CFFL Week 14 Review

It all started in July as we began to prepare for the season, thinking of the off season moves, who to protect, what order will the draft be.  Then we began to create lists, load software, buy magazines (yes we still do) then the Draft arrives as we all try to draft a team that will take us to the illusive Championship.  This was followed by a few week wait until the season began.

Then we continued to tinker with lineups, pick up guys off waiver wire, hope and pray...for 14 weeks....and then its all over with for 8 of us and the other 8 it continues.  The motto of this league for years was just make the playoffs, because you never know what might happen once you get in, as for last year seeds 7 and 8 made it to the Fantasy Bowl.   Here's how Week 14 ended up:

IN THE NORTH:
Well the North once again proved to be one of the toughest divisions and will be sending 3 out of the 4 teams to the playoffs.  The Chislers and Animals squeaked by and made it in.  One had to win in double OT to get in, and the other had to win its final game and hope it had enough points to win the tie breakers.

The Chislers defeated the Division Champion Ferrets in double OT.  The Chislers had a 10 point lead late in the 4th quarter but the Ferrets stormed back  with 6 from Foster and 6 from Gostkowski and only needed one more point to put the Chislers to 7-7.  But the game went into OT where each of their back up kickers scored a whopping 1 point each, and then it went to the Chisler back up QB Rivers, who was benched and scored 12 points for the win.  The Chislers will attempt to repeat as CFFL Champs (giving them 4 titles) and is their 20th playoff appearance since 1985, as the Ferrets seek their first ever Championship.  This is the Ferrets 6 division title and 11 playoff appearance since 1985

Animals held on to defeat the Crew and sneak into the playoffs with a 7-7 record.  The Animals stormed back with Player of the Week Marshawn Lynch's 18 points, followed by a Victor Cruz salsa dance in the end zone.  The Crew couldn't get the big late comeback this time as Cobb was held scoreless.  The Animals, in their 4 playoff appearance in 13 years, draw their division rival Ferrets and that could be bad news.  The Ferrets won both games this year 40-33 and 41-24, and RGIII may not be playing.  .

IN THE EAST:
The East will be sending only one team this year and surprisingly it is not the Krauts who did finally mange to end its 8 game losing streak beating the Juggs 36-20 proving the Juggs are still the Krauts bitch sweeping them.  But despite the loss the Juggernauts, with a lame 7-7 record won the East over the Sinistars who were also 7-7 but were swept by the Juggs. This is the Juggs 3rd Division title since 2005 and their 4th playoff appearance, second in a row.  They have the luxury of playing the high powered Twins in round 1.

The Roulette's run for the playoffs was ended by the Sinistars 39-34.  Stafford completed the comeback scoring 10 points late in the game for the Sinistar victory.  The Roulette wasted 12 points from Flacco and Peterson.  The Roulette almost made the playoffs after dealing away some of their best players and getting draft picks.

IN THE SOUTH:
Both Mayhem and Bees were in the playoffs but they were playing for the division title and the higher seed in the playoffs.  The Mayhem came out on top beating the Titans 36-33 while the Bees lost to the Dragons 35-33.  The Mayhem win the division while having the Dragons actually draft their team.  They looked to be beat by the Titans, but 16 points from Brady on MNF, matching Eli Manning's 16 points for the Titans gave them the win.  This is the Mayhem's 5th division title and 8th playoff appearance in thier 11 years in the league.

The Dragons got some satisfaction out of an otherwise disappointing season by beating the hated Bees.  The game was tied 23-23 going into the MNF game and Hernandez scored twice to beat the Bees 35-23.  The Dragons had benched Rodgers for Russell Wilson the last two weeks proving this team was a mess...The Bees have been in the league for 13 years and this marks their 9th playoff appearance as they go for their 2nd Fantasy Bowl Championship.

IN THE WEST:
This division was down to the last game as the Twins and Bums faced off with the winner taking the Division title.  The odds on favorite and the number 2 offense in the league Twins were sure to win.  But the Bums upset the Twins 28-24 lead by 12 points from Darren Sproles.  The Twins needed at least 6 points from their kicker Shayne Graham on MNF.  However he only got 2 points and cost the Twins the division.

The Bums, who entered the league in 1986, earn their 16 playoff appearance and 9th division title.  The Twins, who entered the league in 1990, are making their 18th playoff appearance.

The Crush knocked out the Mafia defeating them 32-25 behind 12 points from Trent Richardson.  The Crush finished strong in the past 3 weeks and finished 4th in the league in points scored with 433.

Next weeks playoff match ups:

Animals at Ferrets - Ferrets swept them in the regular season.  Animals maybe with out RGIII, Manning the comeback player of the year in the CFFL

Bees at Mayhem - In another divisional match up in the playoffs the Bees swept the Mayhem in the home and home series, 36-27 and 22-20. Bees will need Brees to come out of hibernation. Mayhem's Brady hitting his stride.

Chislers at Bums - Bums beat the Chislers 20-16 earlier in the season.  Chislers rely on Chargers and Ravens. Bums continue to do this with smoke and mirrors. Look at their roster!

Twins at Juggernauts - These two teams did not face this year. Twins have great running game with rookies Morris and Martin, plus the Cincy connection, Dalton and Green.  Juggernauts are lead by...um...by...how did they make the playoffs again??
