CFFL Week 1

 We have kicked off the 42nd season of the CFFL!  Here is the action from a wild Week 1.

Ferrets 40  Wrecking Crew 29

The defending champ Ferrets picked up right were they left off.  For a while it looked like the only points were going to come from their QB and Kicker.  Trevor "Jack-o-lantern Head" Lawrence had 16 points and Cam "Thank you very" Little had 10.  And if that stayed the case, they would lose.  But they called the "Black guy with the grille go deep" play twice and Justin Jefferson scored both times to give them the win.  The Crew rushing attack was wasted in the loss as D'Andre "Taylor" Swift had 3 scores and Brown added one more.  

Animals 58  Chislers 38

Speaking of rushing attacks the Chislers and Animals matched running scores, score for score.  Derrick "King Rat Tail" Henry had 3 scores, but so did Animal Montgomery.  Ashton Jeanty had 2 scores.  But so did Kenneth Walker for the Animals.  With no points from Stafford and only 2 points from Dicker "The Kicker" the Chislers were in trouble.  Animals got 2 more TDs from "Flying" St. Brown and never looked back.

Warbirds 48  Killer Bees 21

Warbirds had little problem exterminating the Bees 48-21, which was 48-7 before Monday Night.  Hurts had 3 TD passes and "Houdini" Watson caught 2 TDs including an 81 yard bomb!  Warbirds also got TDs from both RBs (Irving and Robinson) while surprisingly the Bees got zero points from James Cook.  Not a good start for the Bees.

Dominators 41  Stigmatas 39

The new expansion team Stigmatas gave the Dominators all they could handle. Caleb Williams was huge in this game scoring 20 points for the Stigmatas.  The Dominators looked like they were done, but Javonte Williams was able to score 2 times on Sunday night to give them the lead.  Stigmatas were not done yet and had kicker Butker, Waddle and Dobbins on Monday night.  Surely they could get 10 points to pull off the win.  Butker kicked 7 points in, but Waddle and Dobbins came up empty and the Dominators prevailed. 

Sinistars 33  Cocktails 19

Jonathan Taylor also picked up where he left off, scoring 2 TDs for the Sinistars in the easy win over the Cocktails.  If it wasn't for Cocktail kicker McPherson's 15 points this wouldn't have been even this close.  They got only 4 points from Burrow and the rest of the team stunk.  

Krauts 42  Juggernauts 31

The Krauts and Juggernauts battled to a tie in regulation.  Brock Purdy got things going with 12 points early on Thursday Night along with a Kyren Williams TD.  He would get 7 more points from kicker Jake "Master" Bates.  Sunday the Juggernauts countered with TDs from Omarion Hampton "Inn", "Peter" Parker Washington, and Juwan Johnson.  They would trail the Krauts 25-23 heading into Sunday Night.  Dak Prescott would throw 2 TDs to give them the lead 31-25!  But not so fast!  Krauts had Rashee Rice Monday night and he would score to send the game into OT where Kraut back up kicker ended it with 11 points!

Lunatics 36  Killers 18

Not the start that the Killers were looking for getting only 8 from Goff and 6 from their defense on Sunday.  The Lunatics capitalized on the Packer combination of Love and Smack "My ass and call me Sally" as they scored 18 points alone!  Two more scores from Goedert and this game was over!

Whales 41  Legion 40

What a barn burner of a game!!  The Whales took a quick 15-0 lead Thursday night getting 9 points from kicker "squiggle mark" Pineiro and 6 from JSN.  But the Legion roared back with Josh "Mother Fucking" Allen taking control of the game scoring a huge 20 points that included two rushing TDs and a 10 point connection pass to DJ "T.C." Moore "Bookkeeping".  The Legion led 38-35 going into the Sunday night game, and with Aubrey as the kicker, certainly looked like they were in the driver's seat.  Whales RB Skattebo would score a quick TD giving the lead back to the Whales 41-38.  Aubrey would kick only two XP, miss one, and not attempt a single FG!!  How can that be?  Oh it be! Whales survive 41-40.

Players of the Week:  Caleb Williams QB, Stigmatas and Josh Allen, QB, Legion both with 20 points.  Ironically both of their teams lost.  Wait what?

Next Week 2 games:

Animals (1-0) at Wrecking Crew (0-1) (+3) - Crew try to get things right.  Animals just want to keep rolling on.  Take the Animals and lay the points

Ferrets (1-0) at Chislers (0-2) (-2) - Despite their loss they are favored in this game.  If they keep running the ball the way they did in Week 1 they should roll.

Bees (0-1) at Stigmatas (0-1) (+10)  Line seems lopsided.  Both teams don't want to drop to 0-2.  Take the points in a close one.  

Cocktails (0-1) at Juggernauts (0-1) (-3) - Another key game in the division where both teams  don't want to be down 2 games in the division.  I look for a Cocktail rebound this week.

Lunatics (1-0) at Legion (0-1) (-7) - Lunatics will be facing a different team this week with Josh Allen at the helm.  Lay the points with the Legion

Whales (1-0) at Killers (0-1) (+8) - Killers will be better this week, but not good enough to not drop to 0-2 vs the Whales.
