CFFL Week 7

We have arrived at the halfway point of the regular season!  How is that possible?  Time flies when you're having fun, or in my case not having fun.  Are the Chislers and Legion on a collision course to meet in the Fantasy Bowl?  Both teams continue to win and are both 6-1.

Here is what happened in Week 7:

Chilsers 35  Wrecking Crew 14 - The Crew are awful and the Chislers are good.  Only points the Crew could manager were from their kicker and QB.  The Chislers got TDs from both backs, Pacheco "Peak at my Butthole" and Robinson.  Jordan Addison "Not Mattison" scored 2 meaningless TDs to lead the Chislers.

Addison hauled in two TDs for the Chislers

Animals 19  Ferrets 18 - Boring but close one.  Ferrets led the Animals 18-15 going into MNF no thanks to the fact they didn't have a starting K or Defense.  What's up with that?  But they still had a lead.  Animals needed just 1 TD pass from Brock Purdy to win and they got it, but it was a struggle.

Purdy had only 1 TD pass but was enough for the win

Warbirds 37  Dragons 18 - The Warbirds were all over the Dragons this week in the battle for the South.  The 18 points Dragons had all came from QB Lamar Jackson.  Warbirds were led by Jalen Hurts' 14 points and two TDs from Etienne.  If only the Dragons could have got some production from any of their other players.  They even got zero from their kicker!

Hurts throws for 14 points in the Warbirds win!

Titans 41  Killer Bees 27 - The Titans have won 2 in a row, this week defeating the Bees by scoring over 40 points for the second week in a row as well.  Kareem Hunt had 12 points for the Titans and kicker Dustin "Anthony" Hopkins kicked in 15 points!

Hunt is back and scored twice for the Titans

Juggernauts 45  Sinistars 29 - In a big game in the East the Juggernauts came away with the win and move into first place in the East.  CMC had two TDs late and now has scored in 16 straight games!  But the leading scorer for the Juggs?  Not CMC.  Not Amari Cooper.  Not Stefon "Dig Dug" Diggs.  It was Gardner Minshew "Magic" who had 20 points!

CMC 16 games in a row!  Now that's a Fantasy Football player

Krauts 22  Cocktails - The Krauts get the upset over the Cocktails, who have been working the trade market to try to make a run.  Well hasn't worked after one game.  Josh Allen of the Krauts scored 15 points in the win.  Cocktails did get 6 points from newly acquired WR A.J. Brown, who was unhappy in the Crew camp and was happy for the trade.

Allen scored 15 big points in the Krauts victory

Iron Legion 24  Killers 17 - The Legion move to 6-1 and keep rolling.  While they didn't get a lot of production from their players they did hit on a 10 point connection when Herbert found Everett in the end zone for a TD.

That is what 10 points looks like...

Whales 50  Crush 19 - The defending champ Whales finally woke up and put a fifty-burger on the Crush who dropped to 1-6.  Mahomes came alive and threw for 16 points for the Whales.  They also got TDs from Barkley, Evans, Meyers  and a 10 point connection to Rashee Rice!

Finally put up MVP numbers

Player of the Week:  Gardner Minshew, QB, Juggs, 20 points

Mid Season Grades:

North:
Cherry's Chislers - Grade A:   At 6-1 they seemed poised for a run.  They win even with out Burrow and Chase.
Alex's Animals - Grade B+:   Animals only 1 game back and seem to have RBs that can keep them in games
Fez's Ferrets - Grade C-:  Need to make sure he keeps an eye on his line up.  By end of season he will likely get Goffed.
Wrecking Crew - Grade D:  It is a rebuilding year for the Crew.  With limited draft picks this year, it is showing.

South:
Weiland's Warbirds - Grade B:  With Jalen Hurts on the team they have to be considered a contender.  And if Achane comes back, look out.
Monclova Dragons - Grade B-:  One of the best team the Dragons have had in years.  Jackson can put up big points.  Mostert a beast.  Need to have Jackson hit Flowers more often.
Killer Bees - Grade D+:  There is potential on this team (Kupp, LaPorta, Pickens) but nothing has materialized.
Toledo Titans - Grade D:  Mac Jones and Zach Wilson are just not gonna get it done...

