Review: La Perla Habana, Gurkha Regent, and La Galera Maduro.

The review of the classic La Perla Habana Belicoso.  Made out of Nicaragua filler and binder and an Indonesian wrapper.

Burn: 4/5  (Burned fairly evenly throughout)
Draw: 5/5  (smooth draw throughout the smoke)
Smoke: 4/5  (good smoke produced)
Relight:  5/5  (had no relights at all)
Taste: 8/10  (a mild but flavorful cigar. Pleasant on the palette)

Total Score: 26/30

Overall:  A complete surprise!  Was a great smoke that burned even and had nice taste to it.  At a significant lower price point this one would be great to always have on hand and share.

Gurkha Regent, a Honduran cigar with Honduran Habana 2000 wrapper.

Burn: 4/5  (Burned fairly evenly throughout)
Draw: 4/5  (tight draws at the beginning, but then smooth throughout)
Smoke: 4/5  (good smoke produced)
Relight:  5/5  (had no relights at all)
Taste: 9/10  (medium flavored cigar with great notes of spice.  Great on the palette)

Total Score: 26/30

Overall:  Great stick!  Amazing flavor on the palette and constructed very well.  The medium to just slightly bold taste is even throughout the smoke.

La Galera Maduro.  This beauty was a selection from the Cigar Dave's Officer Club.  Beautiful stick and even more beautiful label!  Couldn't wait to try this one!

Burn: 4/5  (Burned fairly evenly throughout)
Draw: 5/5  (Great draw from beginning to end)
Smoke: 5/5  (no problems here)
Relight:  5/5  (had no relights at all)
Taste: 9/10  (medium bodied cigar with rich and smooth tastes)

Total Score: 28/30

Overall:  Almost the perfect stick!  Completely great from start to finish.  Only a slightly unevenness on the burn.  Rich medium bodied flavor.  Would certainly look into buying this one!

Today's review is from last night's  Black Pearl Rojo Robusto.  Made out of Nicaragua filler and binder and a nice dark Criollo wrapper.

Burn: 4/5  (Burned fairly evenly throughout)
Draw: 4/5  (draw was fairly smooth, slightly tighter than the Oro)
Smoke: 4/5  (good smoke produced)
Relight:  3/5  (had a few relights)
Taste: 4/5  (a full bodied cigar had a nice taste on the palette)

Total Score: 23/30  (Taste is weighted 2x)

Overall:  A cigar that I would definitely try again.  And I will since I have a box of them!  A nice flavorful cigar that can be enjoyed while relaxing at your local cigar establishment or on the patio with friends.

Review: La Perla Habana Black Pearl Oro

I thought I would start some cigar reviews as I embark on a new line / brand of cigars.  Relatively inexpensive line the La Perla Habana.  Today's review is on the Black Pearl Oro Toro.  Made out of Nicaragua filler and binder wrapped with an Ecuador Connecticut leaf.

Burn: 4/5  (Burned fairly evenly throughout)
Draw: 5/5  (smooth easy draw throughout)
Smoke: 5/5  (great smoke produced)
Relight:  5/5  (had no relights at all)
Taste: 2/5  (mostly mild, slightly to the medium side.  a bit harsh on the back of the palette)

Total Score: 21/30  (Taste is weighted 2x)

Overall:  A very well constructed cigar that burns and smokes great.  Little disappointed with the taste.  Would be a great cigar for the golf course.
