CFFL35 Week 3

After three weeks there remains only 3 undefeated teams; Dragons, Sinistars and Cocktails.  Will they all remain undefeated or will they fall from the unbeaten ranks.  Dragons play the 2-1 Animals.  Cocktails are on the road against the 2-1 Bums and the Sinistars take on the 1-2 Juggs.  Some tough games.

There was lots of high scoring teams this week.  3 teams posted over 50 points, 4 teams over 40 points and 4 over 30.  But nothing like being one of the teams that scored over 40 points and loses...

Cocktails 45  Crush 42 - One of the shoot outs of the day had the Cocktails and Crush trading punches all Sunday long.  Of course the Cocktails were led by their once again Chief attack getting 30 points from their Chief players.  Mahomes and McCoy had 12 each and Robinson had 6.  Crush were not going to just roll over as they countered later in the day with 3 big TDs from Mike Evans.  But while Evans was scoring TDs, kicker Matt GAY! booted in 13 points during that game as well and gave the Cocktails the 45-42 win.
McCoy scored twice for Cocktails

Chislers 52  Mayhem 42 - Another team to put up over 40 and lose was the Mayhem, who likely wasn't very confident, even with a 42-24 lead going into Sunday night.  He be right!  It would be slow going for the Chislers/Rams Sunday night, but things heated up in the second half when Goff hit Kupp for an 11 point connection.  Suddenly it was 42-38.  Could the Mayhem hang on??  Nope.  Goff would hit Kupp again for another 11 point connection to seal the victory 49-42.  They would tack on a meaningless Greg "The Leg" Zuerlein FG to make the final 52-42.
Goff and Kupp connected twice for Chislers

Ingram wouldn't stop scoring
Around the league...Dragons remain undefeated besting the Crew 35-25 thanks to Ingram's 3 TDs.  The Crew, despite their M squared backfield of Mack and McCaffery who both scored, couldn't find production elsewhere...

Animals rolled the Bees 51-29 led by 12 points from three players; Matt "Shark Eyes" Ryan, Jeffery "CPA" Wilson, and the Saints Defense!  Bees wasted a 14 point performance by Dak Prescott...

Titans ran away with the game against the Ferrets 53-34.  It was the Cooper Hooper show as Amari Cooper and Austin Hooper both scored 12 points.  It was another bad beat for the Ferrets scoring 34 in the loss...
Austin Hooper was once a stuntman

The Killers are starting to look pretty bleak after only 3 games already.  Roulette had no trouble beating them 41-13 behind a running attack of Aaron "Not Rodgers" Jones and David Johnson who combined for 18 points.  Killers only got points from their kicker and Lockett...

Adam Thielen's wife Caitlin..
Bums got back on track with a 34-28 victory over the Juggs.  They got productions from their best 2 players like you would expect.  Protected player Alvin Kamara scored 12 and number one draft pick Adam Thielen scored 12...

Sinsitars also remain undefeated with their victory over the Krauts 38-25 who needed a big game out of their Bears?...so un-Kraut like.  Russell Wilson almost won this game with his 20 points single handed.  The Kraut team just has too many Bears and Bengals to win many games this year.  (3 Bears and 2 Bengals in the starting line up).

Player of the game:  Russell Wilson, QB, Sinistars - 20 points.

CFFL35 Week 2

Week 2 is in the books.  The divisional games to open the season is over.  Who has taken full advantage and who is already in trouble?

Game of the Week:  Animals 32  Chislers 31
Chislers took the early lead as their Rams connections did much better than last week, well or as it seemed.  Goff did score 10 points but nothing from Brown, Kupp or Woods.  It looked like the Chislers got a 10 point connection to Kupp.  TD on the field.  But after futher review Kupp was down at the one inch line.  It was 31-8 going into Sunday night.  Matt Ryan would hit Ridley for a 10 point connection and throw 2 more TD passes making the game 31-26.  Could the Chislers survive Monday night as the Animals had Nick Chubb taking the field.  Chubb would take the hand off at the 19, break a few tackles and dive into the endzone for the Animals win!  The loss puts the defending champs 0-2.  But I do believe there was a similar year they started out bad and then ripped off a huge winning streak to make it to the playoffs...
Chubb dives in for the game winning TD!

In the other game in the North, the Crew were able to hang on and beat the Ferrets 31-24 after a slow start on Thursday, when their best player McCaffrey posted a goose egg.  Jimmy G hooked up with Deebo "Sweeny" Samuel for a 10 point connection on his way to 12 points.

