CFFL Week 7 2022

Half way through the home and homes.  What is happening in each division?

Well in the North the Crew continue to win beating the Animals and moving to 7-0 pushing the Animals to 2-5, while the Chislers defeated the Ferrets and are 2 games back still.  This division is looking like a two horse race...

The Titans get the early edge in the division beating the Warbirds and now lead the division by 1.  Dragons managed to sneak out a win against the Bees but both are now 2-5 in the bottom...

In the East it appears that no one is out of it yet.  While the Juggernauts are certainly in the drivers seat despite their loss to the Cocktails.  Helps that the Krauts lost to the Sinistars....

There is a three way tie in the west with Whales, Crush and Killers all 4-3.  Legion season about done as they sit 1-6...

Last weeks action:

Wrecking Crew 25  Animals 24 - The Crew get a huge performance out of Josh Jacobs "Jinglehiemerschmidt"!  Animals looked to be in control of this game and poised to hand the Crew their first loss of the season up 24-3 with Metcalf still to go.  Crew did have Carr, Jacobs and Renfrow, but they were struggling, until Jacobs got going scoring from 4 and 7 yards.  And with time running out Jacobs would add one more from 15 yards out for the game winner as Metcalf was carted off the field!
Jacobs had 18 points for the Crew!

Chislers 31  Ferrets 29 - This was a game of two halves.  The Chislers came out firing in the first half with Joe Burrow scoring 18 points and taking a big lead.  In the second half, the Ferrets would mount a huge come back getting 18 points from Hardman and 8 from Garoppolo to tie it up 29-29!  But with time running out the Chislers would get a safety from their Chief defense for the game winner!

Burrow had an 18 point performance for the Chisler win!

Dragons 43 Killer Bees 32 (OT) - In another thriller this bitter rivalry had to go into OT to decide the outcome.  The Dragons would take a 6 point lead late in the game with 10 points from their kicker Jason Sanders.  Seemed like they had the game won, until rookie WR George "Slim" Pickens would catch a TD pass to tie the game at 32!  With the Dragons as the home team, they got the first chance to score in OT with their back ups.  Joey Slye "and the Family Stone", an unlikely hero, would have 11 points to give the Dragons the win!
Sly and the Family Stone!

Titans 24  Warbirds 20 - The Warbirds knew they might be in trouble with their Eagles on bye.  They were right but the game was still pretty close thanks to a 2 TD performance from Aaron Jones.  In fact they only trailed by 2 late in the game until  "Aunt" JuJu caught a 45 yard TD for the Titans.  Down 24-16 the Warbirds were not out of it yet with back up QB Tua Tagovailoa AND Claypool Sunday Night.  Could the Warbirds pull it off?  Nope.  Tua would only throw for one TD and Claypool wouldn't find the endzone.
"Aunt" JuJu scores big TD for the Titans

Cocktails 19  Juggernauts 10 - In this lackluster game, it was a battle of defenses and special teams.  Basically the only players to score in this game was the kickers and D/ST.  Jason "Michael" Myers out dueled "Lug" Lutz 13-10 and then added an INT return for TD.

Sinistars 31 Krauts 13 - The Sinistars came away with the upset win of the Krauts 31-13 behind 12 points from rookie superstar Kenneth Walker III that included a 74 yard scamper. With most of his team on bye, including all his Bills, the Krauts certainly were flat and got only 10 points from Fields on Monday night to go along with 3 from their kicker.
Walker scoring one of his 2 TDs for the Sinistars

Crush 45  Legion 43 - The Crush would come away with the win in the shootout, but felt like a loss for them as their star rookie running back Breece Hall would go down with season ending knee injury.  He had 5 TDs already on the season and had scored 4 straight weeks.  Legion battled back in this game getting 20 points from their Charger connection of Herbert and Ekeler.  Stevenson on Monday night would pull them within 2 points.  He needed one more score for the win but couldn't get in.
Heartbreaking ending to Hall's season...

Whales 48  Killers 3 - The Whales showed no mercy on the Killers getting 12 points from three players to destroy the Killers (Mahomes, Edwards, Elliott).  The Killers were in trouble when early in the game Brady hit a wide open Evans for the 11 point connection only to have Evans completely drop it.  Maybe the poor performance by the Killers had to do with the distractions of the weekend as owner Cameron Cherry got married and left for his honey moon...

Players of the Week:  Josh Jacobs, RB, Crew and Joe Burrow, QB, Chislers - 18 points

CFFL Week 6 2022

Week 6 in the books.  Let's first look at the Week 6 action and then take a peak at the upcoming home and home divisional series for Week 7 and 8, a two week span that can make or break a season.

Week 6:

Wrecking Crew 40  Killer Bees 14 - No Carr, no Conner, no Jacobs, no problem for the Crew as they had little trouble with the Killer Bees.  This was in large part to 12 point performances by Aiyuk and "I don't always play fantasy football but when I do I draft" Gesicki.

Gesicki trying his best to do the TD dance

Ferrets 22  Dragons 10 - Dragons franchise in disarray.  Earlier in the week the cut their franchise player Russell Wilson and then get zero points in the game from Clyde Edward "Scissor Hands" Helaire and Kamara.  Jimmy G has been a nice addition to the Ferrets scoring 8 points.