East:
Stamm's Sinistars - Grade A-:  This team has a lot of firepower with Ekeler, Hall, Montgomery and Lawrence.  Too bad they can't run the wishbone.
Jakes' Juggernauts - Grade B:  This team will depend on McCaffrey.  Minshew's magic will fade.
Molotov Cocktails - Grade B:  They are assembling a team to make a run.  Tua can light it up and the running game of Walker and Henry is dangerous.
Kretz Krauts - Grade C-:  Hard to find a bright spot outside of Josh Allen with this team...

West:
Iron Legion - Grade A-:  Grade more based on record than players.  Feel that they are too dependent on Chargers (3 players) and Packers (5 players).
Monterey Bay Whales - Grade C:  Hard to count out the champs with Mahomes, but this roster has lots of holes
Cam's Killers - Grade D:  Clearly a team lost with out Tom Brady.  Tyreek Hill could go for a high draft pick...
Cabucki's Crush - Grade F - At 1-6 the Crush have given up on the season.  And now Jefferson, their best player, is hurt.

CFFL Week 6

Hard to believe we are through Week 6 and almost halfway through the regular season.  Week 5 saw the final undefeated team go down as the Chislers got upset by the Titans!

In the North the Chislers lead Animals by one game and the Ferrets are close behind too.  The Crew are quickly fading away at 2-4.  Its a rebuilding year for the Crew...

The South is shaping up to be a two team race between the Dragons (4-2) and the Warbirds (3-3).  Titans are a distant 1-5...

The East is just like the North, with the Sinistars on top at 5-1 leading the Juggs by 1 game.  Cocktails lurking at 3-3.  Surprisingly the Krauts are the one fading away...

And in the West it is looking like a runaway for the Legion at 5-1.  Next closest are the Killers and Whales at 2-4.  Crush have already announced a fire sale at 1-5.

Week 6's action:

Killer Bees 29  Wrecking Crew 7 - Crew's only points came from their kicker Cairo Santos "Todd Chontos".  Pathetic.  The Bees had a balance scoring attack getting 6 each from Stevenson, Cooper Kupp and Curtis Samuel.

Kupp scores his first TD for the Bees

Dragons 42  Ferrets 22 - NoStart was a MustStart as Mostert found paydirt 3 times for 18 big points in the rout of the Ferrets.  A 10 point connection started things off early Sunday morning as Jackson hit Flowers for a TD to set the tone.

Flowers and Jackson connect for 10

Animals 24  Warbirds 22 - Not often is it a kicker that cost you a game.  Think back to Fantasy Bowl XXII where all the Crew needed was 6 points from Robbie Gould on the last game of the year to beat the Crush, and didn't...Well all the Warbirds needed was 3 points from their kicker.  Just a measly FG!  Nope.  Lutz would not get a single chance, plus their back up kicker was on a bye.  Animals Kicker Brett Maher didn't have any issues, scoring 14 points!

Maher kicked in 14 points for Animals

Titans 41  Chislers 22 - The Titans upset the Chislers and got their first win of the year!  They hadn't scored over 22 points all season.  So why not score 41 the week they play the Chislers.  Titan Kicker Dustin "Dusty" Hopkins scored 13 points and they got TDs from Hubbard, Swift, Thielen, and Waddle!

Waddle, waddle, waddle...

Iron Legion 22  Krauts 21 - The Legion were trailing the Krauts 21-2 into Monday Night, but they weren't worried.  They had Herbert, Pollard, Allen, Everett and the Cowboys D!  Turns out the Legion would get two 10 point connections from Herbert.  One to Keenan Allena and the other to Gerald Everett!

Herbert tossed two 10 point connections!

Juggernauts 11 Crush 10 - This has to be one of the all time lowest scoring CFFL game in history.  Juggernauts got a TD from McCaffrey for his 15th straight game with a TD but they might be concerned with an injury that prevented him from finishing the game.

McCaffrey scored in a sloppy game

Cocktails 35  Killers 23 - The Cocktails were able to dispense of the Killers with relative easy behind 12 points from their QB Tua Tagovailoa.  They also got scores from each of their RBs; Derrick "King" Henry and Kenneth Walker III.

