Well there you have it. The final regular season week is in the books. 8 teams will move on. 8 teams will look forward to August and the Draft. It came down to the final game of the week to determine the playoff teams.
Chislers 42 Wrecking Crew 32 - This game came down to the very end. The Crew took an early lead getting 16 big points from Jimmy G and had a 32-12 lead. Clearly not enough points as is typically the case every Sunday. You can never have enough points! It wasn't the Rams players that won it for the Chislers, although they helped get it close, but it was a little known Giant WR Darius Slayton who would score a TD for the win and then add another one for good measure. The win gave the Chislers another playoff berth (26th) in a year the Chislers were "just going to have fun"...
Slayton scores game winner...fucker. |
Ferrets 45 Animals 28 - Ferrets eliminated the Animals with 12 points from potential MVP Lamar Jackson and 12 points from Elliott.
The South came down to who would win and out score the other in their games. Dragons would prevail versus Mayhem 32-27. Deshaun Watson got some revenge on the Mayhem scoring 16 points against his former team that traded him earlier claiming he was disruptive in the locker room. The Dragons still needed to make sure they outscored the Bees by 12 in order for them to claim the South Division....
Watson doesn't look very happy for scoring 16 points |
Speaking of the Bees, they were playing the Titans, who had Block Head at QB, "It was the" Duke Johnson at RB and a Lion kicker. Clearly this would be an easy win for the Bees, who had players like Aaron Rodgers, Leonard Fournette, Chief kicker Butker. "Not so fast my friend!" They would only get 4 points from Rodgers and 11 from Butker and the game was tied at 15-15. Titans needed a TD catch from Golden "Taint" Tate Monday night, but came up empty. The Bees would win in OT, but lose the division to the Dragons getting out scored by the Dragons by 17 points.
No more block head this year... |
Other games that had playoff implications:
The Krauts needed a win to make the playoffs and were playing the Cocktails, no easy task. Once again the Cocktails didn't get the point production from their Chiefs they count on for wins. Mahomes only had one TD pass. Kelce did run one in, but wasn't enough to defeat the Krauts who managed to score just enough points for the win 23-18....
Could Mahomes have a hand issue? |
The Crush also needed a win to get in, but wasn't as lucky as the Krauts as they faced the Sinistars. They did have a 28-24 lead going into Sunday night, but with the Sinistars fielding Gurley and Woods it didn't look good for the Crush. Woods would score a TD for the game winner and Gurley would add another for good measure knocking the Crush out of the playoff race.
Woods scores game winner! |
Around the league...Juggs beat the MIA Roulette 32-18 behind 16 big points from kicker Younghoe "Bag"....The Killers peaked one week too late as they laid 53 points on the Bums winning 53-17. There are a lot of teams glad they didn't make the playoffs as they seemed to have found their groove. Brees had 26 points including two 10 point connections to Cook!! Some may ask is that a record for points scored by a QB? Nope. Mark "Cornholio" Rypien holds the record with 30 points back in 1991 for the Jewels. It does tie him for 3rd all time with Jake "The Snake" Plummer who scored 26 back in 1998...
Player of the Week: Drew Brees, QB, Killers - 26 points
Congratulations to our Division Winners:
North: Fez's Ferrets (8th division title)
South: Monclova Dragons (6th division title)
East: Molotov Cocktails (first division title)
West: Stamm's Sinistars (4th division title)
It's playoff time and oh boy do we have a hell of a first round! Rivalries and rematches!
Wrecking Crew at Sinistars (-6.5) - The Crew travel to the Sinistars, the best team in the league. It will be Garoppolo vs. Wilson, Gurley vs. McCaffery. And a side note, Sinistars kicker is Robbie Gould, the same kicker that with the Crew couldn't kick a lousy 6 points on New Years Eve, to give them the win against the Crush in Fantasy Bowl XXV all the way back in 2009...Just saying. Sinistars likely to get cover and move on, but they have been notorious in losing early in the playoffs...
Chislers at Ferrets (Pk) - The Ferrets have to be less than enthused about this match up. No one would. I don't think anyone wanted to see the Chislers back in the playoffs. With Chisler luck they could make another run for their 7th championship. The Chislers and Ferrets squared off in the home and home series early this year splitting. Ferrets won the first match up by one point 40-39 and the Chislers won game 2 44-25. Chisler luck prevails and Ferrets post season woes continue.
Krauts at Cocktails (-7.5) - This is becoming quite the divisional rivalry between the Germans and the Russians, dating back to WWII. Last year in the playoffs Cocktails beat the Krauts 32-22 then destroyed them in Week 1 this year 47-0! Krauts won the last game that propelled them into the playoffs, but have to play them one more time. I can't see the Krauts going up into Russia again, in December, and beating the Cocktails. Cocktails win big, lay the points.
Killer Bees at Dragons (Pk) - Oh wow. You couldn't have a more heated rivalry to open the playoffs than this one, at least for the Dragons who constantly cry to get the Bees out of the league. Bees probably don't have any issues with the Dragons. This is another home and home series rematch. They split the series, Bees won big in the first game 52-20 and Dragons won the second 31-24. This game will be close, but the x-factor will be Watson in this game giving the Dragons a narrow victory.
