CFFL Week 12 2022

Two weeks to go!  Back in the division for the final two games.  North and South divisions decided.  East and West still up for grabs.  Time to make that final playoff push!

Week 12 action...

Wrecking Crew 42  Cocktails 26 - The Crew got Murray back and it was like old times.  He scored 14 points including two 10 point connections.  One to Hopkins and a sideways one to Conner!  The win pretty much squashes the Cocktails hope for a playoff run.

Murray and Hopkins connected for 10

Crush 27  Dragons 22 - The Crush clinched a playoff spot with the win against the Dragons.  Geno Smith, surprisingly got the start and scored 8 points for the Crush.  Dragons still had a chance going late into the game with Parris Campbell on Monday night, but Crush had players too. Neither one of them would score, giving the Crush the victory.

Geno tosses 8 points for the Crush win

Iron Legion 38  Titans 15 - With the South wrapped up, the Titans didn't have anything to play for.  The Legion took full advantage, winning easily behind 13 points from Justin Herbert and 12 from Dalton Schultz.  Legion have won 4 in a row and have the league's 2nd best offense.  Might they slip into the playoffs and make a run?

Herbert had 13 big points in the Legion win

Warbirds 36  Whales 32 - Last week the Whales mad an epic comeback with 3 10 point connections.  This week they would be on the other end of an epic comeback by the Warbirds.  Down 32-12 it was going to take a huge effort by the Warbirds to win this one. They didn't disappoint, getting 8 from Hurts, 6 from Aaron Jones, and then 10 from Elliott, with his 54 yard FG the game winner!
Hurts points to a victory for Warbirds

Killers 25  Bees 22 - Killers would get 2 Miles Sanders TDs to come from behind and take a 25-20 lead.  Bees still had Pickens left on MNF.  He was awesome Monday night, but only could muster up 2 points.  The win keeps the Killers playoff hopes alive.
Sanders scores twice to help Killers to victory!

Ferrets 30  Juggernauts 17 - The Ferrets punched their ticket to the playoffs holding off the Juggs with a balanced attack.  They got 6 points from Taylor, Allen and Lockett.
Taylor has been a consistent threat for the Ferrets

Krauts 43  Chislers 26 - The Krauts hit the Chislers hard with their Blitzkrieg attack on Thanksgiving!  They took an early 26-0 lead Thursday behind 14 points from Josh Allen.  The lead proved to be too much for the Chislers and the Krauts added more points from kicker Greg "Roy" Joseph and  the Viking D.
Could Allen carry the Krauts to the Fantasy Bowl?

Sinistars 30  Animals 28 - Sinistars hung on to upset the Animals and are actually in the hunt for a playoff spot.  Trevor "Sunshine" Lawrence finally showed up and threw for 13 points.  Animals still in the hunt but dropped their second in a row and playoff hopes could be slipping away.
Lawrence excited they still have a shot at playoffs!

Player of the Week:  Kyler Murray, QB, Crew - 14 points, Josh Allen, QB, Krauts - 14 points.

CFFL Week 11 Update 2022

Well sadly we are getting down to the end of the regular season.  With only 3 weeks left the final push for the playoffs have begun.  Sorry there was no update last week as I was out in Florida.  Let's take a look at what happened in last week's action...

Wrecking Crew 24 Sinistars 5 - The Crew's luck continues as they won their second straight with no starting QB.  Murray was out past two weeks.  Last week Crew ownership didn't have a clue and this week they took a chance on the possibility of him starting but when announced Monday morning it was too late.  Aiyuk was big in the win scoring 2 TDs for the Crew.  Sinistars have checked out.  (Last week Crew won a nail bitter against the Krauts winning on a late Jacobs TD run)

Aiyuk scored twice in the Crew win

Titans 42  Crush 7 - Titans have clinched the South and caught the Crush team on a bad week.  With Chase out, Jefferson and Lamb couldn't score and neither did QB Cousins.  The Titans on the other hand got points from all over the place including 12 each from Adams and Pollard.  (Last week Crush was on the winnnig side vs Warbirds and Titans beat the Killers easily)

Adams scoring one of his 2 against the Crush

Iron Legion 28  Warbirds 27 - Warbirds just can't catch a break.  With 10 points from Hurts and 12 from Harris, they looked pretty good going into MNF.  That was until George "K.I.TT Boy L.E." Kittle would score 2 long TDs to give the Legion the come from behind victory!

Kittle scores the game winner for the Legion!

Whales 48 Bees 42 - In another thriller the Bees pretty much had the Whales dead to rights leading 42-18 late.  With Butker on the bench for some reason, the Whales would need to somehow score 24 points from  Mahomes and Kelce.  Would 3 10 point connections do it?  Well yes it would and yes it happened.  Mahomes would hit Kelce for 3 TDs in the dramatic victory against the Bees.

These two are a key to a Whales championship run

Dragons 27  Killers 3 - Dragons, out of the playoff race, played spoiler beating the hapless Killers who could could only manage to score 3 points with his Buccaneers on bye.  However owner of the Killers said they aren't much better when Brady plays anyway.  Not sure about that.  Danny Dimes had 10 points for the Dragons in the win.

