One of Kesler's 2 goals to prevent the shut out! |
With the Enforcers facing a possible shut out 6-0 against the Checkers, Ryan Kesler took matters in his own hands. The Checkers had two players playing (Zetterberg and Kronwall) but they did little to help the preserve the shut out. Kesler then tallied 2 goals to win the goals categories and then had a penalty to tie PIM to make the game 4-1-1. While it was still a loss on the books it felt like a victory!
Player of the Week: Evgeni Malkin, Who Gives a Puck
Malkin helped the Puck get a rare win for the week beating the AshBusters 4-1-1. Malkin had a huge week scoring 3 goals, 6 ASSISTS, a +5 and 8 PIM! His best week of the season and hopes to continue this trend to get the Puck back into the hunt.
Alex's Assassins |
The Assassins were not afraid of a bunch of little fluffy bunnies and handed the Bunnies their first loss of the season. The smacked those Bunnies around for 36 PIM. The victory helped the Assassins keep pace with the Checkers and remained only 1 point behind and now hold the 3rd best record. The Bunnies still remain at the top of the league with the best record.
Goon of the Week: David Backes, Animals - 14 PIM
Helping provide the smack down to the Bunnies David Backes had 14 PIM, 12 came in one game! The 36 PIM for the Animals was the most by any team this season thus far.

Net minders of the Week: Antti Niemi and Steve Mason "Consolidated" - Goon Crew
Niemi and Mason combined for a season high 5 Goalie wins this week against the Krampus. Interesting enough the Krampus also had a season high 14 goals in that match up despite the 4-2 loss. Niemi was the number one pick of the draft, but Mason was a pleasant waiver pick up and has been playing well. Niemi had 3 wins and now has 5 wins in a row.
Niemi is on a roll! |
Ginger Twin update: Henrietta and Danielle, SLVB
The Ginger Twins combined for 3 goals, 5 assists and 6 PIM to help the Killer Smurfs defeat the USSR 4-2. Seems when these two Gingers play well so does SLVB. While they are clearly a Dynamic Delta Bravo Duo, they seem to play well now that they are playing together with the Killer Smurfs.
