CFFL Week 11

We are certainly down the home stretch!  Only three weeks to go and technically 13 teams still alive!

So let's take a quick look at the divisional races here in the CFFL:

In the North it appears to be the Chislers to lose.  While they are tied with the Crew at 9-2, they split the head to head and have identical divisional records of 3-1, the Chislers have a large lead in PF: 515 vs. 450.  Crew will need to sweep the last two divisional games and hope for a Chisler loss.

In the South, or should we say the NFC East, the Killer Bees and Dragons are tied at 5-6 for the division lead.  Bees hold the tie breaker with a 4-0 divisional record plus they won the first match up 49-22.  Dragons will need to win out and have Bees lose at least 2 games in the next 3.

In the east the defending champ Sinistars have clinched the division at 10-1.  Cocktails are 7-4 but have a 0-4 divisional record and lost to the Sinistars in their first head to head match up earlier this year 48-38.

And in the West it has been a battle between three teams all year.  The two new franchises, Whales and Iron Legion and the Killers.  Whales have moved into the driver's seat with a one game lead at 6-5.  Killers, at one game back have a 3-1 divisional record while both the Whales and the Legion are at 2-2.  Killers swept the Legion, but lost first game against the Whales.  This division could come down to Week 13 match up between the Killers and the Whales.

Oh yeah, there were some games played last week too.  Here is a look at the action that took place last week in the CFFL.

Wrecking Crew 38  Killers 20 - Father took no mercy on his son.  Clyde Edwards "Scissor Hands" Helaire finally showed he could score and punched in two TDs.  Murrary, who had been Mr. Double Digits, only had 8 points this week.  The Killers who are completely dependent on Buccaneers managed only 20 points.
CEH scoring one of his two TDs!

Cockails 40 Titans 12 - The Cocktails took the Titans out in a body bag.  Titans had line up issues and didn't have a back up Kicker playing.  Leading scorer with 14 points for the Cocktails was a kicker, Rodrigo "You sunk my" Blankenship.

"B-3".."You sunk by Blankenship!"

Mayhem 40  Juggernauts 38 - In a barn burner the Mayhem were able to hang on against the Juggs after spotting them a big lead.  "Old Man" Rivers had 12 and Adam "I have COVID, wait, no I don't" Thielen also had 12 in the win for the Mayhem.  Juggs were once the preseason favorite and even mid season with the trade for Jackson to win it all...now they are fighting for their playoff lives.
Rivers still making it happen.

Krauts 26  Killer Bees 23 - In another close one Dalton for the Bees and Cousins for the Krauts squared off.  Both scored 12 points.  But it came down to Sunday Night and the Bees just needed 9 points from their Kicker Butker.  Seems pretty reasonable right?  Nope.  Too many TDs scored in the Chiefs game and he would only have 5 points.
Cousins and Dalton after the game.

Sinistars 43 Dragons 35 - Another somewhat of a thriller between the Dragons and Sinistars saw the Sinistars with a 37-35 lead late.  This was after a 14 point performance by Dragon QB Watson.  Dragons needed to shut out Kelce Sunday night and hope Malcom Brown would score Monday night for the win.  Well the opposite happened, Kelce would score for the Sinistars making it a two score game, and Brown wouldn't sniff the endzone Monday.
Kelce's TD sealed the victory

Chislers 49 Legion 25 - In a very physical game, after a slow start, the Chislers put the pedal down getting points from every player except their defense.  Justin "Bobby" Herbert "Hair Cut" filled in nicely for Allen scoring 12 points.  Unfortunately for the Iron Legion, they lost Burrow for the year with a wicked knee injury.
WTF?

Whales 30  Animals 22 - While this had a score at the end for the win, the Whales didn't stop there so it really wasn't as thrilling as it may seem.  But going into Sunday night the Animals did have a 22-16 lead.  But Whales had Mahomes.  He would score only 2 TDs but would be enough to give them the 24-22 lead.  Robert "Ice Bucket" Woods would add on another for good measure Monday night.
Mahomes keeping Whales alive

Crush 26 Ferrets 14 - In a game between two teams going no where the Crush managed to win with zero points from their QB Matt "Shark Eyes" Ryan.  Claypool, Evans and Godwin all got in the act with a TD each.
Claypool celebrating

Player of the Week:  Deshaun Watson, QB, Dragons 14 points

CFFL Week 10

Here is a quick recap from Week 10's action.  Next week we will take a look at the playoff picture.

Cocktails 33 Mayhem 29 - Cocktails had to hang on behind 16 points from Big Ben, but late in the game Mayhem almost pulled it off scoring 19 points between Thielen and Bailey on Monday Night.

