CFFL Week 2

Week 2 of the 2016 CFFL Season is in the books and the scoring slightly settled down from last weeks 50 burgers, but there was still a team that posted a 50...The week also saw a both Russian teams taking control of the Eastern Bloc like it was 1984 opening a two game lead.

Game of the Week:  Cocktails 27 Krauts 26

The Cocktails got a lack luster performance from Andrew Luck as  he only threw for 1 TD while Krauts QB Roethlisberger put up 12 points.  The score going into Monday Night was 26-16 in favor of the Krauts.  While the Krauts had the Eagle D, Cocktails had a good shot with the Eagle Kicker Sturgis.  The first half of the MNF game saw Sturgis kick in 9 points putting them only down 1 point.  An extra point in the second half tied the game.  The the Eagles picked off Cutler and headed toward the endzone, only to be knocked out at the 1 yard line, saving the game for the Cocktails!  Final score 27-26 for the Cocktails as they remain undefeated and are tied for first in the Eastern Bloc with their Russian  counter part Roulette.

Player of the Week:  Matt Forte, RB, Dragons - His 3 TD performance on Thursday put the Dragons ahead for good vs the Mayhem as they won 40-32.  They really needed that performance as the Dragons 10 point connection of Manning and Beckham were held scoreless.

High Score of the Week:  Animals 50 points vs the Ferrets.  The Animals got 44 points from just 3 players.  First it was their Panther connections of Newton and Gano who both scored 16 points then Monday Night, pouring it on, they got  2 more TDs from RB Ryan Mathews.

Benjamin back to being a beast once again

Around the League...Wrecking Crew hang on vs bitter rival Chislers 28-24 getting 12 points from Carr (but none from Cooper) despite being out dueled by "Jugghead" Rivers who had 16 points.  The difference was that on Sunday Night Crosby only kicked 2 pints and needed 6 for the win...The Roulette easily defeated the Juggernauts 33-23 thanks to 12 points from "Private" Benjamin and 11 from kicker Hopkins...The Titans scored maybe the most points in franchise history beating the Killer Bees 38-23.  Mike Wallace led the way with 12 points.  Amazingly the Bees lost with 2 Defense TDs from the Broncos.  Not many times you lose a game when your D scores twice...Crush hang on to take first place in the West beating the Sinistars 27-24.  Sinistars just needed a TD from Jeffery on Monday Night to win, but got nothing. "I don't Win.."  Bums defeat the Mafia easily 32-13.  Both backs for the Bums scored (Elliott and Gore) and kicker Cairo Santos "Todd Chontos" kicked in 12 points.
