CFFL Week 8

We are finally done with the home and home series in the CFFL and I don't know about you, but I am relieved its over.  Let's take a look at how the key home and home series ended up.

Chislers 46  Wrecking Crew 45
Chislers completed the sweep of the Crew to send the Crew to 4-4 and at the bottom of the North.  The game ended a lot closer than the Chislers would have liked.  After Goff hit Gurley for an 11 point play late and Thielen scored Sunday night Chislers seemed to be in a comfortable 46-33 lead.  James "Must have the" White scored for the Crew but the 2 point conversion didn't go to White and was no good for the Pats.  The Patriot D would then get a pick 6 very late in the game to close to within one but there wasn't enough time and the Chislers prevailed.
Gurley and Goff came up big for the Chislers

Cocktails 36  Krauts 25
As predicted by the Cocktails they would sweep the Krauts and take control of the Eastern Bloc.  While it wasn't a typical Cocktails/Crush point explosion, they did get 34 of their 36 points from their Chief players.  Mahomes had another big game with 16 points.
Mahomes continues to shine for the Cocktails

Mayhem 41  Dragons 28
The Mayhem got some revenge defeating the Dragons by getting points from every player except their defense.  I mean it was a classic QB battle between Josh "Hebrew Hammer" Rosen and C.J. "Who's this guy" Beathard.  The Dragons remain 2 games ahead of the rest in the division, so they are not too worried...
Rough day for the Hebrew Hammer and the Dragons

Sinistars 62  Crush 36
The Sinistars were not happy about their performance last week and came into this game firing scoring 62 points.  Yet again multiple people tallied 12 points or more for the Sinistars.  This week it was Wilson, Conner and Peterson.  This is the third week the Sinistars have done that, and the 4th that at least 2 people have scored 12 points each.  Watson had enough of carrying the Crush and after scoring 20 points in the loss demanded a trade.  Let's see how happy he is as a Titan.  The West is all tied up now.
Peterson found fountain of youth with Sinistars?

Roulette 52  Juggernauts 17
Not to be outdone, the Roulette finally got their offense going, after they traded some of their malcontents in their locker room.  They had 3 players with 12 and a player with 10 (Wentz, Drake, Watkins, Vinatieri).
Wentz led the Roulette with 3 TD passes

Animals 62 Ferrets 25
And Animals followed suit with 3 players at 12 or more (Newton "Happy Cam" 14, Jones and Hopkins both with 12) in the massacre of the Ferrets.  This game was over after Thursday night when they took an early 24-0 lead and never looked back.
It was a Happy Cam Day for the Animals

Other games...Bums took care of business against the hapless Killers 30-10 behind 24 points from their Saints Kamara and Lutz versus only 4 points from the Killer's Saints Brees and Watson...Titans defeated the Bees 31-24.  After a disappointing performance from Brady, Titans made a bold move and traded him away for Deshaun Watson. Time will tell if that move puts them on the winning track to make the playoffs....
Kamara had it easy against the lifeless Killers

Player of the Week:  Deshaun Watons, Crush - 20 points.

So...The Chislers are once a top of the North with the Animals 2 games back and might have finally shook off the last of their Fantasy Bowl Champion Hangover...Despite the loss the Dragons still in the driver seat in the East up 2 games...The East is getting tight now after the Cocktail sweep of the Krauts as they are tied with the Juggs one game back.  But don't we all expect the Cocktails/Chiefs to just run away with the East now?...And the West remains a 2 team race between the Crush and Sinistars.  But the Bums after 2 wins over the Killers now are just a game behind...

CFFL Week 7

After 7 weeks things seem to be right with the world again in the CFFL.  In the North every team is above .500 while in the south only one team is above .500 and in the Eastern Bloc the top 3 teams are a combined 16-5.  Let's see how the key Home and Home match ups ended up...

Cherry's Chislers 57  Wrecking Crew 42
Despite the Crew scoring 42 points the Chislers cruised to an easy victory.  Todd Gurley scored 18 points which included a TD catch from Goff resulting in the nail in the coffin 11 point connection.  Crew were without their star player Gordon who was nursing an injury.  The win gives the Chislers a 2 game lead going into the second half of the Home and Home with the Crew.
Gurley and Woods of the Chisler/Rams

Cocktails 49  Krauts 13
The Cocktails have been saying the Krauts were bums all year and couldn't wait to get a piece of them.  Well they stepped right on their throat and don't look like they are going to remove that boot until after next week.  All 49 points came from their Chief players (Mahomes-16, Hunt-18, Hill-6 and Butker-9).  Not hard when your starting line up is all Chiefs except for one player.  What will happen in Week 12?  Meh, one loss rest of the year they can handle.
The Cocktails...

Crush 21  Sinistars 16
Advantage goes to the Crush as they take game one of the Home and Home and take a game (and a half) lead over the Sinistars in the West.  Crush are managing despite two QBs that are having disappointing seasons to say the least (Watson and Carr).  Sinistars will have Wilson back in the lineup for game two and could be the difference.
Watson has yet to live up to  expectations this year...

