CFFL Week 6

Week 6 action in the CFFL:

Game of the Week: Dragons 20 Crush 17
Beckham wins it for Dragons
While this wasn't the most high scoring exciting game, it certainly had an interesting ending.  The Dragons held only a 2 point lead 14-12 going into the Monday Night Game and it looked bleak for the Dragons as the Crush had Eli "Mouth Breather " Manning and the Giant Kicker Josh Brown "Eye".  The Ace in the hole was Dragons' Beckham, but any TD pass to anybody but Beckham would be curtains for the Dragons. The impossible happened!  Giants scored on their first drive of the game as Manning hit Beckham for the TD to make the score 20-17.  However surely the Giants would score again...a Field Goal?  Manning TD to someone else... right??  They would not and the Dragons pulled off the upset win!  This unfortunately was only the 2nd win for the Dragons and the Crush are only 1 game behind the Mafia and Bums in the West.

Bums 36  Titans 34
Another thriller at the end the Bums won with a TD pass on Sunday Night to Gronkowski to win the game despite the Titans early 12 points from Ingram on Thursday Night.  Gould had 14 for the Bums to help the effort.

Mafia 37  Bees 20

Colin Bin Laden
Mafia whacked the Bees getting 8 points each from Kaeperick, who went from Bizlat to Bin Laden look, and Forte.

Mayhem 39 Sinister 25
The Mayhem won their 5th game to go 5-1 and pull to a 2 game lead in the South.  Stafford led the team with 16 points!  The Sinistars are now 2-4 and have pulled the plug on the season offering up players for draft picks...

Ferrets 34 Juggernauts 23
The Ferrets survived the potential of a 10 point jam between Bradford and Matthews on Monday.  Getting 12 from Brady on Sunday night helped.  The Juggs are now 1-5 after trading a bunch of players away last year for a ton of draft picks.  Will they try it again?

Cocktails 30 Wrecking Crew 27
The Crew just couldn't hang on with the Cocktails and Luck threw 3 TD passes to win the game.  If only a few of those went to Fleener it might have been different.  Devonta Freeman continues to be a fantasy stud and already has 10 TDs on the season.  Rumors have it the Cocktails are working on several trades to make a big run a the Fantasy Bowl in only their 2nd season.
Freeman has 10 TDs on the year already!

Animals 41 Roulette 29
Ivory and Fitzpatrick of the Animals
A bright spot in an otherwise dismal season for the Animals as they racked up 41 points over the Roulette who's 10 point connection of Ryan and Julio Jones has gone cold lately.  Animals MVPs of the game were Fitzpatrick with 14 points and Hopkins who had 12.

Krauts 46 Chislers 28
The Chislers couldn't survive the blitzkrieg of the Krauts as kicker McManus kicked in 14 while Rodgers threw for 2 TDs and Jones flipped into the end zone for another.  The Chislers still haven't had a single point from any of their RBs, both starting or on the bench.

Player of the Week: Matthew Stafford, QB, Mayhem
Stafford threw for 4 TDs in the Mayhem's victory over the Sinistars.

Next week is the beginning of the dreaded home and home series.  Lets take a look at the implications of this freaking thing...

Chislers vs. Animals: Playing for pride mostly.  Both teams only have 2 wins.  However if one sweeps and moves to 4-4 they are right back into the playoff hunt!

Wrecking Crew vs. Ferrets:  Typically the worst 2 weeks in the Ferrets season, but this year should be different.  Look for the Ferrets to sweep and keep at least a 2 game lead over the Animals or Chislers.

Roulette vs. Cocktails:  Oh man!  The battle for Mother Russia.  Should be a good series.  Roulette are a game behind and will need these two games.

Juggernauts vs. Krauts:  Krauts should roll over this series and continue to take advantage of the Russian battle to move into first place all alone.

Mayhem vs. Bees:  Bees will need to sweep this one to catch the Mayhem who are 5-1 and 2 games up.  Will Bees finally bench Manning (28 pts) for Winston (35 pts)?

Dragons vs. Titans:  The traditional brother battle.  Little to play for, except if the Dragons can move to 4-4 and get in the playoff mix!

Mafia vs. Crush:  Crush are only 1 behind the Mafia. Sweep puts the Crush by 1.  Mafia might get Roethlisberger back.

Bums vs. Sinistars:  Bums lead division.  Sinistars are only 2 games back and with a sweep could be 4-4 and yet they are ready to throw in the towel and trade players for draft picks.

  1. Trades have been made! I love this league and not having to worry about bonus points and yards for a change. Marshall and Dez are coming to the Cocktails with open arms. It's hard to win a title and you have to take any shots that you have... good luck to all and don't mess with the motherland!

  2. Correction. Sinistars are not throwing in the towel. They have more start worthy running backs than they can possibly play so they are looking to make trades for receivers or draft picks.
