In 2008 it would appear the Ferrets were ready to storm back into the Fantasy Bowl as they won the North led once again by Tony Romo, but they would fall one game short losing to bitter division rival Chislers 24-19.
Yes that's right. Back were the Chislers, getting to their 7th Fantasy Bowl. The Chislers, not having the most potent year in their history, managed to beat the Mayhem 18-15 in Round 1 and the Ferrets in the semis. Kurt Warner was leading this team most of the season, but a late playoff change to Jay Cutler in the semis was the difference as he scored 12 points to Warner's 0.
They would be taking on the upstart Ypsi Yard Dogs, who entered the league just the year before. They were led by Drew Brees and would beat the Crush by a point, 30-29 followed by a win in the semis over the Juggernauts 49-26. They would move on to Fantasy Bowl XXIV to take on the mighty Chislers.

The Yard Dogs would come out firing with 4 TD passes from Drew Brees early, but the Chislers would counter with 12 from Steven Jackson and 6 more from Roddy White and kicker Folk. The Chislers held a 24-22 lead late in the game. It was down to the last game of the season, with Yard Dogs having their Kicker Nate Kaeding vs. Chisler Cutler and Gates. Seemed advantage Chislers. Kaeding got things started with a FG giving the Yard Dogs the lead 25-24. Chargers would add three more TDs but none to Gates, but giving Kaeding and the Yard Dogs three more points. Score now was 28-24 for the Yard Dogs. Two more Charger TDs again none to Gates and now the score was 30-24 in favor of the Yard Dogs.

Cutler would finally connect for a TD pass early in the 4th quarter and then he ran in the 2 point conversion tying the game up at 30!!! Will the Chislers finally be on the other end of a heartbreaker. They needed just one more Cutler or Gates score to win! Chargers would drive two more times into the red zone, but they would run it in both times, giving Yard Dog kicker Kaeding 2 more points and a Fantasy Bowl win 32-30. Mark yet another heartbreaking Fantasy Bowl loss for the Chislers. The following year the Yard Dogs would get kicked out of the league...(oh and another side note, Kurt Warner had 16 points on the bench for the Chislers...)
