CFFL40 Week 1

The 40th year of the CFFL finally kicked off this past weekend with the Alex's Animals set to defend their title.

Wrecking Crew 23  Animals 20 - The Animals started last year 0-2 and went on to win its next 12 games and win the Fantasy Bowl.  So the Animals are not too concerned losing the first game to the Crew.  The Crew had to hang on after taking a 23-20 lead behind 2 TD passes from C.J. Stroud.  Animals still had Lamb, Metcalf, and "The Flying" St. Brown.  That is some fire power, but none of them found the end zone.

Stroud connects on two TD passes for Crew

Chislers 34  Ferrets 26 - The reigning MVP Josh Allen picked up right where he left off.  He tallied 2 TD passes and 2 TD runs giving the Chislers 20 points to start the game.  The Ferrets did have a number of players on Sunday Night, including Goff and Gibbs, but they couldn't muster up enough points to make it close.  Plus Chislers had Ram kicker Karty "Finkbeiner" who had 8 points.

Dragons 42  Killer Bees 24 - The Dragons circled this date as soon as the schedule came out.  Their hatred for the Bees runs deep and they didn't hold back.  Every player but two scored for the Dragons including 2 TD catches from Stefon Diggs "Dig Dug".  I don't see too many wins for the Bees with the QB duo of Nix and Lawrence.

Diggs scores twice for the Dragons!

Warbirds 34  Titans 10 - Warbirds had little problem defeating the Titans, who in typical Titan fashion,  didn't even have a kicker.  Joe Burrow was a big disappointment for the Warbirds but they got scoring from other places.  Achane and Etienne both scored and Jayden Reed tallied two TD catches early.  This team could be dangerous if Burrow gets it figured out.

Reed scores 12 points for the Warbirds

Cocktails 40  Juggernauts 15 - This game was a little closer than the score indicates and at one point it looked like the Juggs could have been the favorite.  But down 20-14 the Juggs got dealt a blow when McCaffrey was ruled out of MNF.  Then the Cocktails got 20 points from their kicker Jake Moody "Blues" and before you know it this game was a blow out.  Unfortunately, at the end of game Jordon Love went down with a knee injury and might miss a few games.  And even worse their back up is Will Levis...

Krauts 32 Sinistars 31 - The Sinistars came up just 2 points short of taking down the favorite to win it all.  After the Krauts opened up the season with two 10 point connections from Mahomes to Worthy, they led the Sinistars 32-25 going into MNF.  Sinistars had Purdy and Breece "kids in the" Hall.  Hall would score on a 3 yard TD run to pull the Sinistars to within only one point.  Just one Purdy TD pass and they get the win!  Purdy would hit Juszczyk for 34 yards but he was tackled just 3 yards short.

This could be a very dangerous connection for the Krauts

Iron Legion 43  Crush 34 - For a team with Baker Mayfield  and Sam Darnold as thier QB, they sure looked good.  Mayfield ended up with 16 points, but two of his passes went to Mike Evans, Mr. Redzone for the Crush.  Legion kicker Brandon Aubrey, who can make a kick from anywhere, would kick in 15 points and Legion would get the win.

Mayfield's 16 points only second to Josh Allen this week

Whales 36  Killers 35 - The Whales opened up a big lead going up 26-0 after 8 points from Hurts and 18 huge points from Barkley!  Kamara would add another TD and it was 36-10 after a 10 point connection for the Killers when Tua hit Hill for a 80 yard TD.  The Killers had little hope.  But after 13 points from their kicker McLaughlin and a Godwin TD catch suddenly the Killers were back in it.  Then Walker III would get a 23 yard TD run!  They were only down 1 point.  Jakobi Meyers was still playing too!  Then Kenneth Walker III would score his second TD of the game for the win!!!  But wait!  There was a flag on the play for holding and didn't count.  Time ran out for the Killers and the Whales prevailed.

Barkely gets 18 points out of the gates in Week 1!

Player of the Week:  Josh Allen, QB, Chislers - 20 points
