CFFL Week 8

The home and home are mercifully done as we move on to the second half of the season.  Hard to believe we are entering Week 9 already.  Things have tightened up in some divisions.  Some teams have decided to give it up and have "fire sales".  This is the final week for trades...

Happy Halloween

In the North:

The Crew's once big lead in the North has evaporated as the Animals swept the Crew and move into a first place tie  The Ferrets and Chislers split but thanks to the Animals, are only a game back of first now.

Goff and Kupp love fest
Animals 35 Wrecking Crew 31 - The Crew almost held on, but in the end the Animals would win with 9 points from their kicker Boswell on Monday Night.

Chislers 44  Ferrets 25 - The Rams were playing the Bengals Sunday.  Enough said.  20 points from Chislers Rams (Goff, Kupp and Zuerlein) got things started and the Chislers never looked back.

In the South:

Dragons remain in first place, by one game by winning and preventing the sweep by the hated Bees.  Speaking of sweeps, Since the Mayhem dealt away Watson, they have won 2 in a row, sweeping the Titans.
"Get back in there eye"

Dragons 31   Killer Bees 24 - Not this time said the Dragons.  Watson finally performs for the Dragons scoring 12 points, throwing one TD while stuffing his eyeball back in its socket..

Mayhem 33  Titans 28 - Mayhem have won two in a row sweeping the Titans, who suddenly have QB issues with Bridgewater back to the bench and Darnold seeing ghosts.

In the East:

Cocktails avoid the sweep beating the Juggs and maintaining a 2 game lead.  Krauts suddenly have found their goose step winning 3 in a row.

Tannehill lending his Veteran leadership
Cocktails 33 Juggernauts 17 - What were the Cocktails going to do?  They were in trouble with Mahomes out with a knee.  Not to worry, they go ahead and acquire Tannehill off waivers and he promptly scores 12 points!  They dropped Murray in favor of veteran leadership, and it paid off.

Krauts 29  Roulette 22 - Krauts in turn pick up Murray right away and start him. He would in return score ZERO points.  But it didn't cost the Krauts the game.   The Roulette's roster is a shitshow with Cam Newton still out Andy Dalton getting benched and Kyle Allen struggling.

In the West:

Evans hauls in 2 TDs!
Sinistars remain in first and by 2 games after preventing the sweep from the suddenly dangerous Killers.  Crush are making a move in the standings sweeping the fading Bums and keeping within 2 games of the Sinistars.

Crush 49 Bums 9 - The Crush unloaded on the Bums getting points from every player except the defense and Dorsett.  Mike Evans grabbed 2 TDs for the Crush.

Sinistars 41  Killers 21 - Sinistars back on the winning track even with Brees back at the helm of the Killers.  Golladay scored 12 for the Sinistars and Russell Wilson tossed 2 TDs in the winning effort.

Player of the Week:  No one, lots of people with 12 points...so here is a pick of a random hot chicks:

CFHL Week 4

Four weeks into the season and things start to settle down.  Teams that were flying high start to come down to earth.  Injuries start to impact teams and players that started out hot start to cool down.  The result, standings begin to tighten up...

Let's take a look at Week 4 action:

Mayhem on Ice vs. Goon Crew 4-2 - The Crew finally end up on the loosing side of things as they couldn't find the back of the net scoring only 6 goals while Mayhem had 15!  Helping the cause was Mayhem Schenn who had 4 goals.  Goalies were big too for Mayhem getting 5 wins!

Schenn scored 3 goals for the Mayhem

Checkers vs. Krampus Carols 4-2
- Checkers win but it was close as they only won goals by 2 and hits by 2.  Krampus goalies were the story here as Rask and Hellebuyck had 3 wins and an impressive .953 SV%.  Actually the Krampus couldn't figure what year it was, 2018-2019 or 2019-2020 as he swore he dropped 6 goalies to get into roster compliance...The Checkers had a true goon on the ice in Brenden Dillon as he tallied 16 hits and not a single other stat.

