CFFL Week 7 2022

Half way through the home and homes.  What is happening in each division?

Well in the North the Crew continue to win beating the Animals and moving to 7-0 pushing the Animals to 2-5, while the Chislers defeated the Ferrets and are 2 games back still.  This division is looking like a two horse race...

The Titans get the early edge in the division beating the Warbirds and now lead the division by 1.  Dragons managed to sneak out a win against the Bees but both are now 2-5 in the bottom...

In the East it appears that no one is out of it yet.  While the Juggernauts are certainly in the drivers seat despite their loss to the Cocktails.  Helps that the Krauts lost to the Sinistars....

There is a three way tie in the west with Whales, Crush and Killers all 4-3.  Legion season about done as they sit 1-6...

Last weeks action:

Wrecking Crew 25  Animals 24 - The Crew get a huge performance out of Josh Jacobs "Jinglehiemerschmidt"!  Animals looked to be in control of this game and poised to hand the Crew their first loss of the season up 24-3 with Metcalf still to go.  Crew did have Carr, Jacobs and Renfrow, but they were struggling, until Jacobs got going scoring from 4 and 7 yards.  And with time running out Jacobs would add one more from 15 yards out for the game winner as Metcalf was carted off the field!
Jacobs had 18 points for the Crew!

Chislers 31  Ferrets 29 - This was a game of two halves.  The Chislers came out firing in the first half with Joe Burrow scoring 18 points and taking a big lead.  In the second half, the Ferrets would mount a huge come back getting 18 points from Hardman and 8 from Garoppolo to tie it up 29-29!  But with time running out the Chislers would get a safety from their Chief defense for the game winner!

Burrow had an 18 point performance for the Chisler win!

Dragons 43 Killer Bees 32 (OT) - In another thriller this bitter rivalry had to go into OT to decide the outcome.  The Dragons would take a 6 point lead late in the game with 10 points from their kicker Jason Sanders.  Seemed like they had the game won, until rookie WR George "Slim" Pickens would catch a TD pass to tie the game at 32!  With the Dragons as the home team, they got the first chance to score in OT with their back ups.  Joey Slye "and the Family Stone", an unlikely hero, would have 11 points to give the Dragons the win!
Sly and the Family Stone!

Titans 24  Warbirds 20 - The Warbirds knew they might be in trouble with their Eagles on bye.  They were right but the game was still pretty close thanks to a 2 TD performance from Aaron Jones.  In fact they only trailed by 2 late in the game until  "Aunt" JuJu caught a 45 yard TD for the Titans.  Down 24-16 the Warbirds were not out of it yet with back up QB Tua Tagovailoa AND Claypool Sunday Night.  Could the Warbirds pull it off?  Nope.  Tua would only throw for one TD and Claypool wouldn't find the endzone.
"Aunt" JuJu scores big TD for the Titans

Cocktails 19  Juggernauts 10 - In this lackluster game, it was a battle of defenses and special teams.  Basically the only players to score in this game was the kickers and D/ST.  Jason "Michael" Myers out dueled "Lug" Lutz 13-10 and then added an INT return for TD.

Sinistars 31 Krauts 13 - The Sinistars came away with the upset win of the Krauts 31-13 behind 12 points from rookie superstar Kenneth Walker III that included a 74 yard scamper. With most of his team on bye, including all his Bills, the Krauts certainly were flat and got only 10 points from Fields on Monday night to go along with 3 from their kicker.
Walker scoring one of his 2 TDs for the Sinistars

Crush 45  Legion 43 - The Crush would come away with the win in the shootout, but felt like a loss for them as their star rookie running back Breece Hall would go down with season ending knee injury.  He had 5 TDs already on the season and had scored 4 straight weeks.  Legion battled back in this game getting 20 points from their Charger connection of Herbert and Ekeler.  Stevenson on Monday night would pull them within 2 points.  He needed one more score for the win but couldn't get in.
Heartbreaking ending to Hall's season...

Whales 48  Killers 3 - The Whales showed no mercy on the Killers getting 12 points from three players to destroy the Killers (Mahomes, Edwards, Elliott).  The Killers were in trouble when early in the game Brady hit a wide open Evans for the 11 point connection only to have Evans completely drop it.  Maybe the poor performance by the Killers had to do with the distractions of the weekend as owner Cameron Cherry got married and left for his honey moon...

Players of the Week:  Josh Jacobs, RB, Crew and Joe Burrow, QB, Chislers - 18 points