Tua staying healthy and tossing TDs

Sinistars 20  Whales 19 - In a close one, the Sinistars edged the Whales by one point.  They were led by a 10 point connection from Lawrence to "Captain" Kirk.  Injuries continue to mount up for the Sinistars.  Gibbs is already out, Higgins had missed a few games but could be back.  Montgomery was hurt in the game as was their star QB Lawrence.

Kirk and Lawrence lead the Sinistars

Player of the Week - Raheem Mostert, RB, Dragons - 18 points

Next week we enter the dreaded Home and Home series:

Chislers get to pound on the Crew for two weeks in a row while the Animals v. Ferrets battle will dictate who will have an inside track to catch the Chislers and who should just give up...

Big home and home pitting Dragons v. Warbirds.  Dragons could really stretch their lead in the South or the Warbirds could fly past them.  Bees and Titans..Bees hope for a sweep to try to move up the wild card ladder...

Sinistars take on the Juggs in the the East home and home and is equally important as the South first place battle.  Coctails hope to pound the Krauts to keep pace in the East, but the Krauts will be looking to play the role of spoiler.

The Legion just hope to keep trucking along and will get the Killers for two weeks in a row.  Whales will play a depleted Crush team and hope to sweep them to have an outside chance in the West.

CFFL Week 5

Then there was one.  The Chislers are the lone undefeated team after they hammered the Dragons 50-18.  The Iron Legion fell to the Sinistars for their first loss of the season.  Things just get easier for the Chislers as they take on the winless Titans next week.

Here is what happened in Week 5...

Warbirds 31  Wrecking Crew 22 - Jalen Hurts led the Warbirds with 10 points and a win against the Crew.  Warbirds now tied with Dragons in the two team race in the South.  One of Hurts TD passes went to Warbird TE Goedert for a 10 point connection.  Both teams left lots of points on the bench.  Warbirds benched Etienne that had 14 points and the Crew started the wrong kicker benching Santos "Todd Chontos" who had 16 points!

Hurts had 10 points for the Birds..

Ferrets 54  Killer Bees 36 - Ferrets got a great game from Jared Goff, who had 18 big points but two of Goff's TD passes wen to Bees TE LaPorta.  Ferrets still trailed the Bees late 36-32 going into SNF.  They wouldn't trail for long as they got 3 TD catches from George Kittle "K.I. T.T. Boy" to soar past the Bees laying a 50-burger on them.

Goff, "Are you not entertained?!"

Chislers 50  Dragons 18 - Speaking of 50-Burgers, the Chislers had one of their own against the Dragons.  This game was never in question as the Chislers were scoring at will in the afternoon window.  They got not one, not two, but three 10-point connections from Joe Burrow to Ja'Marr Chase!  Puka "Tuukka" Nacua also got a score.  Puka Nacua! Puka Nacua!!

Chase finally found the end zone...3 times!

Animals 24  Titans 21 - Down 21-8 heading into the SNF game, the Animals had some fire power to make a comeback with QB Purdy and WR Lamb.  Turns out it was a big night for Brock Purdy.  He would have 4 TD passes that night for 16 points and the 24-21 win.

Mr. Irrelevant? I think not!

Sinistars 22  Iron Legion 11 - With the Chargers on bye the Legion had little offense in this game.  No Herbert or Keenan Allen spelled doom.  Only Legion kicker Elliott would score.  Sinistars ground game dominated with TDs from Breece Hall and Montgomery.

Breece "Kids in the" Hall scores for Sinistars

Cocktails 37  Whales 22 - Fantasy Bowl hangover for the Whales?  They drop to 2-3 after winning the Fantasy Bowl last year.  They have given up 63 and 71 points and this week the Cocktails get 17 points from their kicker Greg "The Leg" in the win over the Whales.

Greg "The Leg" boots in 17 huge points for Cocktails

Juggernauts 24  Killers 22 - It wasn't like the Killers had a chance with a 22-12 lead going into Sunday night against the Juggs who had McCaffrey and kicker Jake Moody "Blues" going.  They would combine for 12 points to give the Juggs the win 24-22.  It could have been a lot worse for the Killers had the Juggs started Fields (16 points ) and Zack "Mitch" Moss (12 points).

McCaffrey has scored in 14 straight games!