Greek Empire vs. AshBusters 3-2-1 - The expansion Greek Empire catch the AshBusters, who continue to struggle.  Maybe we should have kept +/- stat...  Greek Empire's Brad Marchand had the top honors this week scoring 3 goals, 5 assists, along with 2 PPP and 2 hits.

White Mambas vs. Assassins 3-2-1 - The Mambas edge the Assassins to stay within striking distance of the Crew in the Norris Division.  They paid for the win as the Assassins beat them up hitting them 49 times.

USSR vs. La Femme Nikita 3-2-1 - In another close one, it seemed the Soviets were on the power play all the time notching 14 PPPs!  It was a nasty game with 76 hits between the two teams including 17 big hits from Nikita's forward Brady Tkachuk.

Who Gives a Puck vs. California Raisins 3-3 - Puck and Raisins skate to a 3-3 tie.  Puck get Goals, Assists and Hits while Raisins get PPP and both goalie categories.  A pair of Ruskies played well for the Raisins between the pipes.  Samsonov and Varlamov combined for 3 wins.

 Three Stars of the Week:

Number One Star: Brad Marchand, F, Greek Empire - 3 goals, 5 assists, 2 PPP and 2 hits

Ellie Ottaway, Roman Josi's wife.
Number Two Star: Roman Josi, D, Checkers - 2 goals, 4 assists, 3 PPP and 3 hits

Number Three Star:  Jordan Binnington, G, Mayhem - 3 Wins

Goon of the Week:  Brady Tkachuk, F, Nikita - 17 hits

CFFL Week 7

We are smack dab in the middle of the season and the home and home series and this week brought some interesting drama.  The Mayhem who haven't won a game, traded their best player, Watson, away and then promptly win their first game.  The Dragons trade for the best player in the league, Watson, and promptly lose.  Cocktails test the water offering Mahomes up for trade and Mahomes promptly gets injured.  And the top scoring player of the week, Aaron Rodgers sat the bench behind Dak Prescott for the Bees.  Wait, what?

As the immortal Vince Lombardi would say..."What the hell is going on out here!"

Beats me Vince, but I'll try to tell you how the week went anyway...

North...

Animals vs. Wrecking Crew and Ferrets vs. Chislers

The Crew just couldn't keep up with the Animals this week, as the Animals got 30 points from their RBs.  Edmonds "Fitzgerald" score 3 times and Murray scored twice late to put the game away despite 16 points from Crew QB Brissett.  Animals win 44-33.

Elliott would score game winner for Ferrets!
A thriller between the Ferrets and the Chislers.  The Chisler Rams finally woke up as Goff had 14 points and Zuerlein had 13.  Dalvin Cook powered in 2 TDs but going late in the game on Sunday night they only had a 5 point lead over Ferrets.  Kirk "One o'clock" Cousins had 16 points to help the cause.  The Chislers put up a goal line stance versus Keenan Allen but would have to survive Cowboys Elliott and Gallup.  He would not survive.  Elliott would dive in for a 1 yard TD and the Ferret game winner 40-39!

After Round one done in the home and home, the North Division has tightened up as the Animals and Ferrets now just one game behind the Crew...

South...

Killer Bees vs. Dragons and Titans vs. Mayhem

After the big trade things didn't turn out quite how the Dragons planned.  Watson would only score 4 points and Will Fuller would leave with a badly injured hamstring.  Maybe they would have a chance since Bees decided to keep Rodgers on the bench...he would score 26 points!  On the Bench!  Well it didn't matter as Marvin Jones would catch 4 TD passes in the Bees 52-20 domination of the Dragons.

Michel scores 3 times giving Mayhem first win!
Another thriller battle in the home and home had the Titans up 26-14 going into Monday Night.  Typically we say, as long as I have more than a 6 point lead and my opponent has one player I feel good.  Well he had a 12 point lead and Mayhem had just a RB left (I'm not even going to count the Jets defense).  But that RB for the Mayhem was Sony "Playstation" Michel.  He would score once, then twice to tie the game and add a third for the game winner 32-26 and the Mayhem's first win.

