CFFL Week 13

One more week to go and then its playoff time!  Some teams have already clinched and 6 teams are fighting for the final 3 spots!  Here's how the divisions are stacking up for the playoffs.

The North

Mason "Consolidated" scores 3 times!
The Animals are in the driver's seat at 9-4 after putting up a 50-burger on the Ferrets who had spoiler in mind, scoring 30 points, including a 22 point turkey day from Megatron and Prater.  But the Animals hit the jackpot with Tre Mason who scored 3 TDs while Antonio Brown put up another 14.  Even the Super Ginger Malachi Dalton scored 10 points.

The win gives them a one game lead over the Crew who failed to hang on against their bitter rival the Chislers.  The Crew only got 13 points on Thanksgiving from their Chicago Crew and no other points from any of their offensive players.  Their Defense scored 12 points (Rams) but the total of 25 points wouldn't hold up to the Green Bay Chislers and "Jugghead" Rivers.  Rivers got 12 and they would only need 13 more from their Green Bay players.  They got 20 (Nelson and Crosby).  The Chislers continue their quest for a playoff berth and are one win away from making that a reality.
Jugghead excited about beating Crew!

The Animals and Crew face off this week for the North title.  The Crew beat the Animals in week one so if the Crew win they win the Division due to the head to head record.  Animals win they have the North Division title.  If they lose they are still in as a wild card team at 9-5.  If the Crew lose they could be in a tie with Chislers (assuming Chislers beat the Ferrets), Roulette, Bums, Crush or Sinistars.  They hold the edge on points with all but Chislers, so losses by Chislers, Roulette and Crush beneficial for Crew.  Odds are Crew get in with a loss.

The Eastern Bloc

Kraut head coach fired up to be back in playoffs
The Krauts are back after a two year absence from the playoffs, in which case the Kraut camp was, lets just say, very hot during those two years.  They win their 5th division title by beating the Cocktails 53-27 ending the Cocktails hopes for a playoff berth in their first year.  Krauts got 12 points from two surprising places, DeAndre Hopkins and Viking D, combined for 24 points!  Romo and Witten ended the would be Cinderella season with goose eggs.

The Roulette are not making things easy in Moscow.  They lost to the Juggs 32-18 and are in jeopardy of missing the playoffs.  The Juggs finished the season with 4 straight wins after they had given up on the season.  Since then they scored more points than they did before they gave up.  Coby Fleener and "Dirty" Sanchez led the way with 12 and 10 points.  Manning for the Roulette did score 8 points but he obviously can't do it all.

Kraut pregame program
With the Krauts firmly a top of the Eastern Bloc and the Juggs going back to Italy and Cocktails to the Mother Land for the winter, the Roulette just need to win and they are in.  The only problem is they are playing the Krauts, winner of 7 in a row and the best team right now in the CFFL.  If Roulette lose they still are in but could use some help like a Chisler loss or Bums loss and depending on points scored Sinistar loss wouldn't hurt either.

The Sad Sack South

Well this one is easy.  Bees have clinched the Division with their win over the Titans and the Dragons loss to the Mayhem.  Bees got back on track with Luck scoring 20 points and easily dispensing the Titans 35-14.  The Dragons loss to Mayhem ended their playoff chances as they could not muster the comeback they needed from their Dolphins on Monday night.  Sturgis put up 10 but Tannehill came up empty as did the Dragon season.

Wild Wild West

This division is wild, every team still having a shot.  The Mafia have clinched the division with the victory over the Bums 23-13 lead by 13 points from Hauschka but not much else.  Even if Mafia lose next week and the Crush win to tie them, the Mafia swept them in the home and home series earlier this year.

The Crush lit up the Sinistars 60-24 getting 20 points from Brees, and then 12 points each from Jennings, Jeffery and LaFell!! Impressive way to move into the playoffs.  A win next week for the Crush over the Bums and they are in and send the Bums packing.  If the Bums win they could send the Crush packing.
Brees threw for 20 points!

Sinistars will need a win as well over the Mafia to make it in the playoffs, but will need some help to lock in their spot.  Out scoring the Roulette by more than 4 points will certainly help the cause if they are tied at 8-6.  A loss and the Sinistars stay home for the Holidays.
Mafia were preseason favorites to win it all...

So strap yourself in for one last wild weekend in the CFFL regular season.  Who will be in?  Who will be out?  Who will play spoiler?  Will Titans score more than 20 points?

  1. Why did only the Dragons season come up empty? I was unaware that every other team in the league but the Dragons made the playoffs.... Congrats to all of them. I hope every member of the Crew gets crotch rot and dies.
