Alex's Assassins are your 2022 Cherry Cup Champions defeating the Greek Empire 4-2! This was one of those years that went total chalk with the two best teams facing off for the Cup.
The Assassins rolled through the playoffs with little resistance from their foes. They shut out the White Mambas in round 1 6-0 and in Round 2 defeated the Who Gives a Puck 5-1 getting 7 assists from Connor McDavid, 5 goals from Elias Pettersson and 3 wins from Bobrovsky.

The Greek Empire had a slightly more difficult path, even though they had a bye the first week. To get to the Cup they had to face their bitter rival the California Raisins and this one was close. While they defeated them 4-2, they had to come from behind on the last day to win Assists to seal the victory. Plus they got a dominating performance from their goaltending as Casey DeSmith and Jacob Markstrom combined for 4 wins and a .952 SV%.

In the Cherry Cup Finals, the luck was with the Assassins. Neither team played very well in net. Assassins couldn't muster one win, but did edge the Greek Empire out in SV% by .002%, this after the week in net the Greek had prior. Not to mention, last week the Greek Empire had 18 assists. This week only 8, which wasn't enough to top the Assassins' 15. So needless to say, neither team played very well, but it was the Assassins who came away with their first Cherry Cup! Connor McDavid (by default I guess) was the Cherry Cup Finals MVP with 1 goal, 4 assists, and 2 PPP...meh...
So that concludes this year's Cherry Fantasy Hockey League season. Now I just need to figure out how to get that Cherry Cup back...Tommy!
