CFFL History: Fantasy Bowl IX

So coming off their second Fantasy Bowl title, in 1993 the Jewels would win only one game going 1-13.  The Twins, who were the top in the East for the past three years would finish last.  It was time for some new blood perhaps in the Fantasy Bowl.

Pete's Power, formerly known as the Pulverizers were a surprise wild card team finishing 7-7.  They had previous season records of 1-13, 1-12, and 3-10.  They were the times Titans or Jackals. But his season would be different.  They would defeat the Chislers 29-10 in Round 1 and the Crickets 14-5 in the semis getting a date with the Martin Maulers in Fantasy Bowl IX.

The Maulers were a respected team, with owner Dan Martin tending to draft his team in stairways or other rooms from the crowd, wandering around.  Well what ever he did in 1993 worked as the Maulers finished 8-6 and defeated two time champ Mooches in Round 1 and the Bums in the semis.

Fantasy Bowl IX was a classic to remember.  Too bad we don't have any records to show what a classic it was (unless the Commish recall), but the Maulers would win the Fantasy Bowl trophy defeating the Power 42-40!
Steve Young captured the CFFL 1993 MVP award
with 29 passing TDs and 2 rushing.
