CFHL Week 5 Review

What a Ginger!
Goal King vs. Goon Crew (3-1-2)
The laid back management style of the Goal King has now brought them to the first place in the Norris Division after handing the Goon Crew its third straight losing week.  Goal King took both goals (10-8) and Assists (12-7), even after Sid "The Kid" Crosby's 2 goals on Sunday.  It would have been a lot worse but the Crew managed to tie the +/- and PIM.  With one final player (Wideman) playing Sunday night, the Crew couldn't get one more +1 or any PIM.  Number One Star of the game was Daniel "Ginger Twin" Sedin who had 3 goals, 3 assists, a +2, which was the second week in a row the Goon Crew had to face a dreaded Ginger Twin.

Krampus Carols vs Enforcers (3-3)

Lucic not happy...Don't mess with Lucic!!
In the game of the week, it was a battle of the Number 1 and Number 2 teams in the league, both expansion teams.  And while the tie 3-3 seemed close, the game itself was only close in one category, assists.  The Enforcers dominated goals 12-5, thanks to 3 goals from Andrew Ladd, 2 from Weber, and 2 from Tlusty.  The Enforcers also had an impressive +14 to the Krampus' -3, and PIM 26-10 after Milan Lucic got a 10 minute misconduct after getting boarded.  Don't mess with Lucic.  The Krampus Carols' goalies were hot in net with Price getting 2 wins and .925 while "Mister" Anderson scored 1 win and a .983.  Enforcers are only a point ahead of the Krampus.

Kronwall Celebrates Goal
Kraken vs USSR (3-2-1)
The Kraken finally got on the winning track taking down the USSR beating them in +/-, PIM, and Goalie wins.  Release the goons, or Krakens! And those two were Parenteau "Guidance" who had 12 PIM, and David Clarkson who had 14 PIM.  Number One Star of the game was defenseman Kronwall.  "The Wall" had 2 goals, 4 assists, a +5 and 2 PIM.  While the Soviets won the goal category, they only scored 5 goals and were not happy, making some several line up changes (Goal King says "I wouldn't do that").  Both Fluery and Nabokov got 2 wins each for the Kraken.

Mayhem vs. SLVB (5-1)
Mayhem was everywhere!
The woes continue for those crazy little sick killer smurfs.  The Mayhem blew out the Smurfs taking all but one category sending SLVB to the bottom of the league.  Blake Wheeler was the Number One Star of the game tallying 2 goals, 3 assists, a +3 and 2 PIM.   Even SLVB's Datsyuk's 5 assits and Beauchemin's 4 assists couldn't help them win the Assist category as they lost it 16-14.  Goon of the Game was Eric Staal for the Mayhem who had 10 PIM.  The win puts the Mayhem only 3 points out of first place and in the playoff hunt.

Bunnies vs. Assassins (4-2)
Simmonds was a beast!!
In maybe one of the most lopsided victories on the skater categories the Bunnies were doing the assassinations this week.  11-3 in goals, 18-9 in assists, +6 to -3 in +/-, and 42-17 in PIM.  Number One Star was Wayne "World" Simmonds who had 3 goals, 4 assists, a +3 and 17 PIM to also be the Goon of the Game.  Simmonds was just a beast for the Bunnies. A Bunny Beast!  Stamkos was the Number 2 Star with an equally impressive week tallying 4 goals, 4 assists a +2 and 2 PIM.  The Bunnies maintain a one point lead in the Smythe over USSR, while Assassins remain in the basement of the Norris Division.

Giroux scores one of his 3 goals
AshBusters vs. Checkers (3-3)
The Checkers battled back on Sunday to force the tie as they had 8 assists on the last day to win Assists 22-17. "Ginger" Sedin, Zetterberg and Ekman-Larsson had 4 assists each for the Checkers.  Number One Star of the Game was Claude Giroux, who was subject to trade rumors toward the end of the week, proved he still wants to play for the struggeling AshBusters.  He had 3 goals, 5 assists, and a +2.  Taylor Hall of the AshBusters was Goon of the Game racking up 15 PIM and a 2 game suspension for a knee on knee hit.  The AshBuster Goalies were impressive as Rask and Scrivens "Scabees" both had 2 wins and a .938 SV%, but the Checker's net minders Quick and Halak was a bit better with .955 SV%.

Week 6 Game of Week: Krampus vs. USSR
Only 2 points separate these two teams.  USSR has a proud tradition of hockey.  The Krampus Carols are just plain creepy.  Krampus or USSR fans??

Krampus Fans always fired up

USSR Fan...Go USSR!