Dragons 44  Mayhem 14
The Mayhem are just waiting for Hockey season.  Dragons kept the Mayhem winless behind 10 points from Sanders, and 8 from Rivers.  Dragons had to feel good going into the game knowing the Mayhem started C.J. Beathard.  They still hold a 2 game lead in the South over the Killer Bees.
Rivers leading the Dragons in the South

Around the league...Ferrets fell to the Animals 20-15 slipping 2 games behind the Chislers after losing their 3rd straight.  It looked promising starting 4-0 but things have taken a turn.  The Animals winning their 2nd in a row might have finally shaken off their Fantasy Bowl hang over...Juggs dispensed the Roulette 55-25 behind Luck's 16 points.  Luck has 81 points on the season and he and the Juggs are the quietest 5-2 team in the CFFL...Bees defeated the Titans 28-21 sending the Titans to a record of 2-5.  Were the orange shorts a one year phenom?...Bums had it easy with the Killers 40-23 after starting the game with 2 defensive TDs (Broncos).  Injury bug has bitten the Killers with Lynch and Ginn going on IR...
Don't look now but Luck and the Juggs are 5-2

Player of the Week:  Todd Gurley, RB, Chislers and Kareem Hunt, RB, Cocktails - 18 points

Is this future pictures of this year's Fantasy Bowl.  The way the Chislers/Rams and Cocktails/Chiefs are going it certainly could be.  The only thing in the way is if Rams and Chiefs have things wrapped up early and sit their starters in the final week or two of the season...Did you know Gurley has 14 TDs already and this is his 2nd MVP of the Week.  Plus he has weeks of 22 points and 18 twice?  Impressive.

CFFL Week 6

Week 6 in the books.  Chislers lead the North one game ahead of the Ferrets and Crew, while in the South the Dragons are starting to run away with it up 2 games.  The Krauts goosestep continues as they remain undefeated and the West is a battle between the Bums and Crush.

A Fifty-burger for the 5th week in a row
The Dragons eclipsed the fifty point mark defeating the Ferrets 57-32.  Albert Wilson scored twice and Gostkowski really put the game away on Sunday night kicking a week high 19 points!

Wilson scored 2 TDs for the Dragons

Chiefs/Cocktails are back
Trailing the Killers 23-9 after an Edelman TD catch, the Cocktails unleashed their Chiefs.  Mahomes (16), Hunt (6) and Hill (18) combined for 40 points ending the game 49-23.

Hill scored 18 points of the 40 Chief Cocktails

Game of the Week:  Roulette 46 Sinistars 41
This was a shoot out!  6 players in this game scored in the double digits.  The Sinistars took command of the game behind 12 points from Wilson, Conner and Boyd.  In fact at one point the only players scoring TDs in the Bengals/Steelers game was the Sinistars.  The Roulette were down 41-34 going into Monday Night with only Adams left.  One TD wouldn't be enough.  Well no problem because in the final minutes of the game Adams caught his 2nd TD for the game winner!

Adams catches the winning TD for the Roulette
Gordon scored 3 times for the Crew!
Around the League...The Crew held on against the Bees 39-29, sweating out the Monday night game hoping Rodgers wouldn't hit Graham for a 10 point connection.  Gordon led the Crew with 3 TDs....The Krauts remained undefeated edging the Bums 25-18.  Cousins continues to lead the Goosestepping of the league scoring 10 points in the win...Juggernauts had little trouble with the Crush winning 32-20.  Luck was back tossing 16 points.  Crush had 16 points from Butker late but had little help from the rest of the team...The Mayhem have yet to win a game this year going 0-6.  They made things interesting against the Animals who were led by Alex Collins' 12 points. Down 35-10 and seemingly out the Mayhem got 2 unexpected 10 point connections from Beathard to Goodwin late Monday night.  Unfortunately for them they couldn't get a third and lost their 6th straight...The Chislers seem to be tracking for another Fantasy Bowl run.  Even when Goff comes up empty they still score over 40 points defeating the Titans 41-32.  It helps when Gurley gets 2 and then three other players score TDs along with Cairo Santos "Todd Chontos" 11 points.

Player of the Week:  Stephen Gostkowski, Kicker, Dragons - 19 points

Kickers are Fantasy Players too.

Home and Home series are now upon us already!  Here are some of the key Home and Home series to note this year:

Chislers vs. Wrecking Crew - The longest and most storied rivalry in the CFFL.  Brothers battle and should go a long way to determine the King in the North.

Cocktails vs Krauts - Can anyone stop the Krauts?  Or can anyone stop the Cocktails when they are hot? A sweep by the Cocktails makes this division a whole new race.

Dragons vs Mayhem - Another big rivalry in the CFFL the Dragons could really but the squeeze on the South with a sweep of the hapless Mayhem.

Crush vs. Sinistars - Both teams are tied for first in the West.  Split means nothing.  A sweep means everything.