Sinistars 30 Titans 7 - Sinistars keep rolling on getting 12 points from Antonio Gibson and kicker Boswell.  Titans could only get points from their kicker.  Brutal

Bees 24 Juggernauts21 - Bees beat the Juggs thanks to 12 points from Prater.  Who would have thought that starting Stafford instead of Lamar Jackson would have been the difference for the Juggs.

Krauts 24 Dragons 17 - 14 points from Rodgers almost won this on his own.  The Dragon loss and Bees win has the South locked up at 5-5.

Killers 40 Ferrets 9 - Killers making a strong run at the West with this win joining a three way tie.  Brady had 18 and Succop had 16.  This time all eggs in the Buccaneers basket worked.  Last week not so much.

Wrecking Crew 51  Whales 11 - Crew went up early with Hines scoring twice and a blocked punt for a TD.  Murray kept the onslaught going with 16 points.

Legion 43  Animals 24 - Kamara scored 18 points for the Legion as they rolled the Animals.  They join the Whales and Killers in a three way tie at 5-5

Crush 41 Chislers 34 - Crush upset the mighty Chislers behind 12 big points from "Golem" Gallman and Claypool.

Player of the Week:  Tom Brady, QB Killers and Alvin Kamara, RB Legion both with 18 points.

CFFL Week 9

Only 5 weeks of the regular season left to play already!  Can you believe that?  Seems like we waited so long through the summer, with so many unknowns if we would even have a season, and now here we are in Week 10!

We can certainly start to see who likely is in the playoffs already and who is likely out of the playoff race.  Those likely in are Chislers (8-1), Sinistars (8-1), Wrecking Crew (7-2).  Those likely out are Ferrets (2-7), Mayhem (2-7), and Crush (2-7), Titans (3-6).  Outside of that there rest of the teams are either 5-4 or 4-5!

Here is what happened last week:

Wrecking Crew 48 Iron Legion 31 - Kyler Murray led the Crew with 18 points making it his 8 consecutive game scoring in double digits.  CMC was back and didn't disappoint scoring twice, however he did hurt his shoulder and could be out again. Legion was doomed when they had to start the Chinless Fuck Nick Foles.
CMC is back scoring twice!

Cocktails 46  Killer Bees 25 - Cocktails had little trouble with the Bees thanks to 12 points from Roethlisberger and 12 from Tyreek Hill.  Hill leads all WR/TE this year with 10 TDs already!  Cocktails still trail Sinistars by 3 games, but has eye on playoffs as their real goal.

Tyreek Hill having great season!

Sinistars 38 Mayhem 26 - Speaking of the defending champs, the Sinistars survived 16 points from Brees late to win the game.  Russell Wilson has truly been the Sinistars MVP thus far, scoring 14 points in the win.
Russ was just being Russ again.

Dragons 35  Juggernauts 28 - The Dragons win moves them to first place in the South all alone.  Watson performed well scoring 8 points.  The Juggs were a depleted team as they had so many players on bye that they couldn't field a complete team.  They drop to 4-5 and wonder if this will ultimately be the reason if they miss the playoffs...

Watson for the Dragons

Krauts 32  Titans 31 - Krauts came out firing and blitzkrieged them with 4 TD passes from Rodgers to start the game.  But the Titans came roaring back with 14 big points from Teddy "Two Gloves" Bridgewater!  Unfortunately for the Titans, they would fall one point short.
Rodgers fires 4 TDs early!

Chislers 43  Killers 9 - Josh Allen for the Chislers got back on track scoring 18 points in the blow out win and Dalvin Cook kept it up scoring 2 more times.  Even with a 43-6 lead, the Killers were still in it going into Monday Night with 6 Buccaneers and expecting a shoot out.  Well not so fast my friends.  The Bucs completely came out and vomited on themselves scoring just one FG all night!
That's the danger of having all eggs in one basket.

Animals 36  Crush 17 - Animals defeated the Crush behind QB Jake Luton "Free".  Who?  Well whoever he was he scored 10 points to go along with Tyler "Kick his ass sea" Bass 14 points, keeping their playoff hopes alive.  Crush just waiting for next year.
Who was this clown??

Whales 30 Ferrets 20 - Easy win for the Whales behind 16 points from Mahomes.  Ferrets turning into a dumpster fire at QB, with Jackson traded, Minshew benched and Kyle Allen getting his ankle dislocated and out for season.
Mahomes just behing Mahomes
(lot of guys from Car/KC game high lighted this week)

Player of the Week:  Josh Aleen, QB, Chislers and Kyler Murray, QB, Crew both with 18 points

CFFL Week 8

Well we have come out on the other side of the home and home series within the divisions and man what a wild week  it was!

