 (334)           Dragons 5-7 (320)
4. y-Warbirds 8-4 (378)                8. Whales 6-6 (303)

It would appear that slots 1-5 are set except for seeding, but those teams likely locked in the playoffs.  Cocktails and Sinistars certainly in the driver seat for playoff spots.  Whales have to be careful.  Crew definitely lurking but will need some help to try to sneak in.  Same with the Ferrets and Dragons.  They have to win out and get some help most likely.

CFFL Week 11

 Week 11 action:

Wrecking Crew 28  Killers 24 - The Crew held on to beat the Killers 28-24.  After getting 8 points from Stroud and 14 huge points from kicker Cairo Santos "Todd Chontos" they had to sustain a late game attack by the Killers' Buccaneer squad of Mayfield, White, and kicker McLaughlin.

Stroud trying to lead the Crew to a playoff spot

Cocktails 21  Titans 17
- Titans tried to pull off the upset after D'Andre "Taylor" Swift scored a late TD to make the game 17-17.  They couldn't get another TD from Swift and the Cocktails would get 4 more points from kicker Butker, but it wasn't easy.

Tua led the Cocktails with 8 points in the win

Juggernauts 25  Warbirds 23 - Juggernauts survived a Warbird assault late in the game.  Juggs' RB McCaffrey got back in the end zone this week, starting the count for consecutive games with a TD over.  But Warbirds game flying into MNF with Jalen Hurts.  Needing 15 from Hurts.  It was certainly doable. But he would only have 12 points (only..) and Warbirds would fall short.

McCaffrey back to business in the end zones

Krauts 38  Killer Bees 22 - Krauts rolled to an easy win against the Bees.  Calvin Ridley had 2 scores while Hopkins and Tank Dell both had great catches for TDs.  You don't want to see the Krauts sneak into the playoffs.

Ridley scores twice for the Krauts!

Sinistars 21  Dragons 11 - Sinistars got 18 points from their RBs this week, unfortunately 12 of them were on the bench.  They have so many RBs that could start, it could be come a nightmare.  Plus Trevor Lawrence was on the bench with 20 points.  They aren't going to sit Josh Allen, whom they gave up a first round pick for.  Thankfully none of that matter in the game for the Sinistars and they still came away with the win.

"Run cowards, I live!!"

Animals 43  Whales 30 - The Animals appear to be peaking at the right time.  They now are in first place in the North and the offense is clicking.  They continue to pound the rock with Edwards and Mixon.  This week Edwards scored twice and Mixon once.  Edwards has 10 TDs on the season and 8 of them in the past 4 weeks!

Edwards celebrating with Animal fans!

Legion 48  Chislers 30 - There were few if any weak points for the Iron Legion this week getting points from every player, including Defense, except for just one.  Herbert hit Allen again for a 10 point connection.  They are currently sitting in the 2nd seed of the playoffs, if they started now.

Herbert throws for two TDs

Ferrets 42  Crush 14 - Ferrets had similar performance as the Legion, getting points from almost everybody.  Jared Goff led the team with 9 points and now have the Ferrets in the hunt for the playoffs.  Albeit a long shot, they are still alive.

Crush got Goffed by the Ferrets

Player of the Week:  Josh Allen, QB, Sinistatrs - 12 points

CFFL Week 10

Only 4 weeks to go in the regular season.  The playoff scene is starting to take shape.  But lets first see what happened last week:

Whales 37 Wrecking Crew 26 - The Whales might have ended any hope of the playoffs for the Crew.  C.J. Stroud did lead the Crew with 10 points but it just wasn't enough.  Kyler Murray for the Whales got some revenge on his former team scoring 6 points.

Murray scores against his former team

Warbirds 30  Cocktails 20 - Warbirds won their 4th in a row having most of their players on a bye including Jalen Hurts.  But Sam Howell stepped up in Hurts' absence and scored 12 points. They now hold a 2 game lead in the South.  Cocktails still hanging on to their playoff hopes at 5-5.

Sam Howell steps up bigtime for Warbirds

Sinistars 31  Titans 25 - Josh Allen led the Sinistars to victory with 11 points and are now only 1 game behind the Juggs.  They also got TDs from both their RBs, Ekeler and Montgomery with Gibbs on the bench with 12 points.  The challenge for them will be which set of RBs to start.  Not a bad problem to have.

Allen gets 11 points and the victory!

Killer Bees 15  Juggernauts 9 - Juggernauts came out flat and dropped the game to the 3-7 Bees.  McCaffrey's magical run of games in a row with a TD came to an end and he had a big fat zero.  Also with QBs like Minshew and Fields, I don't like their chances of a deep playoff run.

Bees' QB Watson was lost for the year

Dragons 33  Krauts 13 - Dragons get back on the winning track beating the depleted Krauts.  They got TDs from Lockett, Olave, and Deebo "Dabo Sweeny" Samuel.  They trail the Warbirds by 2 games in the South.