Jimmy G did just enough for the Ferrets Victory

Warbirds 22  Animals 18 - Animals knew they were in trouble leading only 18-6 with the WhirlyEagles yet to play.  And they were right.  Hurts and kicker Elliott would combine for 16 points for the win.

The WhirlyEagles leading bird

Chislers 36  Titans 25 - Joe Burrow took control of this game scoring 18 huge points for the Cincinnati Chislers.  Aaron Rodgers is really not having a good year with the Titans, and wasn't thrilled when they drafted him.  He would score only 4 points this week.

Rodgers thinking "what am I doing with the Titans?"

Krauts 40  Legion 22 - I really thought this one would be squeaky bum time for the Krauts with the Legion Charger Brigade of Herbert, Ekeler, and Williams on MNF.  I was wrong.  That group would combine for only 6 points, while the Krauts Bills Blitzkrieg continues with Allen hitting "I want to be called" GABE Davis for a 10 point connection and then throwing 2 more.

Krauts' Blitzkrieg is coming and Josh Allen is coming with it!

Juggernauts 29  Crush 26 - What a comeback and a crushing defeat for the Crush (no pun intended).  Crush led 26-16 going into MNF.  10 point lead should be enough specially after kicker Hopkins came up lame after his first FG.  But what a gutsy performance by the Juggs kicker.  He would add 2 more FG and an XP before the MNF game would go into OT, where he would kick the game winner for both the Chargers and the Juggs!

Pain in the face of Hopkins as he kicks the game winner

Killers 26  Cocktails 22 (OT) - In another thriller, the Killers would come from behind late with a Miles Sanders TD run on SNF to tie the game at 22!  The Killers being the home team got first crack in OT to score and unbelievably they had "Bitch" Trubisky as their first back up.  He wasn't even a starter on Sunday, but when "Baby Hands" Pickett went down, he came in and threw a TD that would ultimate decide this game!

Sanders TD for the Killers sent the game into OT

Whales 22 Sinistars 21 - This game really came down to the battle between Chiefs.  The Sinistars' Kelce vs. Whales'  Mahomes and Butker.  One TD pass to Kelce and this game would fall into the hands of the Sinistars.  However Mahomes managed to throw 2 TD passes not to Kelce and 9 points from Butker would give the Whales the 1 point win!

Mahomes manages to keep the ball away from Kelce

Player of the Week - Joe Burrow, QB, Chislers - 18 points

Home and Home Preview:

North:
Animals (2-4) vs. Crew (6-0) - Crew have real chance to distance themselves in the North with a sweep of the Animals
Chislers (4-2) vs. Ferrets (3-3) - Ferrets at 3-3 could climb right back into the playoff hunt with a sweep or even a split with the Chislers

South:
Bees (2-4) vs. Dragons (1-5) - Both teams on the struggle bus.  If the Dragons can't get up for this series against the hated Bees all is lost.
Titans (3-3) vs. Warbirds (3-3) - This series will go a long way in deciding the division champ.  Warbirds could be in trouble in game one with the Eagles on a bye.

East:
Cocktails (2-4) vs. Juggernauts (5-1) - Cocktails desperately need a sweep here if they have any aspirations on an East Title.
Krauts (4-2) vs. Sinistars (2-4) - If the Juggernauts trip up vs. the Cocktails, a Kraut sweep could put them in the drivers seat.  Can the Sinistars climb back in the Eastern Bloc race?

West:
Crush (3-3) vs. Legion (1-5) - Legion could give the Crush some issues, but a sweep by the Crush and the playoff hopes for the Legion will be smashed.
Killers (4-2) vs. Whales (3-3) - Big match up in the West.  Killers can distance themselves from the Whales with a sweep or the Whales can flip the script with a sweep of their own!

CFFL Week 5 2022

In the North...Crew manage to remain undefeated at 5-0 with a league leading defense allowing the fewest points in the league (aka luck).  2 games back are the Chislers while Animals and Ferrets back at 2-3.  Crew have a nice 2 game lead, but eventually their luck will run out and the Chislers' won't...

In the South...Titans have a 1 game lead over the WhirlyEagles and Bees.  Dragons residing in the basement at 1-4.  I think this will be the year of the WhirlyEagles by the time the season is over and the win the South...

In the East...Juggs still a top of the East at 4-1 leading the Krauts by 1 game.  Cocktails and Sinistars get wins to move to 2-3.  Still see this as the Krauts division with their deadly connection of Allen to Davis...

In the West...Killers led by their Buccaneers and in a tie for first in the West with the Crush.  Whales right behind them one game back.  Legion are brining up the rear at 1-4.  Crush and their WRs still very dangerous, and the Bucs for the Killers are not having a great year.  Not sure Killers will be in first for long...