CFFL Week 5

Hard to believe that we have played 5 weeks already and the mid point of the season is only 2 weeks away!

Fifty-Burger once again
Chislers defeated the Dragons 55-22 to move to a tie for first place in the North. The Chislers are starting to look like one of the favorites to go to the Fantasy Bowl with their team of Rams.  This week Gurley got in the end zone  3 times for 18 points while Antonio Brown scored 2 TDs.  Despite the loss the Dragons remained in first place in the South.
Brown scores twice for red hot Chislers

Ferrets undefeated no more,  Roulette finally get a win.
The Ferrets couldn't get the production out of Diggs "Dig Dug" and Elliott they were hoping for to remain undefeated.  Killer Bees were led by some late game stat building TDs by Rodgers that eventually put the game out of reach....Roulette got their first win of the season defeating the Bums 36-17.  Beckham finally showed up scoring 10 points and Wentz threw for 8 points.  Roulette are 1-4 in a division with the only undefeated team in the league....ouch.
Rodgers scores 13 for the Bees

Cocktails on a 2 game skid
The Cocktails started on fire riding the arm of Mahomes and the team of the Chiefs and at one time looked like they couldn't be stopped.  Well things have slowed down some for the Cocktails and the scoring of the Chiefs.  Plus didn't help they ran into a buzz saw named the Sinistars.  The Sinistars got double digit point production from 4 players (Wilson, Conner, Ingram, Rosas).
Ingram is back and made an immediate impact!

Krauts the only undefeated team left
The Krauts continue their goosestepping of the league as they move to 5-0 after defeating the Crush in a low scoring hard fought game 19-16.  It was a kicker battle as the Crush got almost all their production form Butker who had 12.  Justin "Mother" Tucker for the Krauts kicked in 9.
Krauts continue to goosestep through the CFFL

3 10-point connections so far for these guys
Around the league...The Crew notch their second in a row to remain a game behind in the North.  Stafford and Golladay hit for their 3rd 10 point connection on the season defeating the Mayhem 35-22.  Mayhem have yet to win a game...The Fantasy Bowl hangover still lingers with the Animals as they fell to the Titans 41-33.  Good Old Tom was MVP of the game throwing for 18 big points...Luck and Barkley combined for 24 points in the Juggernauts victory over the Killers 29-19.  The Game was still in doubt as Brees tried to bring the Killers all the way back tossing a pass to Watson late in the game for a 10 point connection to tie, but Watson was tackled short of the end zone.

Co-Players of the Week:  Tom Brady, Titans and Todd Gurley, Chislers - 18 points

CFFL Week 4

Week 4 in the books and we are starting to see some separation in the league, especially in the South where the Dragons now have a 2 game lead already.  Here is how last week looked...

A pair of 65s
The Bums and Juggernauts both reached the 65 point mark as they dispensed the Cocktails and Sinistars.  The Bums survived the Cocktails/Chiefs who have been lighting it up lately.  The Cocktails were held to just 22 points and the Bums got 12 from Ryan, 18 from Kamara and 15 from their kicker Will Lutz.  The Juggernauts got points from every player but their kicker including 12 from Ridley, 12 from Matt Bryant and 17 big points from Andrew Luck in their 65-18 victory over the Sinistars.
Kamara after one of his 3 TDs

Plus a Fifty-burger
The Chislers topped the 50 point barrier defeating the Killer Bees 52-18.  Doesn't hurt when you start the game with 46 points on Thursday!  Goff, Gurley, Thielen, Robert "Ice Bucket" Woods and "Fricking" Fricken all combined for those 46!
Woods, Gurley and Goff were all smiles for the Chislers!

Game of the Week:  Crush 41  Roulette 40
What a game!  Took to the last minute of the last game of the week to decide the outcome of this game.  The Roulette were looking for their first win of the season.  Monday night it appeared to be Freeman vs. Lindsay, the two Bronco RBs.  Freeman striked first but Lindsay countered keeping the Roulette up 40-33.  Time was running out on the Crush when Kelce scored and with the Butker XP the game was tied up.  With less than 2 minutes left the Chiefs scored again and Butker kicked the XP to give the Crush the victory over the Roulette!
Butker's last XP was the game winner

"I must have the white"
Around the league...Crew defeated the Titans 47-20 led by 12 big points from James "I must have the" White, and 8 points each from Stafford and Gordon.  Titans were back to their typical self leaving Perine in who was on a bye...Animals were victorious over the Dragons 33-21.  River's did what he could for the Dragons scoring 13 points but he can't do it all on his own....Ferrets completed the North sweep over the South defeating the Mayhem 39-21.  Golden "Taint" Tate scored twice and kicker Crosby had 10 points...Drew Brees, Lynch, Agholor, Julio Jones, Hauschka.  Would you expect a team to score ZERO points with those players in the line up?  The answer is yes!  For what is believed to be the first time in CFFL history a team was shut out.  Krauts defeated the Killers 35-0.

Player of the Week:  Jared Goff, QB, Chislers - 20 points