Danny Dimes did just enough to get the win

Krauts 13  Animals 8 - In a very low scoring affair the Krauts were able to outlast the Animals behind a Chris Olave TD catch.  Both are still in the hunt for the playoffs.

Olave scored the games only TD

Juggernauts 33  Chislers 29 - Chislers got 16 points from Burrow but then only other player to score was their kicker McPherson.  Juggs however had a balanced attack getting points from all but 3 of their starters, inlcuding 6 points from their Washington defense

Burrow did all he could to try to get the win

Ferrets 51 Cocktails 38 - What is up with the Ferrets?  Break them up!  It has been years since they have been this happy this late in the year.  After a 1-3 start they have gone 6-1 and are in the thick of the playoff race.  This week they dropped a 50-burger on the Cocktails.  It helps when you get 19 points from your kicker Tyler Bass.  Thank you snow storm and moving the game indoors.  Cocktails got a wasted performance from Jamal Williams in the loss as he scored 3 times!

Player of the Week:  Tyler Bass, K, Ferrets - 19 points

Playoff Picture:

Division Leaders                              Wildcard
x-1. Wrecking Crew (10-1)             5. Crush (7-4) 321pts
y-2. Titans (8-3)                               6. Ferrets (7-4) 308 pts
3. Whales (7-4) 365pts                     7. Chislers (6-5)
4. Juggernauts (7-4) 339 pts             8. Animals (5-6) 326 pts

In the Hunt

News Flash Rumor......There are reports from Wening's Wimps LLC, the ownership group for the Fez's Ferrets that they may be moving the franchise north of the boarder and renaming the franchise to the Wening's Blue Bombers, pending a 2-1 vote of the founding CFFL Fathers.  Citizens of Winnipeg were very excited...

CFFL Week 9 2022

The trade deadline is this week but you would have thought last week was considering all the trades that happened.  Here is a quick rundown on the trades...

  • Sinistars trade:
    • Murray and Hopkins to Crew
    • Kelce to Whales
    • Walker to the Chislers
  • Crew get Ekeler from the Iron Legion
  • Cocktails get Tua from Warbirds
What will happen this week???

Week 9 action:

Wrecking Crew 38  Juggernauts 17 - One of the big games of the week was a show down of the 2 top teams in the league.  Jugges #1 offense vs. Crew #2 defense.  Crew needed to make some changes to its pathetic offense.  They traded for Murray, Hopkins and Ekeler.  They combined for 26 of the Crew's 38 points moving the Crew to 8-1, 2 games ahead of the Chislers in the North.

Crush 35  Bees 8 - Crush had no problem beating a Bees team that was in bye week hell.  They had so many players on bye they couldn't submit a full lineup.  Travis Etienne led the way for the West Division leading Crush with 12 points.
Etienne scored twice for the Crush

Killers 20  Warbirds 19 - Killers, back from honeymoon festivities, were able to edge the Warbirds by one point.  Miles Sanders scored a TD for the Killers.  Warbirds 19 points all came from their Eagles players (Hurts, Goedert and kicker Elliott).
Miles Sanders celebrates his TD for Killers

Iron Legion 27  Dragons 21 - Legion traded their best player away (Ekeler) and then finally got a win!  Dragons playoff hopes fading away.

Titans 38  Whales 30 (OT) - What a battle to the end!   Davonte Adams finally got in the edzone for the Titans, not once but twice!  Whales would come back late on Sunday night getting 12 from Mahomes and 6 from Kicker Butker.  Unfortunately they couldn't get newly acquired Travis Kelce in the endzone for the 10 point connection.  With the game tied at 30 after regulation, the Whales had no back ups with points.  The Titans however called upon Baker Mayfield to come off the bench and throw 2 TD passes in OT for the win!
Mayfield comes off bench to win it in OT

SIDENOTE:  This was the second time a game in the CFFL was determined in OT by a player that originally not even starting the game in the NFL but would come off the bench in the game and score.  Killers got an OT win when "Bitch" Trubisky came off the bench for the Steelers and scored.

Chislers 40  Sinistars 18 - Chislers really had no problem defeating a depleted and picked over Sinistars team.  Former Sinistars RB Kenneth Walker III would score twice against his former team.  Burrow would add 10 more and Cupp continues to score just about every week for the Chislers.
Walker III the new Chisler stud RB

Animals 62  Cocktails 27 - Wow!  What an offensive explosion dropping a 60-burger on the Cocktails!  Joe Mixon tied the CFFL record for TDs in a game with 5!  Kicker Nick "The Dick" Folk added 14 points!  Even little known WR Isaiah "Not bloody" Likely scored.
Mixon had a record tying day!

