CFHL Week 9

Crew ice girls collecting hats
from Perry's hat trick Wednesday!
Goon Crew vs. Mayhem on Ice 4-1-1
After splitting the week with the USSR last week 3-3 the Goon Crew came into this week trying to keep pace with the surging Who Gives a Puck.  The Mayhem were coming off a close loss to the Checkers 3-2-1 last week.  The Mayhem nearly got shut out if it wasn't for a late assist by Datsyuk to take assists 16-15.  Corey Perry was the Number One Star of the game tallying 4 goals, an assist, and a +6.  Ovechkin did all he could to help the Mayhem by scoring 4 goals as well.  Crew managed to win goalie categories even with just one goalie most of the week as Carey Price was injured earlier in the week.

Krampus Carols vs. Assassins 4-2
After getting thumped the week before by Who Gives a Puck 5-1 last week, the Krampus Carols played much better this week defeating the Assassins who were coming off a 4-2 victory over AshBusters.  Amazingly the Krampus Carol won scoring only 3 goals all week.  Assassins had two players with 4 goals, Perron and Zetterberg.  Krampus won the assist battle, thanks to 4 from Tavares and the goalie categories now that they are starting 2 goalies, including Niemi who had 2 wins and .909 SV%
Tavares had 4 assists

Checkers vs. AshBusters 3-3
The AshBusters move into first place of the Smythe Division after splitting the week with the Checkers and watching the USSR lose big to Who Gives a Puck 5-1.  The Checkers made a comeback to tie the game by winning Goals and PIM on Sunday.  Checkers were down 9-8 in goals and managed to out score the AshBusters 3-1 in goals, getting 2 from Nash Sunday afternoon.  PIM were tied at 19 and the Checkers got 8 PIM on Sunday including 6 from Byfuglien, which is no surprise from that fat goon.  Crosby had 3 goals and 4 assists for the AshBusters.
Rick Nash tallied 2 goals Sunday!

Who Gives a Puck vs. USSR 5-1
Who Gives a Puck fans supporting

The Who Gives a Puck continues to roll and now has a 7 point lead in the Norris Division.  They dominated in almost every category winning goals 16-8, +/- by +11, PIM 27-6, Goalie Wins 3-1 and SV% .936 vs .910.  Tatar was the Number One Star as he scored 5 goals, 2 assists and a +5.  Not to be out done, Stamkos had 4 goals and Steen had 3.  Lundqvist had 2 wins and .941 SV%.  They seemed to be hitting on on cylinders now. The USSR now trails the AshBusters by 2 points in the Smythe and will look to rebound this week against the Mayhem.

CFHL Week 7 Update

Well there was a shake up in the standings since we last updated as the top team in the league got their ass handed to them...

AshBusters vs. Goon Crew 4-1-1
After dispensing the Krampus Carols the week before and sitting comfortably a top of the Norris Division, the Goon Crew ran into a hungry AshBuster team that hadn't won a week all season yet.  It was a battle as the Goon Crew came up one goal short and both teams tied with an impressive 5 goalie wins, which would have beaten every other team besides the Mayhem this week.  Plus it doesn't hurt to get 13 assists in one night.  Friday night the AshBusters racked up 13 assists, including 4 from Crosby.
Goal Scorer of the game: Pavelski, AshBusters: 3 goals
Assist leader: Crosby, AshBusters: 5
Goon of the Game: Vatanen, AshBusters: 6 PIM

Who Gives a Puck vs. Assassins 3-1-2
Steen on his 3 assist night
The Goon Crew loss was the opportunity the Puck needed to overtake them in the Norris and they took full opportunity to do so and now lead the Goon Crew by 2 points in the Norris division after they defeated the Assassins.  It was a come from behind victory by the Puck  as they were behind in goals going into Sunday and manged 3 goals on Sunday to the Assassins 1 and beat them by one goal.
Assist Leader: Steen, Puck: 5
+/- Loser: Streit, Puck:  -5
Netminder of Game: Lundqvist, Puck: 2 wins, .917 SV%

The Krampus Carols, with the Christmas season behind them, were finally able to focus on hockey and came away with one of their best weeks this season tallying 13 goals, 21 assists, +8 and 16 PIM! They even split the goalie categories with starting only one goalie.  It was like the Olympics all over again with T.J. Oshie (Krampus) vs. Ovechkin (Mayhem), as the two skaters combined for 8 goals, 5 assists and a +8.  Krampus Carols are still in last place but have closed the gap and may be heading in the right direction finally.

USSR vs. Checkers 4-0-2
The three time defending champs Checkers were nearly shut out completely, but did manage to tie in PIM and Goalie Wins.  (20 and 2).  The Checkers are now 10 points out of first place in the Norris Division.  The USSR on the other hand are tied for first in the Smythe with the AshBusters and only 2 points behind top spot in the CFHL.
