It was a wild week in the NFL and an equally wild week in the CFFL. Here is the action from Week 5.
Game of the Week: Killers 65 Juggernauts 62
This game was crazy! Setting the record for most points scored in a game with 127 points, this was a late back and forth battle that no one saw coming. The Killers looked pretty much dead in the water early on as the Juggernauts got 12 early points from "Peter" Parker Washington and then 16 huge points from their kicker Spencer Shrader. They led 50-12 at one point. The winless Killers were not going to roll over however. In the second half of the day, Goff scored 18 points including two TDs to Jamo Williams for 2 10 point connections. That made the score 50-42. Killer kicker Will "Lug" Lutz then kicked in 11 points to give the Killers an unbelievable comeback as they led 53-50!
On to the SNF and MNF. Fumble! Juggernauts Falcons defense scooped it up and scored to retake the lead, 56-53. Then on MNF it was Nacua vs. Adams. Killers' Adams caught a redzone TD pass to give the Killers a 59-56 lead! Killers looking good right? Wrong. Nacua then counters with a TD of his own for the Juggernauts giving them the lead 62-59. Killers felt that was it. But hold on a beat! Adams scores one last TD (score once score twice) giving the Killers an unbelievable victory 65-62! Wow!
Game of the Week 2: Krauts 31 Lunatics 29
Another late game heroics in this one. Lunatics took a surprising lead against the Krauts 23-0 behind 12 points from Freiermuth "Firemouth". Krauts closed the gap with Purdy's 9 points and a McCaffrey TD, 23-15. Sunday night they got 10 big points from kicker "Looptie" Loop" taking the lead 25-23. Then it was Williams vs. Corum on Monday night. Lunatics' Corum would score to give the Lunatics a 29-25 lead and likely win. But with time running out Kyren Williams scored from 1 yard out with 5 seconds left in the game as the Krauts snatch victory from the jaws of defeat as they say.
Wrecking Crew 43 Warbirds 39 - Warbirds were scoring from everywhere; Aaron Jones TD, Pickens TD, Watson 2 scores, Warren a RUSHING TD! But of the bench came Drake Maye for the Crew and scored 22 points! They had the lead 43-39 and had to survive the Bijan bullets Sunday night like Neo and did!
Killer Bees 28 Ferrets 15 - Bees took advantage of the young owner line up mishaps leaving Chase and Jefferson on the bench (both scored TDs) but ultimately didn't matter. James Cook had 2 more scores for good measure.
Chislers 33 Stigmatas 18 - Chislers were worried? Why? Stigmatas remained winless as the Chislers win easily 33-18 behind 12 points from Stafford.
Dominators 49 Animals 11 - Dominators continue their undefeated season, and are quickly becoming a Fantasy Bowl favorite. With Lamar out Snoop Huntley filled in nicely with 14 points and kicker Jason "Michael" Myers kicked in 17!
Sinistars 25 Legion 15 - Sinistars had enough of Herbert and started Brissett. Would anyone over the offseason ever see that coming? It paid off as Brissett had 12 points, Herbert 4 in the Sinistar victory.
Whales 43 (W) Cocktails 43 (OT) - Cocktails almost pulled off the upset but came up one point short. In this barn burner, the Cocktails got 16 big points from Burrow and Jaylen Warren had two long TDs of 50 yards and 80 yards! (score once, score twice). Whales countered with 12 from Daniels back from his injury and 12 more from Gibbs (score once, score twice). JSN scored a TD and the Whales led 43-41. Cocktails had one more chance with Kincaid on Monday night. He caught a 2 point conversion to tie the game! But Cocktails were at home and won in OT with kicker Folk's 11 points.
Player of the Week: Drake Maye, QB, Wrecking Crew - 22 points
How are the divisions stacking up after 5 weeks into the 14 week season? Well the in the Great White North it is still anybody's game. With the Crew and Chislers 3-2 and the Animals and Ferrets 2-3. Animals need to fix their QB woes and Ferrets are going to ride Duuuuval County!...
The Sad Sack South looks to be the haves and have nots. Dominators haven't lost a game and the Bees only have one loss while the Warbirds only have one win and the Stigmatas are winless.
In the ever tough Eastern Bloc, Krauts and Sinistars sit atop of the division at 4-1 with the Juggernauts only a game behind. Cocktails are still trying to figure things out sitting at 1-4. If they lose any more ground, it could be over for the Cocktails this season.
The Whales seem to be in firm control in the Wild Wild West already holding a 2 game lead over the Legion. Lunatics and Killers in the basement and the Killers have posted the dreaded "Fire Sale" sign outside franchise headquarters.