Week 5 action:

Wrecking Crew 29  WhirlyEagles 20 - Crew comeback and win again as Carr throws 2 TD passes and Josh Jacobs "JingleheimerSchmidt" plunges in for the game winner Monday night.
Carr doing just enough to keep the Crew winning

Ferrets 28  Killer Bees 17 - Ferrets had little trouble with the Bees behind "King" Henry's 12 points.  Apparently it is NOT Killer Bee Season!
King Henry rumbled in for 2 Ferret TDs

Chislers 27  Dragons 11 - The Chislers put this game away Sunday night with 10 points from Burrow and 5 more from kicker McPherson.  CEH "Scissor Hands" ended up being a non factor Monday night.

Burrow scores TD on ground for Chislers

Titans 40  Animals 34 - In a shoot out the Titans won the thriller with 2 late TDs from DaVante "Get the fuck out of my way" Adams.  The First TD tied the game at 34 and with the Animals at home, they most likely would have won in OT, so the Titans needed a second score.  Adams delivered scoring on a long TD bomb very late in the game for the win!

"Get the fuck out of my way!"

Sinistars 46  Legion 29 - The Legion didn't stand a chance with just a 29-22 lead going into Monday night.  Now normally, you might feel good knowing that if your opponent has only one player and that they would need two scores.  But this one player was Kelce.  And he would score 4 times!  Game over man! Game over!

Cocktails 26  Whales 25 - What a nail biter.  The Hayden Hurst TD Sunday night ended up being the difference.  Cocktails had to sweat out Monday night as the Whales had Mahomes, MVS, and Waller.  Mahomes would deliver with 16 points, but the Whales needed just 2 more points for the win but it would not happen.

Hurst's TD would be the eventual game winner

Juggernauts 22 Killers 12 - After scoring 55 points last week, the Killers scored only 12 in the loss.  McCaffery and Jeff "Accountant" Wilson both would find the endzone for the Juggs

Brady and the Killers had a rough day.

Krauts 43  Crush 32 - The Crush couldn't survive the blitzkrieg from the Kraut Buffalo players.  Josh Allen would hit "I want to be called" GABE Davis twice for 10 point connections.  They would combine for a total of 28 points.

Allen on Davis man love...

Player of the Week:  Travis Kelce, TE, Sinistars - 24 points!

CFFL Week 4 2022

After Week 4 there is now only one unbeaten team left, the Wrecking Crew.  They somehow managed to remain undefeated with the 4th worst offense in the league.  Guess they are channeling some Chisler Luck.

We had some wild action this week...here is how it all played out.

Game of the Week:  Whales 32  Juggernauts 26 (OT) - The Juggernauts came into the game 3-0 and looked to remain unbeaten.  The Whales were hoping for a rebound game from Mahomes.  McCaffrey scored for the Juggs, but only got 4 points from leagues top scorer Lamar Jackson.  After 10 points from their kicker the Juggs would lead 20-14.  Mahomes did bounce back and scored 12 points on Sunday night giving them a 26-20 lead and seemingly the victory.  However, Jeff Wilson broke away for a 32 yard TD Monday night to tie the game at 26 sending it to OT.  With the Whale at home they got first crack to score, and back up Jacoby Brissett ran in from 4 yards out giving them the win!

Mahomes leading Whales to victory
Penny for the Bees had two long TD runs!
Other games around the league...

Wrecking Crew 23  Titans 16 - Josh Jacobs "Jingleheimerschmidt"  finally came out of hibernation and scored 12 points in the Crew's win over the Titans.  Titans only got 8 from Rodgers and 8 from their kicker.

Killer Bees 40  Chislers 23 - Bee's back Rashard Penny busted loose for two long TDs while kicker Carlson kicked 4 FGs!  Chislers back up QB Jared Goff's 19 points wouldn't even had helped..

Animals 43  Dragons 41 - The Animals were able to hang on for the win as Danny Dimes had 12 points and  Chubb "Chubb, Chubb Chubb" and Mixon both scored TDs.  But they had to sweat it out as the Dragons would get 2 TDs from CEH and then a Deebo "Dabo Sweeny" Samuel score Monday night.  However that would be Samuel's only TD giving the Animals the victory.

Warbirds 25 Ferrets 21 - Warbirds' TE TJ Hockenson was huge scoring 2 TDs and a 2 point conversion.  After a subpar game by the Warbirds Eagle players (11 points), the Ferrets just needed a 3 TD performance from Jimmy G on Monday night but as Ferret luck would have it, he would only throw 1...
Hockenson scoring 6 of his 14 points!

Crush 30  Sinistars 28 - Crush hang on to move to 3-1.  They had to survive Travis Kelce on Sunday night to eek out the win.  Kelce did score once and the way he was playing, looked like he might score more.

Brady, forever a Killer
Iron Legion 43  Cocktails 39 - Ekeler finally got in the endzone, but not once, not twice, but three times for the Legion!  They needed it as the Cocktails were relentless.  I'm not sure what is more shocking, that they got 18 points from their RBs of Jamaal Williams and Patterson, or that 18 of their points cam from Lions players (Williams and Reynolds).

Killers 55 Krauts 26 - The Killers exploded for a Fifty-burger on the Krauts, led by two 11 point connections from the Brady/Evans/Succop connection and 12 points from Miles Sanders.  This was after the Krauts opened the game with 16-0 lead!

Player of the Week - Austin Ekeler, RB, Legion - 18 points