In the South...Separation has already begun as the Killer Bees and Dragons have both moved to 2-0 and Mayhem and Titans fall to 0-2.  Killer Bees took down the Mayhem 34-25 led by 12 points from Dak Prescott, including a 10 point connection  to "Old Man" Witten...The battle of the brothers between Dragons and Titans turned ugly as Big Ben went out with an injury not to return (and is out for the season).  The Dragons did get 12 points from Julio Jones, who is tired of hearing how he doesn't score TDs. (He has 3 TDs in 2 weeks)
Jones running for his 3rd TD of the year in 2 weeks

In the East... The Cocktails have quickly exerted themselves as the team to beat in the Eastern Bloc winning the first battle of Russia.  They seem to have the finger on the pulse of the Chiefs.  With Mahomes at the helm, they put in Demarcus "Will" Robinson and promptly got 2 10 point connections on their way to a 42-33 victory over the Roulette.  If the Roulette could have got any production from their QB Cam "Sad Cam" Newton, they might have had a chance, since every player besides their D scored...The Juggs couldn't survive the Krauts Patriot defense.  After getting shut out last week, the Krauts came out angry and got 18 points from their defense and never looked back.  It was a total Blitzkrieg.
Mahomes hasn't slowed down yet

In the West...We almost had another team shut out.  The Killers managed to only score 4 points in their game against the Crush losing not only the game but their star QB Drew Brees with a torn ligament in his thumb.  Tom Brady tallied 14 points for the Crush and Justin "Mother" Tucker kicked in 11...After an emotional start to the season, the Bums came out flat in week two falling to the Sinistars 47-10.  The Sinistar running attack produced 12 points between Conner and Gurley and Russell Wilson added 12 points.  The win puts the Sinistars a top of the west at 2-0.
Tom Brady looking real good too

Player of the Week:  Patriots Defense, Krauts - 18 points
Pats Defense scores 3 times!

See you all next week!!

CFFL35 Week 1

The draft is over.  The long off season is over.  The brutal preseason is over.  Its time to kick off the 35th year of the Cherry Fantasy Football League!!

McCaffrey scoring one of his 2 TDs Sunday
Wrecking Crew 35  Chislers 28 - GREEN BAY, WI -- The six time defending champion Chislers kicked off their season against their long time rival the Crew.  The Crew was able to escape the typically deadly Ram attack of the Chislers (Goff, Kupp, Woods and Zuerlein) who all scored just 16 points.  Crew's running attack, which was expected to be their strength, didn't disappoint scoring 18 points between Mack and McCaffrey.

Ferrets 44  Animals 36 - ANN ARBOR, MI -- The Animals traveled to the Ferret Den only to find the Ferrets had a lot of biting and scratching in them.  However that is typical for the Ferrets in the first week.  They got points out of all their skill players except Gallup with TY Hilton leading the way with 12 points.  The Animals got to within 2 points when Hopkins caught his second TD of the night, but the Ferrets would put it away when Sanders caught a late TD pass.

Dragons 54  Mayhem 45 - MIAMI, FL -- This game turned into a real shoot out in the South.  The Dragons getting 12 points from Rivers, Ingram, Jeffery, and Lutz and the Mayhem getting 15 from Gostkowski, 12 from Henry and then 18 huge points from Watson as they stormed back into the game.  But the 12 points Dragons got from Lutz would prove bigger.
Rivers celebrates the Dragon victory

Killer Bees 26  Toledo Titans 21 - TOLEDO, OH -- What was suppose to be a QB duel between Rodgers and Roethlisberger, turned out to be a kicker battle between Butker and Prater.  But the reality was that wasn't even a battle as Butker outscored Prater 16-9.

Juggernauts 18  Roulette 11 - ROME, ITALY -- The ho-hum game of the week.  With David Johnson and Saquon Barkley on the field, fireworks and lots of scoring was expected.  Instead a lot of zeros were on the scoring sheets.  Carson Wentz, however, came to play and threw for 3 TD passes.  It would have been much worse for the Roulette had the Juggs started their 10 point connection of Wentz and Jackson.  Jackson caught 2 of the three Wentz TD passes.

Rookie Jacobs front runner for All Nickname Team
Cocktails 47  Krauts 0 - BERLIN, GERMANY -- The Cocktails came into Berlin and completely embarrassed the Krauts in front of their home crowd.  The Cocktails rolled out an impressive running attack with Chris "Johnny" Carson (12 points) and Josh Jacobs "Jingleheimer Schmidt" (12 points) to go along with last years MVP Mahomes' 12 points.  The Krauts even started a kicker that wasn't going to play.  There will be a lot to answer to in Berlin this week.

Bums  40  Killers 31 - SAN DIEGO, CA --  The Bums had an emotional home opener dedicating the entire season to owner Burt Carlson, who passed away before the beginning of the season.  They came out fired up getting 18 points from Watkins, 6 from Thielen and 6 from Westbrook all in the first half.  It seemed like every TD that was scored early Sunday was a Bum.  The Killers would attempt a comeback with Brees 2 TD passes but ultimately would come up short.
Watkins was a man on mission Sunday scoring 3 times

Sinistars 25  Crush 15 - SEATTLE, WA -- The Sinistars, in their home opener, would have little trouble with the Crush thanks to 8 points from Wilson and 11 points from kicker Robbie Gould.  But more in large part due to the line up decisions of the Crush.  First of all how do you bench Brady and Dorsett in favor of Jameis Winston and Anthony Miller (who??) Brady and Dorsett would combine for 24 points. Oh, and Ekeler with 18 points sat the bench too.  In total, the Crush left 56 points on the bench.  Ouch...

Player of the Week:   Deshaun Watson, QB, Mayhem -18 points  and Sammy Watkins, WR, Bums - 18 points

See you next week!
