CFFL Week 13 Review

Season is almost over (for some of us) and this week was divisional match ups as teams try to jockey for playoff position while other teams try to play the role of spoiler.

THE NORTH
In the North we saw the Ferrets defeat the Animals 41-24 and clinch it's 6th Division Title, and first since 2008. Peyton Manning has to be the pick of the decade as the Ferrets picked him up last year and held him over for this year.  He scored 12 points and is ranked 3rd among QBs in the CFFL.  The Animals who were flying high with RGIII and the Bear defense has been quiet and lost 3 in row falling to 6-7 and facing elimination from the playoff hunt.  The Ferrets having a 9-4 record are tied with the Twins for first overall, but you never want to be that #1 seed.

The Crew won it's "Fantasy Bowl" by beating their bitter rival the Chislers as Bryce Brown scored two late game TDs for the victory 27-23.  The Crew's run for the playoffs ended last week when they lost and now are playing role of spoiler, first the Chislers who now are 7-6 and with a loss next week to the Ferrets could be 7-7 and fighting for its playoff life.  Next will be the Animals for the Crew and could eliminate them with a win. The Chislers have a love / hate relationship with their Ravens and Charger players.  As they go as goes the Chislers.  But as owner Rick Cherry keeps reminding us the Crew and Chislers made the playoffs as 7 and 8 seeds last year and went to the Fantasy Bowl.

THE EAST
Is it hot in here or what? The Krauts have dropped their 8th in a row, a frachise record.  This weeks loss was to the Roulette who had given up on their season weeks ago, traded away their best player and almost made a run to the playoffs, and with a win next week and some help, still have shot.  The Krauts had this game won but in late game heroics Dez Bryant scored twice for the Roulette to give them the win 30-27.  Pierre Garcon could only come up with 1 TD, but needed 2 (He's no Bryce Brown).  The Krauts looked like they were running away with the division about 8 weeks ago...Ovens fired up and showers are on!

In a battle for first place outright in the East was the Sinistars and Juggs.  Most likely the only way to get in the playoffs is to win this division for the East.  Juggernauts won their 3rd in a row 26-19 behind a balanced attack of Ingram, Ridley and Brandon "Cherry" Myers (who?).  Sinistars who are full of big names have yet to really live up to the hype.  Stafford, Jamaal Charles, Fred Jackson, Julio Jones, Dallas Clark.  14 points from all of them.

THE SOUTH
When will the Dragons learn to get away from his brother on draft day.  Constant distractions and bitching at his brother has lead this team to a second straight year sitting home for the Holidays.  To make matters worse tied for first in his division is the Mayhem, the team he drafted because allegedly the Mayhem had a wedding to go to.  They even benched Aaron Rodgers (which surprisingly turned out to be the right move as Russel Wilson outscored Rodgers).  But Jason Hanson's 15 points for the Mayhem was too much as they beat the Dragons 31-24.

The Titans have completely packed it up for the Holidays, scoring only 8 points as the Bees cruised to a 29-8 victory with out the help of Drew Brees, who was shut out.  Instead the Bees got points from Leshoure (who has become a fantasy force), Steve Smith, Tony G, Vinatieri and the Eagle defense.  Bees are tied with Mayhem at 8-5, and they could be tied for first at 9-5 after next week for they both play the Freeman Brothers again.  Bees swept the home and home series so the Mayhem will need the Dragons to knock off the Bees for them to win the Division.  How ironic.

THE WEST
How the west was won will be decided next week as the Bums and Twins square off and the Bums trail the Twins by only one game.  The Crush literally crushed the Twins this week 50-16 and immediately started to cry about how unlucky he is and how this league is all about luck since he had the most points scored against him....blah blah blah...Andrew Luck had a huge game throwing for 16 points and Demaryius Thomas tallied 12 as well.  Little to late for the Crush

The Mafia are trying to make a late season run for the playoffs and won their 3rd in a row to go 7-6 with a good shot at the playoffs.  This week the knocked off the Bums, who themselves are fighting for the playoffs, 41-19.  Tony Romo finally woke up and threw for 12 points and Michael Turner and Calvin Johnson scored TDs as well, who has been quiet most of the year.  The Mafia will need them to keep producing if they want to get in the playoffs and further.
