CFFL Week 7

Here is a brief recap of Week 7's action... sorry for the shortness and lateness of this article..

Game of the Week: Dragons 39 Titans 38
Floyd scores game winner
In game one of the Brother Battle home and home series, the Dragons won a nail biter!  After getting 10 points from Newton, 12 from Miller and 11 from "Todd Chontos" Santos, the Dragons were still trailing the Titans going into Monday Night 34-33.  The Dragons had Michael Floyd and the Raven D, while the Titans had Raven Kicker "Mother" Tucker.  It would look like the advantage would go to Titans.  But just like last week against the Crush, the Dragons were able to pull off another improbable win as Floyd caught a TD pass while Tucker only kicked in 4 points and the Ravens went for 2 on their final score of the game!!

Other home and home series:

Chislers 39 Animals 20 - Chislers took the first game from the Animals getting 26 points from Rivers and Gurley.  Another win and they are right back in the playoff hunt
Gurley scores 1 of his 2 TDs!

Ferrets 34 Wrecking Crew 28 - With 14 points from Brady, the Ferrets had no problem defeating the hapless Crew who have been in Fantasy Football Line Up Hell, never starting the right combo.

Cocktails 36  Roulette 22 - Cocktails keep pace with the Krauts with the first win in the Battle for Mother Russia.  Roulette need to get their potent 11 point connection of Ryan, Jones and Bryant going again.

Krauts 56 Juggernauts 20 - Per usual the Krauts beat up on their "friend" the Juggs getting 12 points from Jordan Reed and 16 from The Blair Walsh "Project"

Bees 40. Mayhem 32 - The Bees won the first game in OT when they got 8 points from back up kicker Andrew "Ball Park" Franks.  A wasted day for Mayhem WR Landry who had 2 big scores.

Crush 21 Mafia 11, Sinistars 21 Bums 11 - In one of the strangest coincidences, both games in the West were exact same score.  In fact they were both 15-11 going into the Monday Night game where the Crush got a TD from Forsett and Sinistars got a TD from John Brown.

CFFL Week 6

Week 6 action in the CFFL:

Game of the Week: Dragons 20 Crush 17
Beckham wins it for Dragons
While this wasn't the most high scoring exciting game, it certainly had an interesting ending.  The Dragons held only a 2 point lead 14-12 going into the Monday Night Game and it looked bleak for the Dragons as the Crush had Eli "Mouth Breather " Manning and the Giant Kicker Josh Brown "Eye".  The Ace in the hole was Dragons' Beckham, but any TD pass to anybody but Beckham would be curtains for the Dragons. The impossible happened!  Giants scored on their first drive of the game as Manning hit Beckham for the TD to make the score 20-17.  However surely the Giants would score again...a Field Goal?  Manning TD to someone else... right??  They would not and the Dragons pulled off the upset win!  This unfortunately was only the 2nd win for the Dragons and the Crush are only 1 game behind the Mafia and Bums in the West.

Bums 36  Titans 34
Another thriller at the end the Bums won with a TD pass on Sunday Night to Gronkowski to win the game despite the Titans early 12 points from Ingram on Thursday Night.  Gould had 14 for the Bums to help the effort.

Mafia 37  Bees 20

Colin Bin Laden
Mafia whacked the Bees getting 8 points each from Kaeperick, who went from Bizlat to Bin Laden look, and Forte.

Mayhem 39 Sinister 25
The Mayhem won their 5th game to go 5-1 and pull to a 2 game lead in the South.  Stafford led the team with 16 points!  The Sinistars are now 2-4 and have pulled the plug on the season offering up players for draft picks...

Ferrets 34 Juggernauts 23
The Ferrets survived the potential of a 10 point jam between Bradford and Matthews on Monday.  Getting 12 from Brady on Sunday night helped.  The Juggs are now 1-5 after trading a bunch of players away last year for a ton of draft picks.  Will they try it again?

Cocktails 30 Wrecking Crew 27
The Crew just couldn't hang on with the Cocktails and Luck threw 3 TD passes to win the game.  If only a few of those went to Fleener it might have been different.  Devonta Freeman continues to be a fantasy stud and already has 10 TDs on the season.  Rumors have it the Cocktails are working on several trades to make a big run a the Fantasy Bowl in only their 2nd season.
Freeman has 10 TDs on the year already!

Animals 41 Roulette 29
Ivory and Fitzpatrick of the Animals
A bright spot in an otherwise dismal season for the Animals as they racked up 41 points over the Roulette who's 10 point connection of Ryan and Julio Jones has gone cold lately.  Animals MVPs of the game were Fitzpatrick with 14 points and Hopkins who had 12.

Krauts 46 Chislers 28
The Chislers couldn't survive the blitzkrieg of the Krauts as kicker McManus kicked in 14 while Rodgers threw for 2 TDs and Jones flipped into the end zone for another.  The Chislers still haven't had a single point from any of their RBs, both starting or on the bench.

Player of the Week: Matthew Stafford, QB, Mayhem
Stafford threw for 4 TDs in the Mayhem's victory over the Sinistars.