Krauts 59  Crush 23 - Krauts returned to dominance, at least for one week, pounding the Crush 59-23.  This game was over as soon as it began with 18 points from D.J. "T.C." Moore "Bookkeeping" on Thursday night!  Throw in 14 more points from Josh Allen early Sunday Morning and the Crush didn't even need to get out of bed.  What a waste of a 12 point performance from the Crush/Saints defense too.

Moore gets 3 TDs for Krauts!

Player of the Week:  George Kittle, TE, Ferrets - 18 points

CFFL Week 4

Four weeks in the books already!  And then there were two.  As was predicted last week the two prevailing undefeated teams would be the Chislers, who took care of the Bees, and the Legion, who dropped 50 on the Cocktails.  The Animals handed the Dragons their first loss of the season.

Chislers at 4-0 now have a 2 game lead in the North and will take on the 3-1 Dragons.  Could this be the week the Chislers finally lose?  I'm going to say yes.  Iron Legion are the top scoring team in the league and will battle the Sinistars.  The Legion become the lone undefeated team.

Now let's take a look at last week's action...

Wrecking Crew 26 Titans 19 - The Crew kept the Titans winless finally getting production from A.J. Brown.  Brown scored his first TDs of the year last week, catching 2!  Josh Jacobs "Jingleheimerschmidt" also found the end zone for the first time for the Crew.  Is it signs of things to come?  Crew hope so.
AJ Brown hauls in a TD for Crew

Chislers 24  Bees 22 - Chislers needed a late TD on Sunday night from Pacheco "Peak at my Butthole" to give them a comfortable lead going into Monday night.  The Bees had kicker Jason "Michael" Myers and with kicking 6 points would have won had it not been for the Pacheco TD.  Chislers remain undefeated and have a commanding lead in the North despite Joe Burrow's pathetic play thus far.

"Peak at my butthole, peak at my butthole!"

Animals 45  Dragons 35 - Dragons got 20 points from QB Lamar Jackson but didn't get any points from anybody else except their kicker and defense.  Animals however got 12 points from waiver wire pick up of the year RB Kyren Williams.  So far Williams has scored 2 TDs in 3 out of 4 games this year!
Kyren Williams scores twice again!

Warbirds 45  Ferrets 24 - Warbirds rolled the Ferrets getting 12 points from Achane "Acne" and 12 points from Nico Collins.  Speaking of Kyren Williams, Achane now has 6 TDs in the past two weeks!  Maybe he is the waiver pick up of  the year...Kelce somehow didn't score with Taylor Swift in the stands.
Achane has been scoring at will past two weeks!

Sinistars 29  Crush 14 - The Sinistars took an early lead and never looked back.  David Montgomery, who was questionable even to play, eventually got the green light to start and he didn't disappoint with 3 TD runs.  The Crush QB woes continue.  With Jimmy G out, Kenny "Baby Hands" Pickett hurt his knee in the game.
Montgomery runs in 3 TDs for Sinistars!

Legion 50  Cocktails 28 - Week 1 the Legion scored 63 points.  This week the reach 50 against the  Cocktails and they did it unconventionally.  QB Justin Herbert had 16  huge points, but the story once again for the Legion was their Defense and kicker.  Jake Elliott had 14 points in the game and their defense, the Cowboys, scored multiple TDs again.  This week they got two INT returns.

Herbert leads Legion to 50 points

Krauts 45  Killers 17 - Killers didn't have a chance against the Krauts and QB Josh Allen.  Allen had 22 points, outscoring the entire Killers team!  D.J. "T.C." Moore "Bookkeeping" caught a TD pass for the Krauts as did Calvin "and Hobbs" Ridley.

Josh Allen had 22 points for the Krauts

Juggernauts 71  Whales 8 - What is up with the Whales' defense?  They gave up 63 in Week 1 and now 71!  The Juggs had huge games from three of their players.  QB Anthony Richardson had 16 points that included a rushing TD.  WR Stefon "Dig Dug" Diggs had 18 points!  And last but not certainly least, Christian McCaffrey found the end zone 4 times for 24 points!  Some might wonder is 71 points a record?  Not even close.  The Chislers scored 88 points in 1998 vs. the Power.  In fact 71 points won't even crack the top 5.

Diggs celebrates with Juggs fans doing his best
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin impression

Player of the Week:  Christian MCaffrey, RB, Juggernauts - 24 points
