CFFL Playoffs Round 1

Week 1 of the playoffs saw two close games and two blow outs....

Ferrets 26 Animals 22
In a match up of North Division rivals the Ferrets came out on top beating the Animals for a 3rd straight time this season.  The game was a snoozer to be honest.  No RGIII for the Animals.  Instead Matt "Stump the" Schaub got the start and only threw 1 TD  pass.  Lynch and Spiller were the only other players for the Animals to tally a TD.  Not much else on the Ferret side either as Manning only threw 1 TD pass.  No other Player scored a TD besides Pita "Bread" who tallied 2!  Game was in doubt late as the Animals clinged to a 22-16 lead going into SNF.  The Ferrets had Gostkowski going that night and for a while it looked like trouble for the Ferrets, but late, point by point the Ferrets got what they needed (10 points!) to win the game and advance to the second round.  Owner of the Ferrets had no confidence that they would win this game or any after it..."There's no way this franchise will ever win a championship"  Now there's a morale builder.

Killer Bees 55 Mayhem 14
The Killer Bees stung the Mayhem hard.  The Mayhem could not recover from 16 points from Drew Brees, and 15 points from "Fat Kicker" Janikowski.  For good measure, Leshoure, Steve Smith, Tony G, and Witten all scored TDs for the Bees.  Mayhem only manged points from Brady (10) and their kicker Hanson (4).  It ended the season for the Mayhem that despite not picking their team on draft day made it to the playoffs.  The Bees look dangerous right now with Brees playing a full season.

Chislers 38 Bums 36
In the game of the week the Chislers came back to beat the Bums on a late TD pass from Philip "Jug Head" Rivers, in fact the only TD pass from that stiff.  The player of the game, and for the week for that matter, was James Jones who tallied 3 TD catches for the Chislers.  The Bums countered with 18 points from their kicker Blair Walsh "Project"  The Chislers got no production from their Ravens (Rice, Smith and D), and only 4 points from the Chargers.  "If you would say we would only get 4 points from the Ravens and Chargers combined and still score 38 points I would say you are crazy!" Owner of the Chislers said.  I would agree.  The Bums were let down by Josh "Jew-hawk" Freeman who came up with a goose egg Sunday.  No more smoke and mirrors...

Twins 45 Juggernauts 25
The Twins bounced the Juggs right out of the playoffs, a playoff the Juggs, by the look of their roster, probably had no right being in.  The Twins were lead by strong performances by Shayne Graham (17pts), rookie Alfred "The Butler" Morris (12pts) and Andy "Malachi" Dalton (10pts).  How is it every year the Twins find those rookie running backs?  This year its Morris and Martin, the M squared backfield.  Juggernauts got 16 points from Kaepernick, but only the kicker provided any other production with 9 points.

Round 2 Match Ups:
Georgia Killer Bees at Fez's Ferrets - This should be a good match up and fun to watch.  Brees vs Manning.  Leshoure vs Foster. Polish kicker dual; Janikowski vs Gostkowski.  The Bees seem to be a little stronger at wide out then the Ferrets though, we will see what the swami has to say about that....In the Ferrets only run to the Fantasy Bowl in 2007 they beat the Bees in the first round 28-10, lead by 14 points from Bironas (Romo had 0).

Cherry's Chislers at Thomsen Twins - This is a match up between the most decorated franchises in CFFL history.  They are 1 and 2 in win % of all time.  13 combined trips to the Fantasy Bowl. 38 combined playoff appearances. 21 combined division titles.  WOW.  These teams met 6 times in the playoffs.  Lets take a look at the playoff history between these two:
1995 - Chislers 42 Twins 29 Fantasy Bowl XI
1998 - Chislers 48 Twins 4:  Round 1 Chislers' high powered Viking attack of Moss, Carter and Cunningham
2001 Twins 31 Chislers 8: Round 1 - Twins lead by Brett Favre's 12 points.
2002 Chislers 34 Twins 10 Round 2 - Chislers got 12 points from Tiki Barber.  Favre only manged 4 for Twins
2005 Chislers 33 Twins 29 Round 2 - Larry "Grandma ma" Johnson had 12 for the Chislers
2009 Chislers 47 Twins 46 Round 1 - Rivers had 12 for the Chislers back when he wasn't a stiff.
Don't count on 18 again from James Jones.  Chislers must get production from Ravens and Chislers.  Twins dangerous with rookie running back tandem (Morris and Martin) plus the 10 point connection threat of Dalton and Green.