Deebo "Dabo Sweeny" Samuel scampers for 23 yard TD

Killers 34  Ferrets 33 -  In what was the game of the week this one came down to the final game on Monday Night Football.  The Ferrets trailed the Killers 28-27.  Ferret WR Courtland Sutton would catch a 7 yard pass to put the Ferrets up 33-28. It looked like the Ferrets were going to pull this one off.  But not so fast my friend, the Killers RB Latavius Murray would punch it in from 3 yards out for the win 34-33!

Murray scores the game winner for the Killers!

Animals 52  Iron Legion 35 - The Animals exploded on the Legion for 52 points.  Dak Prescott had 22 huge points including 2 TD passes to CeeDee Lamb for 2 big 10 point connections.  They needed all of that as the Iron Legion got 2 10 point connections of their own between Herbert and Keenan Allen.

The Animals and these two are starting to heat up!

Chislers 34  Crush 12 - The Chislers has little trouble defeating the Crush 34-12.  Burrow hit Chase for a 10 point connection and Quentin Johnston finally got in on the action recording his first TD of the year.  Chislers and Animals are tied for first in the North, both at 8-2.

Chislers need Burrow to keep finding Chase
to keep those Animals off their ass.

Player of the Week:  Dak Prescott, QB, Animals - 22 points

Playoff Picture:

Division Leaders                       Wild Card                       In the Hunt
1. Chislers 8-2                           5. Animals 8-2                Dragons 5-5 (281)
2. Juggernauts 7-3 (337)           6. Sinistars 6-4                Titans 4-6 (252)
3. Legion 7-3 (315)                   7. Whales 6-4                  Crew 4-6 (239)
4. Warbirds 7-3 (314)                8. Cocktails 5-5 (288)

Notes:  Huge game Week 14 between Animals and Chislers...Sinistars beat the Whales 20-19 in Week 6, thus the Sinistars hold the tie breaker if there are no other teams tied with them.  If so will move to total points.  Another big game coming up is Week 12 between Dragons and Cocktails.  Still 4 games to play so anything can happen.

CFFL Week 9

With Week 10 coming up, next week we will start to look at the playoff picture.  Lots of teams still in the hunt.  But first  let's look at last weeks action.

Week 9 action:

Wrecking Crew 43  Legion 13 - The Crew have awakened.  Or at least they hope so.   In the past two weeks they have wins over the top two teams in the league.  Last week it was the Chislers and this week they buried the Legion who only got points from their kicker.  The Crew however, after trading their dead weight and going younger, got 22 points from rookie QB C.J. Stroud and 10 points from newly acquired swiss army knife Tysom Hill.

Hill threw a TD, caught a TD and scored 2pts!

Cocktails 25  Killer Bees 17 - Cocktails trailed the Bees by one point going into the Monday Night game and only needed 2 points from their kicker Cameron Dicker "The Kicker".  They got 9 and the win.  A.J. Brown's TD streak continued getting another score for the third game in a row.

Dicker the Kicker scored the game winning points

Warbirds 46  Sinistars 30 - Two teams going in the opposite direction.  Warbirds win their 3rd in a row and the Sinistars lose their 3rd in a row.  Warbird QB Jalen Hurts led the team with 14 big points.  They also got TDs from 4 different players (McKinnon, Collins, Dotson, and Henry).  Sinistars were stuck with QB Heinicke since Lawrence was out on bye.

Hurts leads Warbirds with 14 points!  Fly Warbirds Fly!

Juggernauts 38  Dragons 22 - Juggs were led by kicker Younhoe Koo "Cream on Sum Yong Guy" 14 points.  Plus their defense got a score and WR Diggs "Dig Dug" scored 8 points.  Dragons traded for Josh Jacobs and Lockett.  Lockett was shut out, but Jacobs scored twice!  Oh wait...he was on his bench.  DOH!  Well even if Jacobs started, Dragons still would have lost.

Another kicker highlighted?  What's up with that?

Titans 25 Krauts 14 - Titans get their 4th win in a row and are now alive in the playoff hunt.  Not sure how they keep winning with QB Mac Jones and Zach Wilson.  Not to mention three of their scores came from Brown players (Defense, kicker Hopkins, and Kareem Hunt).  Krauts have waved the white surrender flag on the season.

Hunt scored a TD for the Titans

Chislers 18  Killers 11 - Chislers beat up a lifeless Killers team who left 20 points on the bench.  Those 20 points?  They were from Buccaneers players (Mayfield and Rachaad White), the Killers favorite team!  Joe "Cool" Burrow led the Chislers with 8 points.

Animals 39  Crush 18 - Animals are riding the longest winning streak in the league with 7 straight wins.  Animals RB Gus Edwards scored double digit points for the second week in a row with 12 points (last week 18).  QB Dak Prescott also lit up the scoreboard for 12 points.

Edwards scoring regularly

Whales 25  Ferrets 20 (OT) - Whales started out hot, early Sunday morning, getting 14 points from Mahomes and Rashee Rice. The Ferrets would come back with 8 points from their QB Tyson "Secret" Bagent "Man".  Unfortunately the Ferrets could only manage a tie, and with the Whales at home, they would get first crack at breaking the tie.  They would with kicker Chad "Weiland" Ryland's 5 points and the win.

Mahomes trying to get Whales back in it.

Player of the Week:  C.J. Stroud, QB, Wrecking Crew - 22 points