Bees move into a first place tie in the South with the Dragons with the Titans  a game behind...

East...

Cocktails vs. Juggernauts and Krauts vs. Roulette

Pop goes the knee...
Are the Cocktails in trouble?  The almost pulled off a win scoring only 13 points this week versus the Juggernauts.  Trailing 13-10 going into Sunday Night, the Juggs had Carson Wentz.  In a disaster of a day for Wentz he did manage to throw one TD that would be the game winner 14-13.  However the bigger story is Mahomes knee.  Mahomes injured it on a sneak early in the game and had to have it popped back into place on the field.  He could miss 3-5 weeks.  It will be rookie Kyler Murray's team until he returns.

Roulette seem to be fading dropping their 5th of  year, leaving guys in on bye (OBJ, not that it mattered) and just not getting any luck with David Johnson.  Krauts trying to stay in the hunt with the 46-29 victory.  Darren Waller was a nice pick up scoring twice, but when your options at QB are Flacco or Trubisky don't plan on going very far.

The loss by the Cocktails have made things a little closer and the loss of Mahomes could make things even more interesting in the back half of the season.

West...

Crush vs. Bums and Sinistars vs. Killers

The Crush had little trouble with the Bums, who had several players in that had byes, but as it turned out had little impact on the outcome of the game.  The Crush got 24 points from the Ravens special teams, getting 12 from "Mother" Tucker and 12 from the Ravens D on their way to a 34-10 win.

Lockett scores key TD in the Killer win!
In the upset of the week, and maybe of the year, the Killers upset the previously undefeated Sinistars 32-25!  The Sinistars didn't get the points they got from well known players such as McLaurin and Coleman.  Plus Wilson only had 4 points, his lowest of the season, and his only TD pass went to Killers' Lockett.  Killers were able to take advantage of that adding 10 points from Jason "Michael" Myers and 6 more from one of his Browns (and I'm not talking Cleveland here).

With a Crush win and a Sinistars loss, Crush trail by only 2 now.  Sinistars have shown their is chinks in the Sinistar Armor.

Player of the Week:  Aaron Rodgers, QB, Bees - 26 points...wait, no he was on the bench...Marvin Jones, WR, Bees - 24 points (same team regardless...)
smh

Bring on Week 8!

CFHL Week 3

USSR and Goon Crew are leading the way after 3 weeks in the CFHL...

Grubauer had a good week for the Crew
Goon Crew vs. Who Gives a Puck 5-0-1 - Goon Crew continue to roll as they shut out the Puck this week.  Only goals were tied at 10, rest of the categories Crew dominated in.  Pastrnak scored 7 goals for the Crew and both Fleury and Grubauer had 2 wins each leading the Crew to the tops in goalie wins for the season.

Assassins vs. California Raisins 5-1 - The Raisins were shriveled up this week in the cross hairs of the Assassins.  Assassins completely dominated all categories besides goals.  Assassins were on a mission hitting the Raisins 49 times, getting three players in double digit hits. (Marchessault, Ristolainen and Trouba).

White Mambas strike again
Cherry's Checkers vs. Mayhem on Ice - 3-1-2 - It was a close one but the Checkers managed to skate by with 3 wins against the Mayhem.  Both teams goalies combined for just one win each in this lackluster game.  Nathan MacKinnon for the Mayhem had 3 goals as did Huberdeau.

White Mambas vs. La Femme Nikita  4-1-1 - Mambas got 4 wins this week to try to keep up with the Goon Crew.  La Femme Nikita having a rough start to the season after lighting it up last year.  They only needed 7 goals to win goal categories and even though John Carlson had 7 assist for Mamba they lost assist to Nikita.

Krampus Carols vs. AshBusters 3-1-2 - As the season gets closer to December, the Krampus starts to get stronger and stronger.  This week they sneaked by the AshBusters in a tight one.  They were tied in assists and PPP and Krampus only beat the AshBusters by 2 goals.  Ovechkin smashed the AshBusters with 17 hits to go along with his 2 goals and 3 assists.
Krampus fans getting fired up!

