CFHL Update 2.21.22

Happy Presidents Day!  After Sunday's updates on the games, not a lot changed throughout Sunday.

The Goon Crew and White Mambas skated to a 3-3 tie.  While the Mamba dominated skating categories, the Goon Crew dominated in hits and goalie stats.  Jake Oettinger was top player for Crew getting 2 wins and a .972 SV%  Aaron Ekblad had a great week for the Mambas with 3 goals, 3 assists for a D man.  The Crew is just playing for pride now, after a disastrous beginning to the season are out of playoff contention.  The White Mambas are in the thick of the playoff race and would currently be in if began today.

The wheels seemed to have fallen off of the Checkers as they go down 5-1 once again to the Assassins.  The Assassins won in impressive fashion dominating all but hits.  McDavid of course had another great week with 3g and 5a.  Bobrovsky and Shesterkin combined for 5 wins for the Assassins.  They trail the Greek Empire by 3 points for the top spot in the league, but unfortunately, if they don't catch them, they won't get the bye since in same division.  This was the third straight 1-5 loss for the Checkers who now find themselves out of the playoffs by 3 points.

McDavid truly an Assassin

Greek Empire and the California Raisins faced off in a big battle in the Cherry Division.  Empire had a 5-1 lead going into Sunday, but the Raisins got a little help from Jack Eichel, who scored his first goal of the year allowing the Raisins to tie the Empire in goals, finishing the game losing 4-1-1. The Empire lead the league in points, 3 ahead of the Assassins and would get a bye.  The Raisins are still in good shape for the playoffs.
Eichel fired up for his first goal, despite the loss

Krampus Carols managed to hang on against Who Gives a Puck Sunday and finished 3-2-1.  Krampus center Mark Scheifele had 4 goals for the week.  Puck star Kirill Kaprizov had 3 goals, 5 assists and 4 PPP in the loss.   He will be key down the stretch as the Puck are poised to make a run.  They lead the Smythe division by 13 points!  Krampus Carols are in playoff contention.  They hold a 3 point lead for the last spot over the Checkers.

And in the last game, it had very little impact on anything as it was a game between the two worst teams in the league, the Mayhem on Ice and the Space Monkey Mafia.  Game was 3-0-3 going into Sunday, but the Space Monkeys were able to snag two additional categories that were tied.  On Sunday the Space Monkeys got 2 goals and 5 assists to break ties in goals and assists.  Mayhem on Ice got solid goal tending from Jack Campbell and Ilya Samsonov.  They combined for 4 wins and .930 SV%.

Samsonov, a small bright spot for the Mayhem

As we enter Week 18, we still have 7 more weeks in the regular season.  Playoffs start Monday April 11 so a lot can happen between now and then...

CFHL Update 2.8.22

Quick Update on the CFHL Season...

In the Smythe division, Who Gives a Puck leads by 5 points over the White Mambas, that many of us are wondering if he is even paying attention.  The Puck have been led by Mikko Rantanen who has 24 goals, 30 assists and 20 PPP on the year so far.  Tom Wilson and Martin Fehervary lay the wood with 125 and 119 hits respectively.

The other top 3 teams are all in the Cherry Division.  Greek Empire now has a 4 point lead over the Raisins and the Assassins.  Jarry and Markstrom between the pipes have been big combining for 40 wins and a SV% of .923.  But then again, the Raisins and Assassins are no slouch in the net either.  Raisins roll out Demko and Lehner (36 wins , .913 SV%) and Assassins have the Russian duo of Bobrovsky and Shesterkin (45 wins and .928 SV%).  And both teams sport the Oilers best skaters in McDavid (Assassins) and Draisaitle (Raisins).
