CFFL History: Fantasy Bowl XVI

It was the year 2000.  Back in 1985 the year 2000 seemed like the future.  But here we are still playing Fantasy Football.  The Power won the west at 8-6.  In the first round they would hammer the Crew 66-43 behind 24 points from Marshal Fault and 16 from McNabb.  They would go on to beat the Mafia 40-27 to move on to Fantasy Bowl XVI.

They would face the Twins, who were back into the Fantasy Bowl after beating the Apes 31-29 in Round 1 and the Ferrets 42-18 in the Semis.  They were led by Brett Favre, Randy Moss and Terrell Owens.

Fantasy Bowl XVI

The Power led this game from the beginning to the very end. It was never close. The Power started with 6 from Amani Toomer and 5 from Mike Hollis to take an early 11-0 first quarter lead. What was more ominous for the Twins was the fact both Terrell Owens and Jimmy Smith were shut out in the early goings. They were both key players to any Twins success. Later in the 2nd quarter the Power opened up the game with 18 huge points from playoff MVP Marshall Faulk. Marshall has scored an incredible 66 points in the Power's 3 playoff games. 4 more from McNabb and at the half, the Power led 33-0.

Fault was the playoff MVP scoring 66 points!

In the second half the Twins showed some life, getting 6 from Randy Moss and 10 from Sebastian Janikowski. But the Power continued to roll getting an incredible 12 points from their defense, one a 72 yard fumble return as time expired. The Power led 45-16 after three quarters. The Power joked then that only the Twins defense could win this game, and they certainly tried. The Twins defense made it respectable with 18 fourth quarter points, but it was all too little too late for the Twins.

"If I would have gotten any production from my usual reliable players (Favre, Smith, Owens) this game would have been close, but you gotta hand it to the Power and Marshall Faulk" said Twins owner Mike Thomsen. Power owner Pete Sforza bellowed, "Time for a threepeat!"