CFFL HISTORY:  Joe Mixon's 5 TD performance tied the record for the most TDs in a regular season game in CFFL history.  This tied Clinton Portis "The Tortoise" who had 5 TDs for the Bees against Krauts in 2003, Shaun Alexander for the Crew against the Mayhem in 2002, and Jamal Charles "In Charge" for the Bums against the Chislers in 2013.  This also tied Jerry Rice's 5 TD performance in 1990 for the Bums against the Whammers.  (In case anyone reads this and does some research and discovers Kamara had 6 TDs, he did it on Christmas Day in 2020 but this was during the playoffs and he was on the Iron Legion team that did not make the playoffs)

Ferrets 27 Krauts 15 - The Ferrets pull off the big upset beating the Krauts and their Blitzkrieg Bills.  Kraut QB Josh Allen did run for 2 TDs but no other Bill for the Krauts scored.  King Henry was back scoring 12 and sub QB Heinicke "Heineken" threw for 2 scores for the Ferrets.

Player of the Week:  Joe Mixon, RB, Animals - 30 points

Division Outlooks:

South - Titans move to 6-3 and now have a 3 game lead.  Rest of the division certainly are on the outside looking in.

North - Crew maintain its 2 game lead over Chislers.  Ferrets a surprising  5-4 and in the thick of the wild card race.  Animals are not out of it either, specially with that offense.

East - Juggernauts, despite their loss, hold a 2 game lead.  Sinistars and Krauts not out of it my any means.  Cocktails at 3-6 could be running out of time.

West - Still anybody's division except the Legion.  Crush lead by 1 game over the Whales and Killers.

Division Leaders                                Wild Card
1. Wrecking Crew 8-1                        5. Chislers 6-3
2. Juggernauts 6-3                              6. Whales 5-4
3. Crush 6-3                                        7. Ferrets 5-4
4. Titans 6-3                                        8. Killers 5-4

In the Hunt
Animals 4-5
Krauts 4-5
Several teams at 3-6 still not out of it completely.

CFFL Week 8 2022

The dust has settled and the home and home series are done.  Who survived?  Who did not?

The North split their series between the Crew/Animals and Ferrets/Chislers so no blood drawn in the race to be King in the North.  Crew remain 2 games up on the Chislers.

Blood in the South at Kings Landing...Titans swept the Warbirds/WarEagles to take a commanding 2 game lead while the Bees and Dragons split.

The Juggs are sending thank you notes to the Sinistars who swept the Krauts giving the Juggs a 2 game lead across the Narrow Sea in the East.

Lots of blood drawn in Westeros as Whales swept the Killers knocking them down to 3rd place and the Crush swept the Legion and now tied for first with the Whales.

Here is the action from last week:

Animals 47  Wrecking Crew 15 - This game was over early at 27-15 with the Crew team flat again.  The Animals poured it on late getting 14 points from Chubb "Chubb, Chubb, Chubb" and a TD from "Mrs. Sue" Higgins.  The Crew lack of fire power finally caught up with them.
Chubb Chubb Chubb Chubb!!!

Ferrets 35  Chislers 33 - Ferrets hold on for the win getting a much needed big lead after kicker Tyler "Kick his ass sea" Bass booted in 9 points and a 2 TD performance from Henry.  Chislers did mount a big comeback with Burrow and Boyd connecting on a 10 point connection but they would eventually run out of a time on Halloween Night.

King Henry gets 2 scores and the win!

Killer Bees 26  Dragons 25
- The Dragons lose a heartbreaker that saw Dragon RB Kamara score 3 times!  They had the lead 25-20 going late into Halloween night.  The trick or treaters returned with their bags of candy, gum, and goodies.  Seemed like it was a treat for the Dragons to sweep the Bees.  But instead they got a trick in the form of Amari Cooper catching a late TD pass to give the Bees the win!
Cooper scores the game winner!

Juggernauts 54  Cocktails 37 - The Juggs were all over the Cocktails getting 16 points from McCaffrey and 18 from A.J. Brown as the dropped a 50-burger on them!  "Jama." Williams did have 2 scores for the Cocktails in the loss.
McCaffrey with the hat trick of scores

Sinistars 30  Krauts 18 - Even with the Krauts having their Blitzkrieg Bills back they couldn't manage more than 18 points.  Murray connected with Hopkins for their first 10 point connection of the year.  Rumor has it, Sinistars looking to move off of Murray and Hopkins and a trade may be in the works.
Incredible catch by Hopkins

Crush 35  Legion 25 - Crush dominate despite getting only 6 points from their star trio of receivers.  Kirk Cousins' 14 points was huge and needed.  Legion drop to 1-7 and the season is looking bleak.
Cousins dives in for a Crush TD!

Whales 29  Killers 26 - The Killers couldn't take advantage of the Chiefs and Whale QB Mahomes on a bye.  They had the lead 26-23 with time running out, but Whale WR Isaiah McKenzie would score the game winner on a 7 yard TD run!
McKenzie runs in for the game winning score!

Player of the Week:  A.J. Brown, WR, Juggs - 18 points

Big games next week:

Wrecking Crew (7-1) at Juggernauts (6-2) - Leagues top offense (Juggs) with 275 points vs the leagues stingiest defense (Crew) allowing only 175 points.  Something has got to give...

Titans (5-3) at Whales (5-3) - Both teams lead their divisions.  Whales riding a 3 game winning streak and the Titans have won their last two in a row.
