The Who Gives a Puck are now 2 time Cherry Cup Champions after upsetting the heavily favored La Femme Nikita 5-2!
They really took control early after the first week of competition and had Nikita on their heels the rest of the Championship. Nikita did close the gap to 4-3 by Saturday, the last day of games. Their only hope was goal tending. The 6 wins they got from Vasilevskiy and Price came along with a sub par Save % of .903. They needed the Puck goalies to have a terrible day in net on Saturday to try to win SV% and tie the game. That would not happen. Instead the Puck got 8 hits on Saturday to the Nikita's 2 to take the lead in Hits and sealing the victory 5-2.
Leon Draisaitl was the Cherry Cup MVP netting 7 goals including a hat trick along with 3 assists for the Puck. His teammate in Edmonton, Connor McDavid had 3 goals and 5 assists to help with the victory.
For La Femme Nikita, Stamkos and Kucherov (the leagues MVP), did what they could combining for 10 goals, 7 assists, and a +8. But when it came down to it, the Puck got more production across all their players than Nikita. 6 of the Puck players had 3 goals or more compared to Nikita's 3. Puck had 6 players tally 5 assists or more compared to only 2 from Nikita. A disappointing end for La Femme Nikita, who really looked unstoppable at times.
