CFFL 2017 Update Week 9

After the home and homes have done their damage here are two outstanding games from last week:

Killer Bees 37  Cocktails 36

The Cocktails spotted them a 37-18 lead after the early games as the Bees got 8 from Ryan and 17 points from their special teams Broncos and kicker.  Could the Cocktails come back with Prescott, Witten, Nugent and Lockett.  Prescott got things going running one in.  He would end up with 14 points, but no TD passes to Witten.  Nugent had only 4 points.  If only they would have got a FG or a pass to Witten instead of Beasley, or anything!  But no, short by one point and the Bees hang on.
Dak runs it in for the Cocktails but wasn't enough

Mayhem 44  Roulette 36

After it appeared that the Roulette had forgotten all about their troubles of Rodgers going down the Mayhem mounted a huge comeback on Monday night.  They needed 17 points to comeback and win vs the Roulette and have Adams not score.  Normally you would think no way that's gonna happen.  But the Packers have become a shit show with out Rodgers and the Roulette soon to follow.  Marvin Jones scored 2 TDs for Mayhem and Prater kicked 12 for good measure to complete the comeback.  Adams didn't even sniff the endzone.

Great White North outlook:

While no one is out of this division yet, it is becoming more clear that it may be a 2 team race.  Animals have been in first place for most of the year at 5-4.  Animals will probably be riding the shoulders of Alex Smith rest of the way.  The Chislers have the number 2 ranked offense with 294 points scored but are 4-5.  Give it time and Gurely and Chisler luck may put them in the division lead.  The Ferrets and Crew are a dumpster fire.  Well at least the Crew are with Carr and Cooper just not producing and their trio of Packers a complete disaster since Rodgers went down.  Ferrets don't have a single player outside of kicker and QB that has scored more than 18 points this season.

Sad Sack South:

This division at one time looked like it was all Titans.  Titans started 3-0 and are now 4-5.  What happened to the Titans.  Well apparently its baby steps for the Titans.  They finally figured out how to draft, but now they need to figure out how to manage their team.  Last week they failed to pick up a QB that was actually playing and also were not savy enough to pay attention that Ertz was inactive last week.  So he opened the door wide open for the Mayhem and Dragons to take the lead in the South.  Dragons will be just fine if they stay away from those damn Dolphin players.   But then again they have Eli Manning as another option and it appears he is having a circus music Manning year.  Mayhem are living dangerously riding the Saint Train with Brees, Thomas and Ginn.  So far so good, but how long will it last?  The Bees at 3-6 may not be out of it, but perhaps next year they won't take Gostkowski so early in the draft.

Que the circus music

Eastern Bloc

Wentz for MVP
The Fourth Reich seem to have control of the East once again, as in days past.  They have the number one offense led by MVP candidate Carson Wentz and rookie Fournette.  He could ride both of them right to the Fantasy Bowl.  The Cocktails seem to be the only one that might be a viable threat at 5-4 but have their own issues.  They rely heavily on the Cowboys and seem to be more concerned with picking up the latest person that was dropped on waivers...The Roulette almost seemed to have put the injury of Rodgers behind them.  But if they are going to hitch their wagon to Osweiler they might as well pack it up.  You can't rely on winning games with Fat Rob, Buck "Naked" Allen, and MMA fighter AJ Green this year.  The Juggs always quiet, sit at the bottom and instead of figuring out which Tennessee RB will score finally is starting both of them.  Don't think it will be enough with Hundley at the helm.

Wild Wild West

Wait what?  I got traded?
In this division no one is out of it yet.  All teams are 2-2 in the division and separated by only 2 games.  Surprisingly the Bums are in first at 6-3.  I wonder if he even knows it, since on more than one occasion he had a player that had a bye in his line up.  There has been whispers that they were going to get kicked out of the league or they may retire, but at 6-3 they better start paying attention.  The Sinistars managed  a sinister trade getting Russel Wilson away from the Crush who thought they had their key to a championship in Watson.  Well almost on the day of the Trade the Sinistars put a hit out on Watson, and he tore his ACL.  But hey the Crush got their favorite team QB Big Ben in the deal so not all is lost.  I mean Ben has 40 points! (Wilson has 75).  The upstart Killers who started with no protected player (which for some of us that player is a stiff) is right in the thick of things despite his allegiance to the Buccaneers.  It may be time to start Cole Beasley and leave him in, concussions be damned.

Happy Halloween