USSR vs. The Greek Empire 3-2-1 - The Greek Empire almost pulled off the upset of the USSR.  They needed just one additional goalie win to pull it off.  Blue liner Morgan Rielly for the Greek Empire put up impressive numbers for a D man with 2 goals, 4 assists and 2 PPP.
CFHL stadium series went to Russia for the USSR game.

Three Stars of the Week:

Number one Star:  David Pastrnak, F, Crew - 7 goals, 2 assists, 6 PPP and 2 hits

Number Two Star:  John Carlson, D, White Mambas - 1 goal, 7 assists, 2 PPP and 4 hits

Number Three Star:  Darcy Kuemper, G, AshBusters - 2 Wins, .938 SV%

Goon of the Week:  Alex Ovechkin, F, Krampus Carols - 17 hits

CFFL Week 6

We are almost to the halfway point of the CFFL regular season.  Sinistars remain undefeated at 6-0.  Goon Crew and Cocktails lead divisions at 5-1.  Dragons lead the South at 4-2.  Mayhem still without a win.  And we are at the dreaded home and home weeks!

Cocktails 34  Killers 24 - The Killers almost pulled off the upset but it wasn't in the cards as one play turned this game completely around.  Cocktails seemed to be clicking on all cylinders again with their Chief players getting two 10 point connections from Mahomes to Hill in Hill's first game back from injury.  Game was 28-24 for the Cocktails.  Lockett catches a 16 yard TD pass to give the Killers the lead 30-28!!!  But wait.  Official review of the play reversed the call and put the ball on the one.  Score back to 28-24.  Chris Carson for the Cocktails would plunge it in from one yard out instead to put the game away 34-24.  A 12 point swing in favor of the Cocktails and a heart breaker for the Killers.
Carson gets game winner, instead of Lockett

Ferrets 28  Dragons 27 - Talk about a nail bitter.  After getting rushing TDs from Lamar Jackson, Elliott and Damien "the good" Williams, the Ferrets had to sweat out the Sunday Night game.  Dragons had Rivers and Mike Williams and needed just 9 points.  One 10 point connection would win the game for the Dragons.  Chargers and Rivers looked like shit.  However Rivers did manage to throw 2 TDs to get the Dragons to within one point.  Unfortunately for the Dragons time ran out and the Ferrets held on for the win.
Rivers had a rough night

Wrecking Crew 23  Killer Bees 18 - In another nail bitter, after another double digit performance by McCaffrey, the Crew saw the Bees score 12 points seconds apart as Prescott ran in a TD while the Broncos got the shut out.  Down only 5 points, the Killer Bees had Marvin "Gay" Jones and Jimmy Graham "Craker ass cracker" Monday night.  Both the Packers and the Lions had several red zone drives and chances for both of their WRs to score.  Each time they came up empty, needing only one TD.
McCaffrey scoring at will for Crew

Around the league...

Animals have little trouble with the win less Mayehm 47-22.  Matt "Shark Eyes" Ryan fired in 16 big points and Nick Chubb "Chubb, chubb, chubb" had another nice game scoring 12 points.  Deshaun Watson scored 17 points in the loss for the Mayhem.
Ryan scores 16 points in the Animal win!

Chislers showing the effects of poor Ram performances, got only 6 points from their 5 Rams (Goff, Brown, Kupp, Woods, and Zuerlein).  Devonta "Colin, Randy" Freeman finally came alive with 2 scores for the Titans and Prater just kept pouring it on with 16 points Monday night.  Final score 38-13 for the Titans

Diggs scores three times for the Krauts!
Krauts get 18 points from Diggs "Dig Dug" on their way to a 35-25 victory over the Bums.  Bums did get 11 from Mayfield but little help from anyone else.  Kamara posted another goose egg and has been a disappointment so far this year scoring only 12 points in 6 weeks (week 3).