Next week is the beginning of the dreaded home and home series.  Lets take a look at the implications of this freaking thing...

Chislers vs. Animals: Playing for pride mostly.  Both teams only have 2 wins.  However if one sweeps and moves to 4-4 they are right back into the playoff hunt!

Wrecking Crew vs. Ferrets:  Typically the worst 2 weeks in the Ferrets season, but this year should be different.  Look for the Ferrets to sweep and keep at least a 2 game lead over the Animals or Chislers.

Roulette vs. Cocktails:  Oh man!  The battle for Mother Russia.  Should be a good series.  Roulette are a game behind and will need these two games.

Juggernauts vs. Krauts:  Krauts should roll over this series and continue to take advantage of the Russian battle to move into first place all alone.

Mayhem vs. Bees:  Bees will need to sweep this one to catch the Mayhem who are 5-1 and 2 games up.  Will Bees finally bench Manning (28 pts) for Winston (35 pts)?

Dragons vs. Titans:  The traditional brother battle.  Little to play for, except if the Dragons can move to 4-4 and get in the playoff mix!

Mafia vs. Crush:  Crush are only 1 behind the Mafia. Sweep puts the Crush by 1.  Mafia might get Roethlisberger back.

Bums vs. Sinistars:  Bums lead division.  Sinistars are only 2 games back and with a sweep could be 4-4 and yet they are ready to throw in the towel and trade players for draft picks.

Week 4 in the CFFL

Mrs. Tannehill
Blow outs galore....

Titans 31. Mafia 11 - Titans get a surprise victory over the Mafia. Tannehill tossed in 2 scores and Justin "Mother" Tucker kicked in 11.  Only Crosby and the Lion Defense scored for the Mafia... who's getting whacked?

Dragons 31 Sinister 8 - Cairo "Todd" Santos, for the Dragons, made it into the record books with 21 points for a kicker.  That tied 2nd place all time with Gary Anderson, Chris Boniol  and Jeff Wilkins.

Ferrets 30 Roulette 16 - The Ferrets managed to muster up some old fashion Chisler luck playing against Ryan and Julio Jones, the deadliest 10 point connection.  Ryan and Jones combined for only 4 points.

Krauts 37  Wrecking Crew 15 - The Crew couldn't survive Jeremy Hill's 20 points or the fact they had 35 points on the Bench. Or the fact that Rodgers only had 4 points!!  McManus for the Krauts also hit double digits with 11.
Hill tallied 20 big points!

Juggernauts 32 Animals 6 - Juggernauts finally get a win with all those draft picks.  16 points came from kicker Catanzaro "CantStandYa".  Both teams combined for 58 points on the bench.  30 for Animals and Juggs QB Bradford had 12 points on the bench.

Cocktails 54 Chislers 24 - Two weeks in a row Cocktail RB Freeman scored 3 TDs!  Benching Luck for Cousins proved worthy as Cousins scored 10 points.  Rivers finally played like expected with 12 points.
6 TDs in 2 weeks!!

Bums 26 Bees 18 - Bums win despite Starting Teddy "Two Gloves" Bridgewater and Prater  (combined 8 points) vs. Foles and Gould (22 points).  This was the Bees first loss of the season but still are in first in the Sad Sack South, tied with the Mayhem.

Crush 22 Mayhem 13 - Crush hold on vs the Mayhem handing them their first loss of the season as well.  Eli "Mouth Breather" Manning lead all players with 12 points.

Once a mouth breather always a mouth breather
After 4 weeks here is how the division are stacking up:

North:  Are the Ferrets running away with it?  With the Crew and Chislers a former shell of their championship selves and the Animals devastated by injury to Romo, the door is wide open for the Ferrets.  With Brady, Lacy, and Megatron they should keep rolling along.  They have a 2 game lead with all other teams sitting at 1-3.

South:  Bees and Mayhem couldn't capitalize on each other losing and still remain tied for first at 3-1 as the Titans and Dragons got wins to move to 2 games back.  When will the Bees start Winston over Manning?  Winston currently has outscored Manning 30-24...wait what?  If Dragons can get healthy (Adams and Lynch) they may be able to make a move.

East:  Truly toughest division in the CFFL.  Roulette, Cocktails and Krauts are all 3-1 and rank 1-3 in total points scored.  Cocktails have a hell of stable of backs (Peterson, Blount, Freeman).  Roulette have Ryan and Julio Jones not to mention Jamaal Charles.  Krauts have Rodgers and Jeremy Hill.  hard to argue those aren't the top 3 teams in the CFFL right now.

West:  Bums lead the west by one game over Mafia and Crush and just 2 games over Sinistars .  None of these teams have any real stand out players.  Bums likely the best team with Cobb and Gronkowski...and the chinless one Foles .

Key Match ups next week:

Ferrets at Cocktails - Battle between 2 division leaders.  Ferrets travel all the way to the Mother Land to face the Cocktails that have a lot of fire power. This will be a good test to see how far along these teams are.

Mayhem at Bums - another match up between division leaders.  Fitzgerald and Joseph Randle for the Mayhem vs. Cobb and Gronkowski for the Bums.
