CFFL Kick off Week 1

Ferrets at Chislers (-6) - take Ferrets plus the points, Jackson will make it close

Well the 36th season of the CFFL has kicked off!  It was so good to have football back and we already have our first OT game of the season!  Let's take a look at what happened in Week 1 of the CFFL...

In the Great White North...

Wrecking Crew 42  Ferrets 34 - The Ferrets got all 34 points from three players.  Jackson and Andrews combined for 24 while Will "Lug"Lutz kicked in 10, but then they got no help for any other player.  Crew came back in second half with Kyler Murray's 10 points, plus McCaffrey picked up right where he left off scoring twice.
McCaffrey punches it in for Crew

Chislers 36  Animals 25 - While the Bunker ripped on Josh Allen the whole time (can't throw the deep ball) he goes and scores 14 points.  With Dalvin Cook's big day of 16 points it was a rocking chair victory for the Chislers.  (side note Henry had 0 TDs, while Elliott had 2, a player he passed for Henry...hmmm)
Cook  gets 16 points for the Chiz!

In the Sad Sack South...

GAME OF THE WEEK:
Killer Bees 32(W)  Mayhem 32 (OT) - Bees started out fast with kicker Butker on Thursday with 10 points.  Mayhem would comeback with a Michel score and 14 big points from Thielen.  As the Monday Night approached Mayhem had to feel good about a 12 point lead having James Conner.  Well not so fast my friend.  Bees would get two scores from "Aunt" JuJu Smith-Schuster to tie game while Conner would leave the game early with an injury.  With the game going into OT, the Bees would win as back up kicker Matt Prater had 11 points.  Game over!
JuJu enjoying himself in the win!

Dragons 36  Titans 20 - Hey Titans this isn't 2018 anymore!  As much as I would like to see the Rams light it up, the Titans had all the wrong Rams.  Goff - 0, Kupp - 0, on bench: Higbee - 0 and Reynolds -0.  The Dragons however had one Ram, the only one you needed.  Malcom Brown, who scored twice Sunday Night!
Move of the Week by Dragons!

In the Eastern Bloc...

Sinistars 48  Cocktails 38 - The Defending Champs really was in control of this game once Sunday started getting 16 points from Russell and 18 huge points from Josh Jacobs "Jingleheimer Schmidt".  Cocktails did get some good production from QB Big Ben, scoring 12 points, but countering all the was the Sinistars kicker Chris Boswell, who had 8.
MVP Wilson?

Krauts 39  Juggernauts 35 - This game wasn't as close as the score indicated.  The Kruats pretty much dominated the game getting 28 points from Rodgers and Adams (this could be dangerous).  Juggs did get 12 points from Ridley and got two late scores from Elliott to make the score seem close (hmmm 2 for Elliott and none for Henry...)
Kraut trio...

Killers 27  Crush 16 - The Killers hung on to upset the Crush behind 14 points from Tom Brady, now a Buc.  Brady did throw a pick 6 to the Crush/Saints D, but still managed to put up a nice amount.  Game wasn't  nearly over as on Sunday and Monday night the Crush were coming  in with 3 players including a kicker!  Cam Akers had nothing Sunday Night.  Diontae Johnson couldn't get out of his own way Monday night and McManus late Monday only scored 2 points!
Good ole Tom gets the win for Killers

Iron Legion 31  Whales 24 - In the game between the two expansion teams, the Legion came away with the upset.  Whales seemed to be in control of the game getting 12 from Mahomes early and then 12 more from Carson.  But unfortunately that would be all they would get.  Kamara led the way for the Iron Legion scoring 12.  Whales didn't even get a single point from their kicker.  See kickers can be important too!
Kamara comes up big for Iron Legion

Player of the Week:  Josh Jacobs "Jingleheimer Schmidt" RB - Sinistars - 18 points

Next Weeks Action:

Special Guest Matt Youmans (aka Fish Lips) from VSiN makes this weeks picks:

Animals at Crew (-6) - take Crew lay the 6 points, they should roll.

Killer Bees at Dragons (+5) - at home getting points, take the Dragons!
Titans at Mayhem (-3) - lay the 3 with the Mayhem.  Don't expect many points from Rams again
Cocktails at Juggernauts (+3) - take Juggs and points.   This one will be close
Krauts at Sinistars (+1) - just a point?  Take Rodgers and the Krauts
Crush at Legion (-5) - Crush get back on track, lay the 5.
Whales at Killers (+2) - lay the 2 and take Mahomes and the Whales.

On a much more sober note I wanted to add this, for those of you who were not aware of the folding of the Russian Roulette

Russian Roulette owner Rich Johnston lost his life June 24, 2020 at the age of 42.  His team was in the league since 2009 and posted 2 division titles and 4 playoff appearances.  They were the pride of Russia and had many battles with their Eastern Bloc foes.  He will be deeply missed...