Juggernauts unloaded on the Crush 45-25 after the Crush took a 12 point lead from Brady on Thursday night.  Led by 12 points from Curtis Samuel and Slye "and the Family Stone" 13 points the Juggs took back the lead 25-12 lead.  They never looked back.  Crush only got real production from Brady and Justin "Mother" Tucker.

Sinistars remain undefeated beating down the Roulette 52-28.  Is it the year of the Sinistar?  "Run Cowards!"  Wilson had 14 points and is his 4th week out of 6 he has double digit points.  They are not only getting points from people you would expect (Wilson and Conner), but guys like Tevin Coleman and Terry McLaurin "McWho?" are getting points (24 between the 2 of them).
Wilson leading Sinistars to 6-0

Player of the Week:  Stefon Diggs "Dig Dug", WR, Krauts - 18 points

Look ahead at the Home and Home series:

The North:
Animals vs. Wrecking Crew - Crew can put strangle hold on North with a sweep.
Ferrets vs. Chislers - Both teams 3-3 and need a sweep to keep pace with the Crew.

The South:
Bees vs. Dragons - Dragons want to sweep this series so bad. Bees could gain lead in South with a sweep.
Titans vs. Mayhem - Mayhem just want a win.

The East:
Cocktails vs. Juggs - Cocktails, up 3 games in the east could further their lead to 4 with the sweep!
Krauts vs. Roulette - Both teams already playing for their playoff lives, both 2-4 teams.

The West:
Crush vs. Bums - Bums need a sweep to get back in the West race.
Sinistars vs. Killers - Trouble for Killers playoff hopes going up against the red hot Sinistars.  A Sinistar sweep to go to 8-0 almost guarantees a playoff spot.

CFHL Week 2

2 weeks into the CFHL season.  Let's get right into it...

Here comes Nikita...
Goon Crew vs. Assassins 6-0 - The Crew swept the Assassins taking all categories and started out fast getting 3 goals and 11 assists on Tuesday!  The Crew would finish with a week leading 27 assists.  Patrick Laine had 6 helpers and 12 hits to boot!

La Femme Nikita vs. California Raisins 5-1 - Took the new California team a whole 2 weeks to change their name already from the Policia to the California Raisins.  However I do like the new name better...  Didn't help with the game though as they were up against a much more formidable opponent in the Nikita.  Jake Guentzel lead La Femme Nikita with 4 goals.

Mayhem on Ice vs. Krampus Carols 4-2 - One of the league's most bitter rivalry had the Mayhem getting the best of the Krampus.  It was disappointing for the Krampus as they dominated in the goalie categories getting 5 wins and a .953 SV% from Hellebuyck and Rask.

Rask at least did his part for the Krampus...

White Mambas vs. The Greek Empire 3-2-1 - Mambas sneak away with another 3 wins this week, this time against he expansion Greek Empire.  Best players in this match up was Connor McDavid  (2-5-5-3) for the Mambas and Brad Marchand (3-3-2-0) for the Empire.

USSR vs. AshBusters 5-1 - Another big rivalry, this one from the Mother Land, had USSR ready to play!  They dominated almost all categories.  They had a week leading 17 goals, 5 from James Neal and 3 from Mark Stone.  They beat up the AshBusters too getting 54 hits to their 39, including 15 from Brayden McNabb and 13 from Drew Doughty.

Checkers vs. Who Gives a Puck 5-1 - The Checkers got things going in the right direction taking down the defending champs and they did it with 2 players in their starting line up who were injured.  Leon Draisaitl led the Checkers with 3 goals, 3 assists and 2 PPP.
Checkers taking the ice vs. Puck

Week 2 Stars of the Week:

Number 1 Star:  Connor McDavid, C, White Mambas - 2G, 5A, 5PPP and 3 hits

Number 2 Star:  Patrik Laine,  F, Goon Crew - 2G, 6A, 1PPP and 12 hits

Number 3 Star:  Sidney Crosby, C, AshBusters - 2G, 4A, 2PP, and 4 hits

Goon of the Week:  Baryden McNabb, D, USSR - 15 hits

See you next week!