So what is happening in the divisions after this series?  North still the Chislers to lose, but Crew right behind by one game.  Both 3-1 in division.  Animals making case for a playoff run after sweeping the Ferrets....In the South, Bees and Dragons on top at 4-4, but Bees have 4-0 division record....Sinistars starting to pull away in the East at 7-1 with a 4-0 division record.  Cocktails now 3 games behind at 4-4 with the Juggs...West is wild with 3 of the young bucks all tied at 4-4 for first...

Here's a look at Week 8 games:

COMEBACK GAME OF THE YEAR:  Wrecking Crew 48  Chislers 46 - So last week Chislers got no points from their Bills players and scored 55 points and won.  This week the Crew had no Murray or Hopkins and had to go with Lock.  Looked like trouble for the Crew once again.  The Chislers took a commanding 46-12 lead early behind Dalvin Cook's 24 points! The scoring just wouldn't stop at 1:00.  Crew would get a pick 6 to make it 46-18, but looked pretty bleak...
Cook plunges in for one of his 4 TDs

Jared Cook would snag a 16 yard TD pass making score 46-24, still seemingly out of reach.  DK Metcalf grabbed 2 TDs early giving a little hope to the crew with the score now 46-36.  But time was running out.  Lock hadn't done anything all game and it was moving to the fourth quarter.  That's when he would throw a 9 yard TD, then a 40 yard TD!  Game was now 46-44.  Time running out.  One last time for Lock to heave one in the end zone!  But it's incomplete!  Here comes the flag for PI and one final play of the game.  Lock would connect on a 1 yard TD pass for the win!!  An incredible finish for the Crew to keep the Chislers in sight.

Lock wins the game on last play of the game!

Krauts 31 (W) Cocktails 31 (OT)- In another wild game the Krauts managed to survive the onslaught of Molotov Cocktails raining down at the end.  Aaron Rodgers led the Krauts with 12 points as did Tyreek Hill for the Cocktails.  But as the game moved to the final night game, all the Cocktails had left was their Eagles D and down by 8 points.  The defense would scoop and score a fumble to pull within 2 points!  Then the Krauts snapped it out of the end zone on a punt and suddenly its tied 31-31!  Unfortunately the Cocktails number one back up was Gostkowski who only had 2 points while Kraut backup kicker Zuerlein had 9 giving the Germans the win!

Rodgers scores 12 points in the win

Killer Bees 13  Titans 7 - Not exactly a barn burner, but did have some drama at the end.  Killer Bees trailed Titans 7-5 going into the Monday Night game.  Bees had Danny Dimes and Shepard.  With them going up against the Buccaneers defense, this game could end 7-5.  But it would not, as Daniel Jones tossed not one but two TDs for the Killer Bees victory.

Danny Dimes!

Mayhem 24  Dragons 23 - These two rivalry teams traded shots in the second half and it came down to the Sunday Night game.  Brandon Aiyuk would score a TD but Mayhem would counter with Keenan Allen late Sunday afternoon.  Down 24-23 going into Sunday Night, the Dragons would need a Greg Ward TD catch.  Eh Boy.  Not exactly the player you want to count on for the win.  He had 3 catches for 10 yards and of course no TDs.

Allen for Mayhem

Animals 23  Ferrets 14 - Amazingly, considering the Ferrets incomplete line up due to both QBs on bye, the Animals had to sweat this one out.  Tied at 14 a piece, the Animals got 9 points from Carson "Circus Music" Wentz on Sunday night to take a 23-14 lead.  Ferrets were not done yet, with Ronald Jones going Monday night.  He would need to score at least twice.  He would score zero.  Animals win.

Wentz threw for 9 points but still Circus Music Wentz

Killers 33  Legion 15 - Well it's not like the Killers were too worried going into Monday night down 15-6, but had a plethora of Buccaneers playing.  It was a little hairy at first, as the Killers could only get FGs.  15-9.  15-12.  15-15 after a third FG and it was already 3rd quarter.  Not to worry.  Good ole Tom would hit Gronk for a 10 point connection to complete the come back easily.

This 10 point connection starting to heat up

Not all games were that dramatic.  We had two big blow outs too...

Sinistars 56  Juggernauts 13 - The Juggernauts were at one time looking like they may be the favorite to win it this year.  Preseason favorites too.  Traded for Lamar Jackson.  Sinistars, the defending champs said "hold my beer" and thump the Juggs behind 16 points from Wilson and 18 huge points from Davante Adams!
Adams scored three times!

Whales 62  Crush 23 - The Whales eclipsed the 60 point mark as they just couldn't stop scoring.  Mahomes led the way with 20 points, but they also had three players score 12 each.  Giovani Bernard had 2 TDs, Robert "Ice Bucket" Woods had 2 TDs and kicker Badgley had 12 points.  Crush packing it in for the season.
Mahomes scores 20 points!

Player of the Week:  Dalvin Cook, RB, Chislers - 24 points
