CFFL Week 14

Well the final week is in the books.  Hard to believe the regular season of the CFFL's 29th year has come to a close and we move onto the playoffs.

One of those days
In the North...The Wrecking Crew finished with an impressive 11-3 record, but lost its season finale to a hungry Animals pack that was fighting for its playoff lives.  The Animals needed to win and the Juggernauts to loose, and both happened.  The Crew, with nothing to play for, looked like it.  Newton had one of his famous "towel on his head" games and threw only one TD.  Jimmy Graham made it a game with 2 TDs, but Monday night the Animals 3 players out played the Crew's 3.  Animals had Romo (12), Jeffery (6), and Cowboy D, while the Crew had Marshall and Bennett, both with 0 and Team Bailey only had 4.  Animals made it in as the final seed and get to play the number one seed Sinistars....Chislers took care of the Ferrets 49-13 and seem to be in prime playoff form and making another run at yet another Fantasy Bowl title.  Rivers and Keenan Allen hooked up for 2 10 point connections! "Survey Says" Dawson had 13 points.  Chislers are ready and will be taking on the Bums in the first round.
Allen and Rivers 2 10 point connections!
Nina wins in Vegas and for Sinistars

In the Eastern Bloc...The Sinistars finished strong at 13-1 avenging their only defeat of the year to the Roulette.  The game was meaningless in the playoff seeding but you wouldn't know it by this game.  The Sinistars won 38-34.  The Roulette was leading late in the game 34-31 after Peyton Manning had another Manning type day with 16 points.  But the Sinistars got 7 points from "Nina" Hartley on Sunday Night to win the game.  Not to mention 12 form their Defense Chiefs.  Sinistars suffered a tough loss in this game.  Gronkowski, who missed most of the beginning part of the season, came back and was scoring every week, tore his ACL and is now out for the season. Roulette got a scare as Peterson went down too in pain, but just has a sprain and should be ready for the playoffs...The Krauts, despite being out of the playoffs, took pleasure in bitch slapping the  Juggernauts one last time to make sure they were not making the playoffs.  But the Juggs were there own worse enemy losing 3 in a row to end the season.
Ouch....

Mayhem had good time in snow
In the South...The Bees are the only playoff team in the South and finished 9-5 after defeating the Dragons 27-24.  The Bees hung on in this game as the Dragons made an attempt at coming back but needed one more Witten TD on Monday night for the victory.  But it was not to be and a team that had Aaron Rodgers for the past two years came up empty once again.  The Killer Bees kicker Matt Prater set a record with a 64 yard FG to go along with his 15 points!...The Mayhem put the Titans out of their misery 37-26 to close out the Titans one win season, the worst in the history of the CFFL.  The Mayhem in a snow storm got 2 TDs from Shady McCoy and 10 points from Mason "Consolidated" Crosby "Stills, Nash and Young".  The typical Titans fashion, one last time, chose the wrong QB, which plagued them all season long.  They started Eli Manning (4) instead of Tannehill (12).
Titan fans had enough of Eli Manning...

In the West...This was the strangest set of games of the week.  The Division was up for grabs for the Bums and the Crush, who were not playing each other, but both were tied.  If stayed tied the Crush would be the West Division Winners.  So what do the Crush do?  Bench all of their starters and throw the game!  Eh What????  Yes that's right and were the only team in CFFL history to be shut out, 35-0 to the Mafia.  Apparently the thought of winning the division didn't mean a thing to this team.  Rumor has it it was a ploy not to be seeded to play the Roulette.  But instead they draw the Crew.  Careful what you wish for...Bums said hell with this, and slammed the Twins to make sure they won the West spanking the Twins 53-16.  Malachi Dalton had 18 points and Jamaal Charles had 12 more.
Dalton in high school, in the corn fields....

Player of the Week:  Andy "Malachi" Dalton, 18 points, Bums
Dalton racked up 18 points as the Bums made a statement, winning the West at 9-5 and are a dangerous team entering the playoffs.  Dalton, Charles, Fitzgerald, and Julius "Orange" Thomas, not to mention Hauschka and the Raven D.

Playoff match ups:
8 Animals at 1 Sinistars - Will #1 seed woes continue with Gronk out?
7 Crush at 2 Wrecking Crew - What a bitter nasty match up!
6 Checkers at 3 Bums - Checkers face Charles in Charge again!
5 Roulette at 4 Bees - Week 12 rematch...Bees revenge?
